Hi! i am newbie here, been a silent reader for quite a while. I actually a non follower of KDrama. Well, I used to be a hardcore fans years back, and SHK was one of the K actress that I found too beautiful to forget. So, she actually was the only reason I started watching TWTWB. I just hope the ending of this show will not disappoint the viewers. I will totally hate it if the ending is an open ending with no satisfying closure. I still don't mind a sad ending as long as it's a meaningful one. Just don't make the ending as pathetic as 'Stairway To Heaven' which enraged me that I wanted to slam my TV. I know sometimes sad ending leaves deeper impression, but please don't overdo it. Yes, 'STH' did leave me a very deep impression, so deep to the point that I avoided watching K dramas for quite a while. I mean, come on... a guy so devoted to the 'losing-sight-leading-lady' til he gave up his life only to have his eyes donated to her. Another guy also so devoted to her since childhood years, went againts the odds just to be with her. In the end, the eventually blind lady still died & left the ever so devoted guy playing some tunes on a white shiny grand piano in the middle of not so beautiful beach while tidal waves started to roar. Dear TWTWb writers, please do not go that route if you don't want us the fans of TWTWB to have a colossal bloodspits. On a side note, as much as I am addicted to this show, watching TWTWB has been proven to have unhealthy effect on my self image. Never I see any actress with a perfect complexion as SHK, no freckles, no zits, NOTHING!!! Even other actresses' complexions in the shows can't come close to SHK's. And that's still not all! When I watched ep 13, in the scene when OY locked herself in her room after overhearing OS & SW fight, did you guys notice OS's hand when he touched OY's bedroom door? OMG, even this guy's hand is more beautiful than mine!! The fingers & nails are in perfect shape & the nails are shiny, the skin is so smooth & even color. HOW CAN????? :-O That's it!! I am calling my derma tomorrow to set an appointment, & will stop by a mani-pedi salon this weekend. Gotta burn a big hole in my wallet, thanks to TWTWB! :-bd

and i'm torn in between wanting OS&Young become a couple,or just stay as oppa-dongsaeng, since OS is so good at taking care of her,as her oppa T.T

Actor Jo In Sung from the SBS drama "That Winter, The Wind Blows" and actor Kwon Sang Woo from the SBS drama "Yawang" are both living in lies in their roles. Why did they have to resort to that?

** Jo In Sung in "That Winter, The Wind Blows"

Oh Soo (Jo In Sung) steals the identity of a man with the same name who died from a car accident. As soon as he was born, his mother deserted him under a tree. Oh Soo grew up at an orphanage until he was adopted into Park Jin Sung's (Kim Beom) family. Oh Soo and Park Jin Sung are just as close as real blood-related brothers. Both Oh Soo and Park Jin Sung grow up without any special interest in improving their lifestyles in any type of way. Oh Soo eventually grow up into a gambler and a scam artist.

With his blessed appearance, Oh Soo goes through women as often as he eats throughout his life. He had been living without any passion or goals in life. That is, until he met Oh Young (Song Hye Kyo).

Oh Soo falls into a rut when his celebrity ex-girlfriend frames him for stealing $7.8 million from one of her sponsors. Oh Soo even serves time in prison for the crime despite of his innocence. The sponsor, Mr. Kim hires Jo Moo Chul (Kim Tae Woo) to keep an eye on Oh Soo after he is released from prison. Oh Soo is given 100 days to repay the money he "stole" or he is told that he will be killed.

At the time, Oh Soo had been living with Park Jin Sung and another man named Oh Soo. When the other Oh Soo dies one day, Oh Soo and Park Jin Sung find out that he is the only son of the owner of a major conglomerate company. They also learn that Oh Soo, who died, had a father who is also dead and all of his assets have been passed onto his daughter Oh Young. Hearing that Oh Young has not seen her brother for over 20 years, Oh Soo decides to impersonate her brother.

One day, Oh Soo shows up at Oh Young's house claiming to be her brother. The only reason behind this unbelievable act was to somehow steal $7.8 million from her.

