“Cruel Intern” tells the story of a working mother in her 40s who has to fulfill a secret mission in order to return to work.

Go Hae-Ra (Ra Mi- ran)  worked hard as a merchandiser and was even recognized as the best merchandiser. After having a child, she quit her job. For the past 7 years, she put all of her energy into raising her child. Go Hae-Ra now wants to resume her working career, but she struggles to find a job, One day, she takes an interview for an entry level position at Market House. There, she meets Choi Ji-Won (Uhm Ji Won), who is the director of the product planning team. Go Hae-Ra and Choi Ji-Won once worked together at another company. With her charisma and leadership abilities, Choi Ji-Won holds the real power at Market House. She also uses any means to survive at her company. Choi Ji-Won decides to hire Go Hae-Ra for an intern position in the product planning team. She offers a sweet, but cruel suggestion to Go Hae-Ra.

Character descriptions

Na Hae Ra is full of curiosity and has a spontaneous personality. She makes many mistakes and accidents. She is positive and brave, but she struggles with time and money. One day, Na Ae Ran returns to society after a seven-year break from her career. She gets a chance to come back to work, but in return, she must induce other working mothers to quit.

 

Choi Ji-Won (Uhm Ji Won), who is the director of the product planning team work with  Na Haera At another company. Actress Ra Mi Ran is in talks for a new tvN drama!

On August 14, Xportsnews reported that Ra Mi Ran had been cast as the lead role in the upcoming tvN drama “Cruel Miss Ae Ran” (literal translation). In response, her agency C-JeS Entertainment shared that she is currently reviewing the offer.

“Cruel Miss Ae Ran” tells the story of a working mother in her 40s who has to fulfill a secret mission in order to return to work. It is said that she was offered the role of the main character Na Ae Ran in the drama.

Na Ae Ran is full of curiosity and has a spontaneous personality. She makes many mistakes and accidents. She is positive and brave, but she struggles with time and money. One day, Na Ae Ran returns to society after a seven-year break from her career. She gets a chance to come back to work, but in return, she must induce other working mothers to quit.

The tvN drama will be 12 episodes long, and it is scheduled to air in the first half of next year. It will be directed by producing director (PD) Han Sang Jae, who directed various dramas like “Rude Miss Young-Ae” and “A Poem a Day.”

Ra Mi Ran has impressed fans with her acting in diverse projects like the movie “The Dude in Me” and drama “Black Dog.” She was recently confirmed to star alongside Lee Seo Jin in a new TVING drama.

Uhm Ji-won, working hard on drama power from 'Little Women' to 'Cruel Intern'

 

 

The tvN drama <Little Women>, which Uhm Ji-won has confirmed to appear in, tells the story of three sisters who are poor but grew up amicably against the richest and most powerful family in Korea. Director Kim Hee-won of tvN's 'Vincenzo' and 'The Man Who Became King', and writer Jeong Seo-gyeong, who wrote 'The Handmaiden' and 'Kind Venus', joined forces to gather topics. Uhm Ji-won takes on the role of Won Sang-ah, the daughter of a general, the wife of a politician, and the director of an art museum in Little Women. In the play, Won Sang-ah's daughter Hyorin becomes entangled with Oh In-hye (Park Ji-hoo), and the relationship with these sisters begins.

 

Uhm Ji-won also confirmed her appearance in Tving's original <Cruel Intern> and shows a different transformation from <Little Women>. “Cruel Intern” will tell the story of Ko Hae Ra (Ra Mi Ran) who returns to work as an intern after a 7-year hiatus. Ra Mi Ran and Uhm Ji Won will reunite in this project for the first time in 10 years since the film “Hope,” which was released in 2013.

The newly released poster features Ko Hae Ra announcing her return to being employed, sharing, “I’m returning to work as an experienced intern.” Without taking off the pink rubber gloves that are for doing the house chores, Hae Ra puts on her blazer which she has been keeping in her closet for a long time. Although Hae Ra was a competent merchandiser who used to excel at her job seven years ago, she has no choice but to return to work as an intern at the age of her 40s because of her career break. Regardless, Hae Ra’s eyes are firm and charismatic as if she is determined to do better than anyone else at work.

