kiinn
@virsvirs I laughed so hard at the FMV. LoL. It's totally misleading but I can't help loving it. Yes, they really should try rom-com. I don't care if it's epic love or whatnot. I don't look like that when I'm drinking. Not fair

This trailer of MLSHR makes me so happy LOL I have no idea what this trailer FMV is saying, but this is so misleading for those who haven't watched MLSHR yet hahaha, it almost makes it seems as if MLSHR were a romantic comedy like Love Actually or something and I laughed my richard simmons off in spite of the language barrier Also who else thinks that Lee Jun Gi and IU should be pair off again in a romcom kdrama? love the creative trailers around... this one has a comedic feel. the one with "Crazy in love" background had a crazy sexy feel.. JG and JE must lurk here with all the creative juices coming from the fans! theyll love it!
Popular Post misspiggie
As fate would have it, I asked: "Who's that guy to LJG's right". Now I found Yoo Ah In & "Six Flying Dragons" to fill my void. Turns out Six Flying Dragons isn't new to me, but at that time I haven't returned to K-drama yet. It does have a storyline reminiscent of MLSHR but I will keep an open mind. Have you heard of the game "Six Degrees of Separation"? Actually LJG & YAI both share the same director (Lee Joon-Ik) in "The King & The Clown" & "The Throne" respectively & both films are among the top 50 highest grossing films in SK. Strangely I have a thing for actors that are not exactly handsome or gorgeous, but I'm certainly charmed by their acting skills & versatility. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I am disappointed by the lack of response to our appeals for the hankie scene but remain hopeful that some day, the cast will reunite, whether for a film or even a sequel to MLSHR. Should it be a film, I doubt I can easily catch it here in the US. But I will certainly entertain the idea of going home to Asia to watch it (& visit my family) in order to show my support. I've fulfilled my goal to help us reach 40,000 postings & will most likely reduce my footprint here -- BUT I'm not totally giving up on this thread yet. If I can find something interesting to contribute, you will certainly hear from me from time to time. It's not easy to move on but I hope one day, everyone will find something to re-ignite that passion of watching an exciting drama again. Maybe LJG will actually bring us together again!!! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Speaking of LJG -- I have never, ever been so enchanted by an actor (actress alike) -- whether Asian, American or British. I may enjoy DOTS or Benedict Cumberbatch in Sherlock, but that's it. I've thought about watching LJG's past shows but realized I might unwittingly compare his other roles to his epic performance as WS, and spoil the fun, so perhaps another time. Thank you ALL OF YOU for keeping me company & certainly, this is not goodbye. To MLSHR AND LJG -- thank you for enlivening my otherwise humdrum life & you will always be UNIQUE & IRREPLACEABLE!
Popular Post oyashirazu
Hi everyone! It’s nice to see that the thread is still active weeks after the last episode, though it’s sad that many people seem to have decided to leave already (probably for their own good, which I can completely relate to). So first of all, thanks so much to everyone who was part of this great community - I was just a lurker most of the time but loved and needed this thread as much as SHR itself. So, this will be a very long post. Please put up with it because I need it for my post-SHR-syndrome-treatment First, about the ending: I belong to those who loved the ending immediately from their first watch and even more so after the second one. I for one actually was GLAD that Wang So and Hae Su didn’t meet in the future – I understand why the production team decided against showing that scene. Modern Wang So (with or without memories) handing Hajin his handkerchief would immediately wipe out the heart-wrenching and intense undertone of the last scenes (Hae Su remembering and crying for Gwangjong being left alone thousand years in the past and the haunting scene of him determined to find her wherever she is) and would make this drama end on a much too light note that wouldn’t give the last 19 episodes (and the title ‘Moon Lovers’) justice, at least in my opinion. I actually like the last piggyback scene, as well: a happy memory they shared which is cute but bittersweet and gives closure to their relationship. It showed that they did have many happy moments but a grand love like theirs can actually only be called grand because of their eventual separation, thus they are the star-crossed 'moon' lovers who only meet under the condition of a total eclipse and are bound to separate. That’s why the ending which accentuated the impossibility of their relationship but at the same time some hope through Gwangjong leaving traces of himself (the portrait, the pictures) for her to find thousand years later and the slight hint that he himself might come for her, was perfectly satisfying for me. I shed just the right amount of tears but also found some kind of closure and peace after the emotional torture of the last episodes. I wouldn’t have the ending any other way. Even weeks after the drama ended, I like it because I still cannot stop thinking about all its possible meanings. The ending is like the rest of the drama: No obvious and direct explanations for what happened or is going to happen but thousand hints and possibilities for us to dwell upon. I love the (after-)effect this drama has on us. That’s why I don’t need a second season of Wang So and Hae Su meeting in the future. Actually, I HOPE that there won’t be a second season. PLEASE DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN. EVER. IT WILL DESTROY THE MEMORY OF SHR. A spin-off movie or a special episode would be okay, though. But I don’t need it. What I need is that re-edited DVD, hopefully with a completely new re-edit of the drama. I don’t only want some missing scenes added here and there but for the editors to edit the series just like they would if the drama wouldn’t be restricted by its episode number of twenty. @briseis's post about all the deleted scenes illustrated so well what we’re missing on: There’s so much footage that could make this drama even more epic. Some scenes like the one where Wang So is riding to Songak just need to be a little longer to give this drama the right pace and atmosphere. I recently watched the drama Chuno (or The Slave Hunters) which helped me make sense of this even more. Chuno is quite slow paced and it shows beautiful landscape sceneries like SHR. Compared to SHR Chuno gives each scene much more time to