Oh Soo was forced to carry on a life that has been tangled up in a web of lies because his life depends on getting that $7.8 million from Oh Young.

** Kwon Sang Woo in "Yawang"

Ha Ryoo (Kwon Sang Woo) meets Joo Da Hae (Soo Ae) 20 years after the last time they saw each other at an orphanage. When Joo Da Hae murders her stepfather who raped her, Ha Ryoo helps her hide his body in a mountain. Ha Ryoo and Joo Da Hae live as husband and wife without any legal paperwork and even give birth to a child named Ha Eun Byul.

The reason she decides to study abroad is to get close to Baek Do Hoon (Jung Yun Ho), the son of Baek Hak Group's CEO Baek Chang Hak (Lee Duk Hwa). Ha Ryoo uses all of the money in his possession to support her then uses all the money he earns to send her to study abroad.

While studying abroad, Joo Da Hae succeeds in seducing Baek Do Hoon and when they return, she gets hired into an impressive position at the Baek Hak Group. Meanwhile, Ha Ryoo is charged with the murder Joo Da Hae committed and goes into prison. Joo Da Hae promises him that she will take good care of their daughter Eun Byul.

However, while Joo Da Hae meets Baek Do Hoon, Eun Byul gets hit by a truck and dies. When Ha Ryoo finds out about everything while he is in prison, he begins to plan his revenge.

When Ha Ryoo gets out of prison, he is reunited with her twin brother Cha Jae Woong (Kwon Sang Woo) after being separated as children, by their father who could only take care of one child. However, Cha Jae Woong gets murdered by Joo Da Hae's brother Joo Yang Hun (Lee Jae Yoon).

Ha Ryoo's hatred for Joo Da Hae has grown into an insurmountable size after losing his daughter and his brother because of her. Ha Ryoo decides to take his brother's identity as a lawyer and continues to plan his revenge. Ha Ryoo becomes close to Baek Do Hoon's older sister, who is actually his biological mother, Baek Do Kyung (Kim Sung Ryung). Ha Ryoo eventually reveals everything about Joo Da Hae's past and drags her out of Baek Hak Group.

In the process however, Baek Do Hoon dies and Ha Ryoo's real identity is revealed.

Oh Soo also gets caught for his lies. Secretary Wang (Bae Jong Ok) and Lawyer Jang (Kim Kyu Cheol) find out about his real identity after a long process. Even though they don't reveal the truth to Oh Young, Jin So Ra tells her everything out of jealousy. Oh Young then asks Oh Soo to go on a trip to a vacation house together and reveals her knowledge of his identity.

Oh Soo lived in lies because his life depended on it while Ha Ryoo did so, in order to take revenge. Regardless of their reasons, neither were successful in achieving their goals or becoming happy.

What if Ha Ryoo didn't steal his brother's identity to take revenge on Joo Da Hae? How different would his life be?

Ha Ryoo is a high school graduate who does not have any special skills. He would have probably ended up working at a restaurant. His life changed completely when he made the decision to carry out his revenge. Ha Ryoo studied while he was in prison and even graduated from college. Then one morning, he was suddenly a successful lawyer working for the Baek Hak Group. Ha Ryoo's passion to take revenge led him to significantly rise up in terms of social status.

Regardless of the fate of Oh Soo and Ha Ryoo, the message underlying all of this drama seems to be clear in both "That Winter, The Wind Blows" and "Yawang": it is that love is necessary unconditionally. Love; it may be a cliché, but it is also a metaphor of life.

Korean hunk takes a page from real self to play latest role

Jo In Sung remains touched by his character in tear-jerker That Winter, The Wind Blows

Popular Korean drama That Winter, The Wind Blows is such a tear-jerker that even its leading man Jo In Sung, 31, gets emotional when recalling the scenes he did.

"The scene where Oh Young's words of comfort heal Oh Soo's painful memories still breaks my heart even now when I think of it," says the Korean heart-throb in an e-mail interview, referring to the scene where his character, Oh Soo, is comforted by the female lead, played by popular actress Song Hye Kyo, last seen in Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmaster.

