The event banner introduces Lee Dongwook as "Hallyu Star," and how he responded to it will leave everyone smile ear to ear. As soon as he saw it, he blushed and laughed in embarrassment.

South Korean actor Lee Dong-Wook named honorary ambassador for Pyeongchang Olympics

 

SEOUL: South Korean star actor Lee Dong-wook on Friday was named an honorary ambassador for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics that will kick off next month, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported.

In a ceremony held in Seoul, Lee joined a slew of other Korean wave stars including actors Lee Min-ho and Kim Woo-bin as the latest goodwill spokesperson for South Korea’s first Winter Games.

The competition will start on Feb 8 for a 17-day run in PyeongChang and two other adjacent cities in Gangwon Province.

The organising committee said Lee will take part in promotional activities for the Olympics and the Paralympics in 2018.

“I felt emotional that another Olympic Games will be held in the country, as I remember watching the Summer Games 30 years ago in Seoul when I was a child,” said Lee, who is now 36 years old. “I’ll do my best to attract the eyes of global fans to PyeongChang and help them participate in the games.”

He said he will go to PyeongChang to watch a Paralympics event with his fans in March. He bought 1,000 tickets of the PyeongChang Paralympics that will take place on March 9 to 18.

Lee Dong Wook attended the honorary ambassador appointment ceremony for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games at the Taepyeongro Press Center in Seoul on January 12. Lee Dong Wook will actively promote the success of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as the tourism boom of the Gangwon province.

 

Lee Dong Wook has been actively communicating with his fans and returning the love he has received. Hi WookD, thanks for sharing this.  Lee Dong Wook is the latest addition to the team of celebrities who have been roped in to boost ticket sales – of the Winter Games. It is nice to see him up again.  The long, white, sporty puffy jacket called "parka" he's wearing must be the current winter trend in South Korea because I also saw Park Bo Gum wearing the same..... Must be the “in” thing now. It looks super cuddly!

Hi ling ko, thanks for sharing MORE on this. As far as I remember “On the Air” was first broadcasted on Naver V Live on April last year. I guess it went on to air every 12th of the month & wrapped-up until just recently. This usually airs for more than an hour every 11 p.m. KST. Well, despite that it ended, LDW is set to return to the small screen soon. Can’t wait!

Hi ling ko, thanks for sharing the link.  It's really NICE watching a clip/video when you understand what you're watching at or what they're talking about. Ye, LDW knows how to appreciate his fans and actually shows it. He's the kind who's not afraid to show a little bit of love to his fans. He's just super sweet.  He knows how to treat his fans well. ...  I admire a celeb who appreciates the people that got them to where they are ... He's generous to have given his fans something very thoughtful.  It’s quite refreshing to see some of our favorite celebrities giving back to their fans. The fan meeting titled “Go PyeongChang 2018 with Lee Dong Wook” comes as a part of “Christmas in March” festival. The event aims to popularize Gangwon Province as well as encourage people from various countries to further enjoy the Paralympics.

Lee Dong Wook’s fan meeting will be free of charge and will consist of special events for global fans to enjoy. All fans attending will also receive tickets, bought by Lee Dong Wook himself, to the ice hockey games at the Paralympics.