make the viewer soak it all in (though sometimes it was a little too slow and draggy for my taste) – especially the landscapes. What I liked about that series was the atmospheric undertone the lengths of those scenes created in combination with the instrumental music. What I’m trying to say is, SHR could profit from giving many scenes just some more time to let the viewer take them all in: SHR has the footage (and the beautiful instrumentals) to create such an effect. The narye and rain ritual scenes in SHR, for example, showed that it can be done right! Time – or rather the lack of it – really is the one and only weak point of SHR in my opinion. It’s the reason why the series is bound to be ‘badly’ edited sometimes. There is too much in the script for a saeguk of only twenty episodes. And they filmed too much footage that ultimately had to be cut out. There is no time to linger over one moment just for creating some atmospheric undertone or else the story couldn’t even be told properly (they already had to give up on the full development on some side characters like Chae-Ryung even though they had the footage - so sad). I am sure that the production team itself wanted to show MORE of the material and had the capability and talent to do so – even the editors. It must have been a pity for them, as well, to not be able to show what they had... Who would go through the pain of filming so many scenes and not utilize them to their fullest in the end if they COULD? It's a waste of precious money and time. So the only problem is this drama only having twenty episodes. I don’t know why they went with twenty to begin with but the reason they couldn’t extend after it started its broadcast is probably the fact that it was sold to so many international stations and was simulcast, so they couldn’t just give the SBS version more episodes than the international version(s) without causing outrage or maybe even breaking the contracts with the international stations (I’m no expert, but it would make sense)? It’s just so sad to know there is so much more to SHR and the material/footage is THERE, but it might never see the daylight only because of a lack of episodes… This drama doesn’t only have the potential to be more than we saw, it actually has the FOOTAGE to make the potential reality. With most other dramas I don’t care if they didn’t show their full potential in the end because they probably just didn’t have the time to film the footage for that – but In SHR’s case it’s THERE. Well, the footage might not be complete or perfect because they had to rush through filming in the end but I think with using all they filmed, this would be an even grander drama. Let’s just hope PD-nim is a perfectionist and will regret NOT giving this drama the chance to shine in its full potential,... and... whatever, just give us the damn DVD!! So, that’s the only thing I feel the need to find fault with this drama. I still love it the way it is, though, and it might actually become my all-time favorite because even though there are some flaws due to the lack of episodes, SHR did so many things right. And the things that were just right can hardly be topped in my opinion. But I will wait with my final judgement until I’ve re-watched the whole series (that will happen once I’m able to watch it with a more objective stance… so not right now). Lastly, as much as I liked the drama, I loved this thread. Even though there were like 200+ pages to backread after I went for a (much needed) trip after the last episode, I felt obliged to read every post; because I was a lurker since day one of this thread, so it was in my pride to read everything here. This was a great journey and your posts are part of it. From a lurkers perspective, it always was really fun to observe your reactions. For most episodes it went like this: Silence before the storm right before the episode, crazy speed when the re-cappers (Thank you all!) were speeding through the dialogues and the raw reactions from the others, even more CRAZY speed after the episode and very often quite negative and outrageous reactions which would continue for one day until lastly, people would re-watch, analyze, calm down and start liking (or at least understanding) the episodes. I for one most of the times enjoyed all the episodes and the development (even though I’m very sad and disappointed that some scenes and dialogues I imagined this drama would definitely show us in the course of it never came). So sometimes it was too painful to read your posts (and maybe I skipped some of the more hateful ones because I was so INVESTED and hated that people were hating), but at the same time I appreciate all the variety of reactions and their critical nature. And I have to give a thumps up to the production team here because this drama really did manage to make people react in many different ways. THIS DRAMA DID SO MUCH TO US and that’s probably why so many of us have some kind of love-hate-relationship with SHR. I love this drama alone for this fact. Sorry for the way too long post. I somehow needed this. Edited November 19, 2016 by oyashirazu
pass3rby
I know it had been posted here like, many times. But i still like to listen to "The Song that made the King fell in love to a Court Lady." So many feels. Spoiler The only thing i object of MLSHR is that Soo did not die in WangSo's arms. I don't have any objection about the ending, that they don't meet in the future or anything else. I am one of few that like the ending, and think that the ending is awesome. But the writer is really cruel and made the love story even more brutal by not letting HaeSoo saw WangSo for the last time, vice versa. I still couldn't bring myself to watch Ep 20 SBS version. I want to get over it, but on the other hand, i don't wanna end it. I don't want any closure, in fact. I wanna keep MLSHR alive. I know it's not good for the health, but i am still enjoying the torture somehow.

Which means I don't know if my heart can take watching it right now. lol The one that got Vanness in it? I accidentally watched a scene of it on IG, the one where Vanness saved the girl from falling but he ended up almost falling himself. His hairstyle reminded me of Wang So and the setting looked much like the scene of Wook giving Soo the bracelet. But the thing is while I have nothing against Vanness, he is not appealing for me, plus the whole saving the girl but end up saved by her is silly. And I couldn't help scrutinizing his face (and expecting extreme closeup scene lol) to see his emotion. Still, nobody comes close to LJG's level. It's nothing personal about Vanness, really. In fact all Asian male actors except LJG now look like walking potatoes to me haha. I'm doomed.
