I am glad the King is wise & not so useless.. just sad that he can't do anything to save Deokman from marrying a crazy guy..

And I am happy the grandma is talking a firm stand & taking care of Yushin.. she's more sensible than the grandpa..

I was happy that arrogant Hwarang was captured.. I wish Yushin just left him there..  :D

Waiting for the next episodes..

@nikachan2008 : im not sure about the history events ... but we'd better leave it aside and enjoy other things. But in truth, the previous post about the annals of Queen Seondeok already mentioned the fact that the queen didn't have any male consorts or lovers.

I think the king was unable to save her , since the marriage was presided over by the dowager queen Sado , and her most effective "motto" was to uphold the royal lineages by having a prince, so there's no legitimate reason to prevent it. At the time , there's none thinking of having a female ruler.

[-O< I want Joo Mi sister to come back ... my first impression on her is she's come across as more regal. :x

idk how far the filming progress is going but the episodes will be broadcasted properly until they are running out and they should think of delay if required.

i hear from a friend says that the original story is Choi Su Jong isn't meant to join the drama until episode 20 but they've changed the story a lots to boost the ratings. But I think the very reason is not only that, when make him join the drama after episode 20 is too late and it's no use to over-lengthen the story.

Does anyone still think that evil queen Seungman (picture above) will later become Queen Jindeok ? Since I somewhat confuse about it , I protest this opinion because it's still a long way to go and I bet they won't change history that far.

ANNALS OF KING UIJA - THE LAST BAEKJE KING (?-660. R.641-660)

Uija was the first son of King Mu. He became a Crown Prince on 632 and became the King on March, 641. His fillial piety and affection for his siblings were so great that he was called the Zengzi(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zengzi) of the East.

Unlike his nickname, however, he showed very ambitious and aggressive policies as soon as he became the king. On August of 641 and January of 642, he sent diplmoats to Tang. On February of 642, he marched through the whole Baekje to learn the popular sentiment of the people. On July of 642, Uija himself led the army against Shilla and conquered 40 fortress including Mihu Fortress. On August, Baekje's General Yoon Choong conquered Dae Ya Fotress of Shilla and killed Poom Seok the Lord of Dae Ya and his wife Kotaso(KCC's daughter). Uija rewarded Yoon Choong by giving him 20 horses and 1000 sacks of grain.

On November of 643, Uija signed a peace treaty with Goguryeo. Uija attacked Shilla while after doing this and Shilla called Tang for help. Uija retreated when he heard the news. On January of 644, Uija sent a diplomat to Tang.

On 649, Tang's second invasion of Goguryeo ended in failure. On April of 649, Emperor Taizong passed away. On 652, Uija sent a dilomat to Tang. On 653, Uija allied with Japan. His alliance with Japan and Goguryeo was necessary in case Shilla allied with Tang to attack Baekje. On August of 655, Uija took over 30 Shilla fortresses.

Uija spent all his days drinking and sleeping with concubines after all the victories in Shilla. Prime Minister Sung Choong was imprisoned for telling Uija to stop. He eventually died in prison. King Uija supported Imja over Sung Choong.

On 658, Tang sent Cheng Ming Zhen and Xui Rengui to invade Goguryeo and re-invaded on 659. On June of 660, Tang General Su Dingfang led the army of 130,000 to attack Baekje. Shilla helped Tang with 50,000 troops.

King Uija summoned his subjects to discuss a plan, but none of the subjects seemed to agree with each other. Therefore, Uija sent a messenger to the exiled former Prime Minister Heung Soo to ask his opinion. Heung Soo thought Baekje had to block the path to the Baek River and Tan Hyun. However, other subjects disagreed with Heung Soo and insisted that they should lure Tang soldiers to Baek River to kill all of them at once.

Uija went with the idea of Heung Soo's opponents, which turned out to be a total failure. Tang and Shilla alliance quickly crossed the Baek River to get to Shilla's capital city of Sabi. Uija gave General Gyebaek 5,000 soldiers to fight back. Gyebaek encamped at Hwangsan and held off Shilla for days. Gyebaek won 4 times, but he couldn't overcome the difference of army size and was killed in action.

