“Connection” is a new crime thriller starring Ji Sung as Jang Jae Kyung, a well-respected detective who is the ace of the narcotics unit. Jeon Mi Do will star as Oh Yoon Jin, an opinionated and outspoken reporter who works at a newspaper.

The newly released special teaser begins with a news report announcing that drug-related crimes have been rapidly increasing and that the government is waging a war on drugs. However, Jang Jae Kyung’s world is suddenly turned upside down one day when he falls into a trap. After receiving a mysterious text message from someone called “Doctor,” Jang Jae Kyung is viciously attacked from behind—and when he wakes up, he finds that he is now addicted to drugs, entirely against his will.

Ji Sung hunts for the conspiracy Connection in first teaser

by tccolb

Giving us an early sneak peek before the looming new year, SBS released a special teaser for the new crime-thriller Connection, where a dark and dire scheme is conspiring for our two leads: Ji Sung (Adamas) and Jeon Mi-do (Thirty-Nine).

The trailer begins with a slew of news reports, where we learn that South Korea has become mired in a sudden surge of drug-related crimes and the government has declared a war against drugs. We’re then introduced to our hero Jang Jae-kyung (Ji Sung), a police inspector who is considered the pride of the drug investigations team and is well-respected by his adoring colleagues.

But what happens when even Jae-kyung gets dragged into the pit of drugs? Lured by a mysterious text message from someone called “Doctor,” we watch as our cop is kidnapped and drugged against his will. Enter journalist Oh Yoon-jin (Jeon Mi-do) who hears the shocking news that someone on the drug investigations police unit has allegedly used drugs himself.

Her co-worker explains that it was “lemon meth” and although Yoon-jin is excited to nab an exclusive story, they also worry that there’s something suspicious about the whole thing. As they further investigate, Yoon-jin astutely realizes that the police are trying to cover up the case and brush it under the rug.

Meanwhile, a panicked Jae-kyung is trying to discover the truth and the teaser ends as he desperately wonders where the connection to everything starts.

Directed by PD Kim Moon-kyo (Trolley) with writing by Lee Hyun (Diary of a Prosecutor), SBS’s Connection is slated to broadcast in 2024.
