when i read them filming in a car, my mind immediately thought of Shiwon's confession to Yoon Jae on the car. That was one of my favorite scene because i thought "seriously, shi won, saying you like the guy (who likes you so much)while driving? wouldn;t you get into a car accident by that startling confession?"

Since there are articles coming up about possibility of JH being a pilot then i want to share what @blue_angel_1004 once share in main thread about the name KIM JUNG HWAN

"Kim Jung Hwan" is the real life name of Shin PD's sunbae producer at KBS back when Shin PD worked at KBS.  Kim Jung Hwan directed KBS teen dramas "Sharp" and "Jungle Fish."

Considering Dr. Kim Jae Joon (Trash's name) from "Answer Me 1994" was the name of a doctor who guested on "Qualifications of Men" back when Shin PD was the PD (and Shin PD later admitted that's where he got the name) could it be possible that one of the earlier speculations is correct that JH becomes a PD after all??

 

and then I notice @leekyuphii share eyesonryu tumblr post with RJY with Sam Okyere and when i search about him he is in the entertainment industry as a host.And I thing RJY is filming with him.

anyway, i have to admit sometimes, we say some coincidental scene or thing as a clue (like Lee Mi Yeon being JH crush and her playing the adult DS). But really, we admit that it's a clue but it will not be a deciding clue. because we have the flow of the story to support our belief.

whoa KBS? isn't Sam Okyere is starring in a new drama in KBS? it's called Murim High School. maybe they met in KBS building or sth while JH is shooting. lmao I'm guessing all sort of things.

The latest spoiler is all I can think about sigh.... anyway, I think we all had our fair share of happiness tonight (for both ships actually) with the spoilers presented but I think and know that we'll leave it upon Shin PD and the whole staff to give us the best story there is come the episodes. I'm really happy that we all recovered from the preview troll a while ago 

If we keep this positivity up I think we'll still be sane once the finale comes lol. Thank you guys for the happiness!  

Edit: Oh no I really wanted Hyeri to join the trip as she needs rest, she's so hardworking all this time but sigh... being an idol is very hard, still I hope she gets a lot of rest after the show

A quick image search identified the car as a Ssangyong Korando, 1994 type. I went on some car dealer sites as well and it apparently sells for ~$8k - $10k-ish per unit!  That means either Junghwan has a generous salary, or their family struck gold again somehow hahaha

On a related note, I literally died after seeing the car photo. Like... Some great Reply OTP moments have happened inside of cars, and it seems inevitable that this scene would be just as important  i can't wait!!!!!

edit: you know you're in way too deep when a k-drama makes you look through car dealer websites to look for the price of a car in the drama HAHAHAHAHA

You guys know the show 'Community' Well there's this episode where one of the characters (Troy) goes to buy a couple of pizzas and when he comes back World War III has broken out in his apartment....it feels like that here. I go to sleep, I wake up...and we have spy espionage happening?....why are we going on people's profile pages to check their ship...?....what does it matter that someone believes Deok Sun don't give a richard simmons about Junghwan and only has eyes for Taek in episode 7...and no, no, no we are not waiting for the big reveal to go in the main thread and be all "I told you so. I told you so. I, I, I told you so."

Both sides have gotten too deep. Come on now ya'll! We got only 4 episodes left and "they doth protest too much me thinks" Let it go. We love Taek but we don't always have the nicest words for him or his shippers so let's just take it as something we all do. Also no don't be all "I told you. Didn't I you? Cause I told you. Mmmhmm, and when did I tell you? A long time ago. And what did I say would happen? Exactly what just happened!" (though I am petty enough to do it in my head to some posters, heh). NO resist that temptation. It's just a show. Treat others how you would like to be treated and for some of ya'll remember how it felt when Chilbong didn't get the girl? You would have hated it, if we Jeong/Oppa shippers had rubbed in your faces about how right we were right? Right...2 weeks left. 4 more episodes and then it's done. Let the show do the talking for us and let's just try to be chill and civil and above some noise okay?

Hello everyone! It's my first time posting here but I've been a lurker in soompi since AM 1994. I really love this series! I've been a fan since the first installment but I think this is the best series so far. Love the families and the friendships in this show! I didn't know any of the actors coming into watching '88 (except for Sung Dong Il, Lee Il Hwa and Kim Sung Kyun who've been in past installments). Even Hyeri and Park Bogum who seem to be the most popular among the cast were new faces to me. But I always trust PD Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung to give us a great story and they've proven me 3 out of 3 already.

Anyway, just wanted to comment here because I'm a JH-DS shipper and I've been reading all your comments since page 1 so I thought I should at least say Hi to you all and thank you for all your awesome insights and warm support for this ship!

I wanted to share to you my own insights about the show. I think the '88 characters are the most lovable and fleshed out of all the installments which makes the story most endearing of all three. All 5 in the squad have their charms and flaws. Deok Sun though she is average (or less than average) when it comes to academics, she's so sunny and has a golden heart as we can see in her interactions in school and in her family. I love how she seemed tomboyish and really immature at first but gradually blossomed into such a pretty lady and became more mature about her future and even in dealing with friendships and relationships.