Uija then sent the rest of Baekje soldiers to go fight the Tang forces at the suburbs of Woongjin, but they had very difficult time fighting Tang's huge army. Uija had no choice but to flee to Woongjin Fortress with his son Crown Prince Hyo. Uija's second son Tae ruled as an acting monarch after these two fled.

Crown Prince Hyo's son Moonsa told his uncle Yoong, "The King had fled with my father and Uncle Tae is acting as a king without permission. If Tang forces leave, we won't be safe."

Moonsa then climbed out of Sabi's walls with his subordinates and fled. Many peasants of Sabi followed after him after hearing the news. Xiao Dingfang saw this as an opportunity and sent Tang soldiers to climb up the walls and stick the Tang flag on the top of the walls. Buyeo Tae opened the door of the city to surrender as soon as this happened. King Uija of Woongjin Fortress also surrendered and poured alcohol for King Muyeol and Xiao Dingfang.

On September, Xiao Dingfang returned to China with King Uija, Crown Prince Hyo, Prince Tae, Prince Yoong, Prince Yeon, Baekje court members, 88 Baekje soldiers, and 12,807 Baekje peasants. Baekje had ended 678 years after King Onjo founded the country.

Uija died soon after he arrived in Tang. His tomb was made right next to Sun Hao's tomb, the grandson of Sun Quan the emperor of Wu of the Romance of Three Kingdoms.

SONS OF KING UIJA.

Buyeo Yoong (615-682)

Yoong was the only son of Uija's first wife. He became a Crown Prince on 644, but he lost his spot to Hyo on 656.

On 664, he returned to Korea with King Muyeol's son Kim Inmoon, Tang General Sun Renshi to destroy the Baekje Revival Movement, which was led by his half-brother Buyeo Poong and King Mu's nephew Bokshin. Yoong was given 7,000 soldiers by Tang emperor and he was appointed as the Governor of Woongjin(basically the entire former Baekje). Baekje Revival Movement was destroyed in Baek River. Yoong then met up with King Moonmu of Shilla to get him to acknowledge that all of Baekje belonged to Tang and that he was the governor. Yoong set up a 7 states and 51 towns system at the new Tang province of Woongjin(Baekje).

However, Shilla didn't give up their rights to Baekje easily. When Tang General Liu Ren Yuan returned to China, Yoong quickly followed after him since he feared the anger of Baekje people and the pressure from Shilla. Shilla then established a new province of Soburi at Baekje's capital Sabi and kicked out the Tang forces. The Tang province of Woongjin was moved to Jian An of Manchuria. Yoong ruled the Baekje peasants that were taken to China with him there until he died in 682. His grandson Kyung took over his role as the governor after his death.

Buyeo Tae

Buyeo Tae was the 2nd son of Uija and the 1st son of Uija's 2nd wife. He died in Tang capital of Luoyang.

Buyeo Poong

Uija's 3rd son and 2nd son of Uija's 2nd wife. On 631, Poong went to Japan as a hostage. When King Mu's nephew Bokshin started the Baekje Revival Movement, he called the Japanese for help. The Japanese gave Poong 170 ships and 10,000 troops to help Bokshin. Bokshin enthroned Poong as the new King of Baekje and fought against the Tang-Shilla alliance.

However, Bokshin's relationship with other leader of the movement Monk Dochim got really bad, which eventually led Bokshin to kill Dochim. He even tried to kill Poong, but Poong got the upper hand and killed Bokshin first.

On September of 663, Poong lost to Shilla-Tang alliance in Baek River and fled to Goguryeo. He remained in contact with his younger brother Yong over there to start another revival movement, but he could not succeed.

Buyeo Hyo

Uija's 4th son and 3rd son of Uija's 2nd wife. He replaced Yoong as the Crown Prince. He died in Tang Capital Luoyang.

Buyeo Yeon

Uija's 5th son and 4th son of Uija's 2nd wife. He died in Tang Capital Luoyang.