 

A representative of TVING remarked, “Ra Mi Ran, who has unique acting skills that make viewers relate to her characters, succeeds in getting back to employment. Go Hae Ra's journey has been an obstacle-laden marked by repeated failures in her attempts to get back into the workforce after seven years. Undeterred, she goes all out, even joining as an intern. And during her job interview, she unexpectedly comes face to face with Choi Ji Won, who used to be her colleague in the past. Back then, Go Hae Ra was a formidable "workaholic" MD, who used to even reprimand her team members.

Ra Mi-ran returns to the workplace in Cold Blooded Intern

Get ready for some office hijinks in TVING’s upcoming comedy Cold Blooded Intern. Starring Ra Mi-ran (The Good Bad Mother) and Eom Ji-won (Little Women), the story centers around two women who follow different career trajectories and meet again after seven years.

The newest trailer opens with Go Hae-ra (Ra Mi-ran) introducing herself at a job interview, but the responses she gets only pertain to her age and employment gap. Her husband, played by Lee Jong-hyuk (Our Blooming Youth), says that it is not easy, but Hae-ra replies, “Even if I fail, I go! I’m Go Hae-ra.”

 

Declaring an end to career interruptions, the show teases Hae-ra’s comeback to society, and in the middle of her job hunt, she runs into her former colleague, Choi Ji-won (Eom Ji-won). She offers Hae-ra a position on her team as an intern, and though Hae-ra fumes at first, her attitude switches completely as she promises to do whatever they ask.

 

 

Hae-ra is not the only one adjusting to her new title since fellow team member So Jae-seob, played by Kim In-kwon (Heartbeat), absolutely freaks out when he sees his previous superior return as an intern, no less. He calls her a scary person, and we see Hae-ra in the past scold him for interrupting a meeting to tell her that something happened to her family. On the other hand, Ji-won seems to have hired Hae-ra for that very reason and gives her a special task: convince working moms at their company who are about to go on leave to quit, instead.

With savageness, experience, and wit, Hae-ra navigates the workplace, but life does not always go as planned. Everyone at the office calls the intern over for help, and despite her skills, Hae-ra runs into simple loading errors and gets reprimanded for doing everything wrong. She screams for someone to save her, but all these woes may be worth it if Hae-ra can reclaim her old position again. Considering Ji-won’s offer, the trailer ends with Hae-ra vowing to subdue everything.

Directed by PD Han Sang-jae (You Who Forgot Poetry) and written by Park Yeon-kyung (The Sound of Your Heart Reboot), TVING’s Cold Blooded Intern premieres August 11.

"Cold Blooded Intern" Starring Ra Mi Ran and Uhm Ji Won Releases Character Posters

Only a week left and Cold Blooded Intern will officially premiere.

Before the K-drama premieres, TVING released new character posters of the main leads Ra Mi Ran and Uhm Ji Won.

Cold Blooded Intern will tell the story of a woman who returned to work as an intern after a seven-year hiatus through a secret and cruel offer from the director of the product planning team of Market House. 

The upcoming K-drama will be directed by Han Sang Jae (A Poem a Day) and written by Park Yeon Kyung (The Sound of Your Heart: Reboot). 

Ra Mi Ran and Uhm Ji Won will be joined by Kang Sung Ho, Kim Yool Ho, Kim Mi Hye, and Lee Jong Hyuk. 

The character poster released showcased the great contrast between the new intern Go Hae Ra played by Ra Mi Ran, and the director Choi Ji Won, portrayed by Uhm Ji Won. 

Go Hae Ra was once a successful MD. After she joined the company, she easily got promoted because of her skills. However, she had to quit and make a hiatus after devoting herself to her family. Seven years after, she decided to get employed once again but she returns as an intern.

Choi Ji Won on the other hand became even more successful after Go Hae Ra made her hiatus. She went all in with work and became the director of the company. 

Although the two are currently opposites in terms of careers, they also have something in common. Both have to survive and thrive on their own in their careers.

The upcoming K-drama will reveal the experiences of people while pursuing their careers as well as the change in social positions of the two as they meet again after seven years. 

 

 

 

The production team stated, "Please look forward to the story of a working mother Go Hae Ra and her struggles with re-employment and survival in the workplace and Choi Ji Won's participation in this."

The upcoming K-drama Cold Blooded Intern will premiere on August 11 on TVING.
