Plot

“Perfect Family”  tells the story of a model student named Sun Hee, who is always at the top of her class, and her happy and seemingly perfect family. However, the family goes through an unexpected series of events after the sudden murder of Sun Hee’s friend Kyung Ho.

Park Ju Hyun will be taking over Jung Ji So’s role in the upcoming drama “Perfect Family” (literal translation)!

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Perfect Family” will tell the story of a model student named Sun Hee, who is always at the top of her class, and her happy and seemingly perfect family. However, the family goes through an unexpected series of events after the sudden murder of Sun Hee’s friend Kyung Ho.

While Jung Ji So was originally cast in the leading role of Choi Sun Hee earlier this year, she has now been replaced by Park Ju Hyun. Meanwhile, Kim Byung Chul and Yoon Se Ah will be starring as Sun Hee’s adoptive parents Choi Jin Hyuk and Han Eun Joo.

Kim Byung Chul to lead the upcoming webtoon-based K-drama titled Perfect Family.

On August 9th, it was officially confirmed that Kim Byung Chul will be the main lead of the upcoming K-drama Perfect Family. Actresses Yoon Se Ah and Jung Ji So were also reportedly joining the upcoming series. 

If Yoon Se Ah confirms her casting, this will be her reunion with Kim Byung Chul after five years. The two worked together as a married couple in the hit 2018 K-drama SKY Castle.

Early this year, Kim Byung Chul drew attention after starring in the popular K-drama Doctor Cha. Many praised the actor for his amazing acting skills, great looks, and undeniable chemistry with Uhm Jung Hwa in the K-drama. Just like when Kim Byung Chul was working with Yoon Se Ah in the past, many also wished for Kim Byung Chul to date Uhm Jung Hwa in real life. 

Kim Byung Chul is known for being part of various hit K-dramas. Whatever character he portrays, he always becomes the scene stealer of the series. 

The actor was part of the popular K-dramas All of Us Are Dead, Sisyphus: The Myth, Pegasus Market, Doctor Prisoner, Mr. Sunshine, Goblin, Descendants of the Sun, and more. 

Aside from Perfect Family, Kim Byung Chul will also join the upcoming K-drama Dominant Species together with Joo Ji Hoon, Han Hyo Joo, Lee Hee Joon, Lee Moo Saeng, Park Ji Yeon, and Jo Bok Rae.

 

 

Perfect Family will base its story on the webtoon of the same name written by Nyangpa and illustrated by Joo Eun (주은). The K-drama will be directed by Yukisada Isao, the same director of the hit Japanese movie Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World. This will be the first Korean production of the director.

The webtoon-based K-drama will showcase the story of Choi Seon Hee's family who looks perfect and happy in the eyes of everyone. They will struggle as Choi Seon Hee's friend Kyung Ho dies one day. 

Kim Byung Chul will play the role of Choi Jin Hyuk. He is a popular lawyer at a large firm. Before he became a lawyer, he was first a prosecutor but to protect her adopted daughter, Choi Seon Hee, he decided to resign and continue as an ordinary lawyer. 

There is no official confirmation yet on when and where Perfect Family will be released.

Upcoming drama “Perfect Family” (literal title) has unveiled more of the cast lineup!

Based on a popular webtoon, “Perfect Family” will tell the story of a model student named Sun Hee, who is always at the top of her class, and her happy and seemingly perfect family. However, the family goes through an unexpected series of events after the sudden murder of Sun Hee’s friend Kyung Ho.

Previously on August 14, the drama confirmed the cast lineup of Park Ju Hyun, who will take on the role of Choi Sun Hee, as well as Kim Byung Chul and Yoon Se Ah, who will play Sun Hee’s adoptive parents Choi Jin Hyuk and Han Eun Joo, respectively.

On August 28, additional cast members were revealed to play characters who will draw out complicated relationships with Sun Hee. Choi Ye Bin and Lee Si Woo will be portraying the characters Lee Soo Yeon and Ji Hyun Woo, respectively. Yoon Sang Hyun and Kim Myung Soo will each play Choi Hyun Min and Lee Sung Woo, adding excitement to the story.

Big Tents produces drama ‘Perfect Family’ at a cost of 14 billion won

 

 

[Deal Site Reporter Kim Tae-ho] 'Big Tents', a drama production company and KOSDAQ listed company, is producing the drama 'Perfect Family' with a total production cost of over 14 billion won. The company planned to reap billions of won in profits by broadcasting this work on the global online video platform (OTT) 'Amazon Prime' and domestic terrestrial broadcasters.

 

Big Tenz plans to invest more than 14 billion won in the total production cost of ‘Perfect Family’. There are a total of 12 episodes, with a budget of approximately 1.2 billion won per episode. The main and supporting cast fee is approximately 6.6 billion won. Actors Kim Byeong-cheol, Yoon Se-ah, Park Joo-hyun, Lee Si-woo, Choi Ye-bin, and Yoon Sang-hyun appear in this work. The director was Isao Yukisada, who directed the films 'Crying Love at the Center of the World' (2004) and 'River's Edge' (2018).

Big Tents expects ‘Perfect Family’ to generate sales exceeding 19 billion won. The company plans to sell this work to multiple broadcasting stations. It is reported that the overseas broadcasting rights will be transferred to 'Amazon Prime', a global OTT. Instead, this platform preserves drama production costs and a certain amount of margin, and organizes the work as an original series.

 

Big Tents plans to directly own the domestic broadcasting rights. In this case, the company can generate more sales by programming additional works on domestic broadcasting stations. It is reported that Big Tents is currently discussing supplying dramas with terrestrial broadcasters. 'Perfect Family' is expected to air as early as next year.

A Big Tenz official said, “We have made plans to broadcast the drama ‘Perfect Family’ on multiple platforms,” and added, “We are currently filming the work and discussing the airing date.”

Previously, the drama confirmed that Park Ju Hyun will take on the role of Choi Sun Hee, the daughter who is embroiled in a murder case, harboring secrets yet to be unveiled.

Kim Byung Chul and Yoon Se Ah will play Choi Sun Hee’s parents Choi Jin Hyuk and Han Eun Joo, respectively. This collaboration marks their reunion following their memorable portrayal as a married couple in the hit drama “SKY Castle.”

The upcoming thriller Perfect Family drops stills. 

Perfect Family tells the story of Seon Hee and her family, who outwardly appear happy and perfect to everyone. However, their world is shaken when Seon Hee's friend, Kyung Ho, dies, setting off a series of major twists. 

The mystery revolves around Choi Seon Hee (Park Ju Hyun), who is involved in the murder case, and the truth she hides, as well as the events that unfold involving her father, Choi Jin Hyuk (Kim Byung Chul), and mother, Ha Eun Joo (Yoon Se Ah).

 

 

The K-drama is helmed by the renowned Japanese director Yukisada Isao. 

Perfect Family boasts an impressive lineup of actors, including the SKY Castle couple Yoon Se Ah and Kim Byung Chul, as well as Yoon Sang Hyun alongside young talents such as Kim Young Dae, Park Ju Hyun, Choi Ye Bin, and Lee Shi Woo, with a special appearance by Kim Myung Soo.