This drama, which airs every Wednesday and Thursday in Singapore at 8:55pm on Channel One (StarHub Channel 823, mio TV Channels 513 and 60), takes a step away from the recent spate of light-hearted Korean romance dramas such as Rooftop Prince, A Gentleman's Dignity and Cheongdamdong Alice and returns to the tried-and-tested weepy K-drama formula circa 2002, exemplified by Winter Sonata.

The romantic melodrama, which was originally a 2002 Japanese drama called I Don't Need Love, Winter, revolves around a blind heiress, Oh Young, who has lost her wealthy parents. Oh Soo is a conman who poses as her long-lost brother in the hope of seizing her inheritance. The two eventually develop an ill-fated romance.

Oh Soo is Jo's comeback role after his military service and his first TV drama in eight years.

The actor, whose resume includes the tragedy Memories Of Bali (2004), says: "The visual skills of the director, the well-written storyline together with the fantastic coordination of the cast members are the greatest strengths of this drama.

"I thought I would regret all my life if I were to give this drama a miss."

The role, however, was extremely challenging for him.

"Oh Soo is a character with a lot of inner conflict so there are many emotionally intense scenes without any lines."

To prepare for the role, the former model studied looks, facial expressions, fine hand gestures of people and often rehearsed his scenes alone. He even incorporated parts of his personality into the role, which is why he says the character resembles him in certain ways.

"Oh Soo's actions and way of speaking reflect my real self."

If what the actor says is true, then he must be quite the romantic as well, much like his character Oh Soo in the drama who shares many romantic moments with Oh Young.

One particular scene has captured the hearts of many viewers. The scene features the leads sharing a stick of cotton candy while Oh Soo looks into Oh Young's eyes.

According to Jo, the scene went smoothly without him nor Song having to eat too much cotton candy.

"Personally, I was looking forward to see if the scene came out well and I felt good that many viewers like this scene."

OMG I don't remember 3 or 4 days that I did not log in to Soompi and now I have 688 comments to read, wow.   Thank you everyone for the comments, clips, recaps, news, pictures and the preview.

I think OS did not take a suitcase of money that Young gave him.  In the long preview, after OY said she loved him and what he lied to her is not guilty, he had tears on his eyes and stand there for a little bit than I saw him walk back to his room.  May be he left the money there for Jang to take that money to pay for OY's surgery.   Why can we find a good man like OS in real life???   :P

@Loucong:   Hahaha you have a meaningful picture of the two trees in the middle of the snow field, hope OY and OS will be together at the end like your picture, both next to each other like that.  Either happy or sad ending as long as they are together that make me or may be everyone here feel good.  And it will be a memory drama to remember for a long time.

Wow JIS said OS's character is some what resemble himself, that mean he was so romantic, generous, caring, loving and nice man.  My goodness he had everything that why even older women fell in love with him too.   Whoever his other half is so lucky to have him for her life.

Jo In Sung Warms the Hearts of “That Winter” Female Staff with Gifts

Jo In Sung might be getting a nickname soon as “Santa Claus.”

It hasn’t been long since Jo In Sung gave chocolates to the staff of his current drama, “That Winter, The Wind Blows” for White Day, but the generous actor seems to be a never-ending source of gifts, as evidenced by his recent present of cosmetics to the female staff.

Jo In Sung personally handed out the best-selling cosmetics from the brand that he is currently a sponsor for in a show of appreciation for the staff’s hard work and sacrifice. A representative from the drama stated, “Jo In Sung gave a special gift to the staff to protect their skin from the cold weather and lack of sleep. This will be a good present to the staff whose members are working day and night.”

In related news, “That Winter, The Wind Blows,” continues to dominate the Wednesday-Thursday drama lineup as it heads toward the final weeks of its run. As the finale draws near, fans are getting more curious about  how the tragically complicated relationship between Jo In Sung and Song Hye Gyo’s characters will turn out. Will it be a sad ending or happy ending?
