kappy
@WenJinYing - Long time no see! Good to have you back and sharing that interesting article on ceramics. Thank you. Japan ceramics is noticeably missing, I was thinking.
kappy
A few things I found out about Prince and King Gwanghae (some of you already know) -Born 1574, Died 1641 (67 years old at death)Ruled 1608 - 1623 (15-year reign)The hanja (or kanji, Chinese characters) for Gwang Hae stand for "light" and "sea"His father was King Seonjo, and his mother was Lady Kim (concubine). He became Crown Prince around or in 1592 at the age of 18 at the beginning of the Japanese invasion. With as much good as he did for his country, I wonder if the powers-that-be today can change his -gun to that of a true king. Would that be so difficult? It might be - I really have no idea - but just thought I'd throw that out there. I hear of things being decided and done way after the death of leaders of the nation ("moving" remains to other burial areas, beheading 17 years after the person had died -yes, you heard right.) kappy
@stevie8 - If King Gwang Hae did kill many people including his brothers by denouncing them as conspirators, then maybe things should remain as they are; that is, with the -gun ending and not a "kingly" ending. He started out so well! It saddens me to know he succumbed to the hostile ways of the palace. Perhaps it got to the point that he felt it's either kill or be killed. I know that movie Masquerade shows him in that same, less favorable light. That's why when I saw GOF after Masquerade, I found it hard to believe it was the same man.I would like to think that there are some inaccuracies in history, and that all that negative stuff, or at least the worst stuff, fall under that category - inaccuracies. Of course, it could just be me with stars in my eyes wishing they were not true.
kappy
@stevie8! - This page is whacked out. Could you rearrange things in your last post? Maybe things might line up better. Hoping... Thanks!

kappy
@stevie8 - You did it! Thanks.. Now I can click "awesome" on your post.Yeah, sometimes that happens (the whacking out) but I'd only ever seen it with pic and video insertion, not text. Weird..Btw, I'm going to add a few things about Changdeokgung, the palace/government grounds that I visited this year where he resided for some time. I can't believe I'm finally reading the brochure I got from there!
Guest stevie8
@kappy - not sure what i did but it was probably due to the "copying & pasting" the text directly from the website. To correct the mess, I had to paste as "Text" and luckily, that solved the problem. The Prince GH portrayed in GOF and the Gwanghaegun in Masquerade seemed like two totally different characters. How could such a personable young prince in GOF turn out to be a King who was quite the opposite, a hardened King GH? In the movie, he seemed paranoid about plans to assassinate him and he was portrayed as conspiratorial and tyrannical!! Life as a King then must be tough!
