Character descriptions

 

Ok Tae Young (Im Ji Yeon) is a female attorney in Joseon. She is loved by everyone because she helps others even in difficult situations. However, her name, identity, and even her husband are all fake.

Cheon Seung Hwi (Choo Young Woo) risks his life to protect Ok Tae Young. Cheon Seung Hwi covers his face with a veil and travels around the country reciting novels to people. He falls in love with Ok Tae Young at first sight when he meets her by chance and supports her wholeheartedly even after he finds out about her true identity.

Cha Mi Ryeong  (Yeonwoo) is an eager apprentice learning from Ok Tae Young. Cha Mi Ryeong is characterized by her kindness and boldness, particularly in helping those in need, but she harbors a secret she cannot reveal to anyone.

Sung Do Kyeom (Kim Jae Won) is a beloved figure in the village. Sung Do Kyeom holds great respect for his sister-in-law Ok Tae Young who has been a pillar of support since his childhood.

Choo Young Woo will Possibly Work Alongside Lim Ji Yeon in a New Historical K-drama

Choo Young Woo will reportedly work with Im Ji Yeon in the upcoming historical K-drama The Life of Mrs. Ock. 

Media sources reported on November 9 that Choo Young Woo will possibly star in his first-ever historical K-drama after two years since his debut. According to reports, Choo Young Woo has been picked to be the male lead of the upcoming JTBC K-drama The Life of Mrs. Ock. 

Choo Young Woo's agency J Wide Company responded to the casting reports. According to the agency, Choo Young Woo is in positive talks to star in the historical K-drama. 

If Choo Young Woo confirms his casting, this will be his third upcoming K-drama project. The actor is set to lead the Netflix original series The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call with Ju Ji Hoon, Yoon Gyung Ho, Ha Young, and Jeong Jae Kwang. He will also join another Netflix upcoming K-drama Mercy for None together with popular actors So Ji Sub, Ahn Kil Kang, Lee Bum Soo, Gong Myung, and Heo Joon Ho. 

In 2023, Choo Young Woo starred in the series Oasis. He has appeared in several K-dramas since his debut such as Once Upon a Small Town, School 2021, Police University, and You Make Me Dance.

On November 9, Sports DongA reported that Choo Young Woo received an offer to star in JTBC’s new drama “Tale of Mrs. Ok” (literal title) and is negotiating the details.

In response to the report, Choo Young Woo’s agency J,Wide-Company shared, “The actor is currently reviewing the offer [to star in ‘Tale of Mrs. Ok’].”

“Tale of Mrs. Ok” is a drama that tells the fierce survival and success stories of a female slave in the Joseon Dynasty who fakes her name, status, and even her husband. Lim Ji Yeon is reportedly offered the role of slave Goo Deok, a character who abandons her name and fakes everything to live a new life as a mistress.

Choo Young Woo is reportedly offered to play the role of Song Seo In, the son of the prestigious Song family. Song Seo In is a romantic and reckless character when it comes to love, and he changes as he gets entangled with Goo Deok through various events.

Having debuted in 2021 through the web drama “You Make Me Dance,” Choo Young Woo emerged as a rising star on the small screen by starring in various dramas including “School 2021,” “Once Upon a Small Town,” and “Oasis.”

On December 6, JTBC’s new drama “Tale of Mrs. Ok” (literal title) announced the casting of Lim Ji Yeon and Choo Young Woo as the leads.