Jung Hwan seems cold and prickly but is really affectionate and caring in a subtle yet deep way (with his parents, hyung, and also with his friends). I love how he is a top student yet also has varied interests (sports, dancing, movies, etc). And I bet he'll be really popular with the girls come college. His puppy love turned heartbreaking love for Deok Sun is one of the best things in this show! And I love how he is so similar to his mom but when asked to choose between his mom and dad, he chose his dad! Which I think makes it no surprise that he loves Deok Sun. (And as Kim Appa loves mom Mi Ran, I believe so does Deok Seon to Jung Hwan)

Sun Woo is a dependable, sweet, loyal son and friend and is like an epitome of the good guy (being class president, top student, and all) but he's not all perfect (he curses, drinks, gets upset with his friends and about his mom and taek's  dad, etc) and he even dates a noona. He's a gentleman but not a push-over (as how he stood up against the sunbae in school) and he really knows how to pursue a girl.

Taek is the genius that many kdramas rave about but he is so human. I love how strong his character is (competitive, focused in baduk) despite being reserved but he is also not arrogant nor is he intimidating to his friends (he is so popular and rich and genius but that's not why his friends like him). He's a real quiet kid yet he has fun with his friends and I'm sure the 4 others enjoy his company, given that they've been hanging out since childhood.

And Dong Ryong, I was afraid he'd be left out in the development and would just be another character added to lighten the mood and give laughs. But I love his character! It's interesting that he is their teacher's son, not academically smart but emotionally smart. And I find it interesting that he is the youngest of 5 brothers. Having a big family, his parents might have found finances a struggle and that is why his mom works. I have a feeling his father was also playful like Dong Ryong in his younger years, as how they are similar and know each other well (how his dad knows his tricks and how he knows his dad's tricks in the go-stop game). As the youngest, he must have observed a lot of things from his hyungs (their experiences, relationships, etc) and I believe that's where he gets his wisdom as the counselor of the group. I often observe it from friends who grew up like Dong Ryong (youngest of a bunch, with siblings significantly older than him), they have a kind of wisdom that seem to have come from someone who is old and experienced or they think like an adult. And that's why I was really hoping and curious to learn more about his family and his hyungs.

Not to mention Bora, who is intelligent, quarrelsome, strong, yet warm-hearted. I just love how she came bringing the jar of liquor with that mean face of hers (I think I saw myself in her in that scene lol), how she came to help and defend Jung Bong and also when she teased him about him dating, and how she gave Sunwoo's mom a ride while singing her activist songs. And I love how this wild aggressive lady's heart was captured by a gentle, warm guy like Sun woo. No matter how unaffectionate and cold she seems, I bet she's a romantic deep inside, seeing how she was moved by Sun woo's charms. And of course, Jung Bong, I love his character, simple-minded yet adventurous, lacking in the basic kind of studies but so knowledgeable about various random things. His mom thinks it's so unlucky that he hasn't passed for the longest time but he is so persevering and lucky in all other things in his life (the free chips, rubics cube, chain mail, radio postcards, Man-Ok, etc). And No eul, I think he is totally realistic as the youngest sibling, he is affectionate to his parents and handles his sisters quite well (he lets them manhandle him but he also outsmarts them at times like the ice cream, and hitting them when they use him as messenger, and is even onto them with their lovelives). I think that's part of why his girlfriend likes him a lot he is true but also warm.

And I haven't even written about the parents. Their characters are also all worthy of praises. Of course, the awesome Kim parents truly shines in this show. (Ra Mi Ran is Ra Mi Ran) She and Kim Sung Kyun really have a great dynamic and chemistry that really makes their family so awesome and definitely my favorite of all families in the Reply series. Seeing how they are like opposite poles, it would be very interesting to know their love story! And how the goofy Kim Appa captured the heart of the cheetah Omma. And I totally agree with one of the posts here that the children really do take after their parents (which just shows how amazing and detailed the writing of this show is). In many ways, I think the older characters are reflected and are parallel with the younger characters, and also with their relationships. And I think we can see how the younger ones' relationships will unfold, reflecting on the relationships of the older characters.

I think I wrote too much for one post (and I haven't even said much about JH-DS lol) and looks like I kept on repeating how I love this show and the characters! But it's definitely true though. And I hope we all enjoy the remaining episodes. I will definitely miss this series.

I can't see his hair. Who cares that they are filming together. The most important thing is the hair. Does he have to ugly half and half down the middle part or is it up and handsome or is it down and handsome like in 1988. SHOW ME THE HAIR!!! Also I am supposed to be staying away from spoilers but I still click links and such *le sigh* I am a weak, weak, weak girl. NO if I waited 2 weeks for a new ep I can go spoiler free (brain: LIES!! me: shut it you useless pink goo). i am screaming loudly twice today because of preview and this spoiler, Okay, i dont want to scream again its already night here. How exicted i am seeing our bus couple now being a jeep couple. I bet JH will looks so hot driving that jeep. yeah, every character name from reply series is the real name from people around shin PD. just a name not character. So the name usually is the name of PD in broadcasting field, like hak chan (is the name of PD too), and kim junghwan too, kim jaejoon too and yoon yoon jae too (the name of one ex manager from an artist). Shin Pd really loves this name so he use it in every character in his drama. i still dont think he will be PD as his future career.. its simply because i wanna see him in doctor white coat or hot uniform from pilot. Hahahahahahaha

wah wah wah...nice research chingu...Thanks for sharing Kim family really get richer i think.(because if that scene really happen in 94, i think JH just start his career whatever it is and havent get that generous salary to bought that expensive car..hahahahahaha) yeah they indeed a lucky family.
