JYJ Donates 60 Million Won Proceeds from Photo Auction to Charity

JYJ has generously donated the proceeds of the photo auction from their “2015 Membership Week” to support the arts in Korea and help those in need this winter.

Their agency C-JeS Entertainment has stated, “The works that were displayed in August at the photo exhibition during JYJ’s membership week have been auctioned off, and the 60 million won (approximately $51,000) proceeds have been donated to support theater companies and provide items to welfare facilities.”

They go on to state that it was JYJ’s intention that the money be used to support theater companies in order to encourage the development of culture and the arts, as well as to provide much-needed help at welfare facilities for children and at long-term care facilities for the elderly.

On behalf of JYJ, C-JeS Entertainment donated 5 million won (approximately $4,200) each to six theater groups in Seoul’s theater district of Daehangno. In addition, they provided winter shoes to kids at the Sung Ae Won orphanage, and rice and other groceries to the elderly at long-term care facilities. 10 million won (approximately $8,500) was also given to the children’s hospital at Seoul National University Hospital to help cover the cost of surgery for children who aren’t able to afford it.

This year marked the fourth annual “JYJ Membership Week,” which featured an exhibit of over a thousand unreleased, behind-the-scenes photos of the group from the past six years, which were later auctioned off.