Buyeo Yong

Uija's 6th son and 5th son of Uija's 2nd wife. He fought under his brother Poong during the Baekje Revival Movement. He fled to Japan after the loss unlike Poong who fled to Goguryeo. He remained in contact with his older brother Poong over there to start another revival movement, but he could not succeed due to the pressure from Chinese diplomats in Japan. Yong spent the rest of his life in Japan.

Buyeo Goong

Goong was an illegimate son of Uija. On July of 660, Goong went to the Tang encampment and served them food to convince them to leave. When Tang refused to do so, he returned with 6 ministers to ask Tang for forgiveness. Tang refused again.

Buyeo Choong Seung

Choong Seung was an illegitimate son of Uija. He and his brother Buyeo Choong Ji guarded the Churyu Fortress under Poong&Yong's Baekje Revival Movement. He surrendered to Shilla-Tang alliance after BRM's defeat at Baek River.

* Uija also had 41 illegitimate sons.

When does the Queen get assassinated, because I really can't stand her evil power hungriness. She's willing to kill just about anyone, including family members, that she see's as a threat who could possibly take the throne away from her. Also, I'm glad her daughter didn't turn out to be such a despicable person like her.

Why is she the way she is anyway?

her daughter isn't, she is raised by Bihyung and she doesnt seem like growing up to be evil , her face is cute and nice. Her name is Yeonhwa whose Munmu's first love (Chunchu's son.)

@Ao: She will receive penalties soon , but assassination case is hardly happened, the punishment for her is normally being purged (death pernalty) or put behind bars...or etc.

BAEKJE'S SIGNS OF DEMISE (MOST LIKELY MADE UP BY SHILLAN'S HISTORIANS)

February, 659 - Number of foxes came inside the palace. A white fox sat on the desk of the Prime Minister.

April, 659 - A hen and a sparrow mated in front of the Crown Prince's room.

May, 659 - A giant fish was found dead at the southwest of Sabi River.

August, 659 - A corpse of giant woman was found on the river.

September, 659 - A locust tree in the palace cried like a human. At night, the cries of ghosts were heard on the south of the palace.

February, 660 - The water of Sabi's well turned into the color of blood. Millions of dead fishes rose up from the surface of West Sea(Yellow Sea). The water of Sabi River turned into the color of blood.

April, 660 - Thousands of toads gathered on top of the trees. The peasants of Sabi ran as if someone was chasing after them. 100s of peasants died while running and countless numbers of people lost their properties.

May, 660 - Storm came. Thunder struck the top of the pagodas of Chun Wang Temple and Do Yang Temple and the main hall of Baek Seok Temple. Dark Clouds looked as if two dragons were fighting each other.

June, 660 - The monks of Wang Heung Temple saw something that looks like a mast of a ship coming inside the temple with large amount of water. A dog that looks like a wild deer barked towards the palace from the hills of West Sabi. Every dogs of Sabi gathered togeter to bark and cry, then scattered afterwards.

A ghost came inside the palace and shouted "Baekje will fall! Baekje will fall!", then it went inside the ground. King Uija found this strange and ordered his subjects to dig the ground. A turtle that had "Baekje is like a full moon and Shilla is like a crescent moon" written on its back came out of the ground.

When Uija asked a shaman about the meaning, the shaman answered "Full moon is full, and full means declining. Crescent moon is empty, and empty eventually gets filled."

Uija was so upset about the comment that he killed the shaman. One man then said "Full moon means strong and crescent moon means weak. I think it means that our country will become stronger while Shilla will get weaker." Uija was very happy about this comment.

@Ao: yes , not only that but all the crimes she has commited. But the one im worrying about is as if the writer let her become king (later queen Jindeok) so she can't be written out. Otherwise, I'm not sure because there's no anouncement about the new person who takes that role yet.

she's hot -headed. And the reason of her power hungriness was the huge contradict between her and Chunchu's (Choi Su Jong) side when they were young , and also being affected by the dowager queen whom she spent her childhood with.
