Don't you think there are too many crying scenes in Tazza? :phew: I never imagined the action drama has that many crying scenes. Hope no more. Nevertheless, he looks so pure in there. ;)

Actually, it doesn't bother me at all because I am totally in awe of JH in these and ALL his scenes. triste_18.gif His control is so amazing... I enjoy watching him so much!! :wub:Cool_cool31.gif

I am crazy about this angle of his profile.

LOL, he could be in danger if you ever encounter him in the street and see his profile! sLo_LoveCrazed.gif He might have to run away! ;)

cholo, thanks for showing us the article. I like that it mentions JH specifically! I also love the fact that the ratings are nearly caught up to EOE! Yessssss! sign0200.gif

'Tazza' Jang Hyuk, "Don't gamble. It will take your fortune away."

20081109092805398.jpg

Playing a role of gambler in Tazza, but "not interested in gambling at all in reality"

By Yonhap News (윤고은 기자)

SBS drama 'Tazza' has recently got another nickname:'bit by bit' It's because its ratings has increased by 1 % or so for each episode for the couple weeks. While its competitor EOE, once likely hit 30% soon, stands still around 25%, Tazza is expected to attract viewers with a full out revenge plot. At the center of Tazza's hike is an earnest actor Jang Hyuk (32).

"Our drama is nicknamed as 'bit by bit', don't you know? We have three more weeks to go, and hope to see the good result." said Jang Hyuk with a high-spirited laughter.

At the beggining, it was unavoidable the drama 'Tazza' was compared with with its same-titled movie which hit 6 million box office tickets. Although the drama's early popularity was a bit indebted to the movie's fame, the drama had to go through criticisms soon. Particularly, as there are restrictions on expression on TV dramas, Tazza was crticized in many ways in representing the gambling world: for example, 'too sensational', 'too many fighting scenes for a gambling drama,' etc.

20081109092805406.jpg

About this controversy, Jang Hyuk said, "our drama is not intended to teach gambling skills. It is more intended to tell, in an analogy to gambling, how people live."

"The key message of the drama is of course, 'don't gamble. it will take your fortune away.' The main character Goni was once a good boy who lived an ordinary life. Then, somehow thigns got twisted around him, and he became engaged in the gambling world. Not because he wanted gambling itself. In projecting his unplanned life path, the drama shows the scenes where he gambles seriously. But that representation is not intended to promote gambling, but rather an inevitable process to form the message of 'gambling produces all evil', I think."

He expressed some difficulties in filimg those scenes.

"Because real smoking is not allowed on TV programs, we have to go with the gambling scenes without smoking, which makes us feel a bit odd in filming those scenes. Lines also should be refined. In reality the tricks in gambling should not be unveiled. But to make viewers understand the situations, the drama should add explanatory scenes which in return could make those scenes look odd sometimes."

20081109092805405.jpg

While Goni is a gifted gambler, Jang Hyuk is way away from gambling.

"I did not know each hwatoo card means a number before this drama. I learned some about GoStop game and played it a couple times before, but I did not know more detailed rules. I wasn't actually interested in it. When I played Black Jack in Las Vegas long ago, I couldn't play longer than 30 minutes. There are much more fun things to me than gambling."

He met some real tazzas in preparation of filming of Tazza. "After I met them, I thought myself the gambling world should be the last place to go. It is the world where one is doomed to give up everything s/he has," said Jang Hyuk, shaking his head admantly.

Unlike the same-titled movie, Goni in the drama version was falsely convicted of murder due to Agui's trick, and was sent to prison. Goni swearing revenge in prison, met the other legendary tazza JjackGui (Jo Sang Gu), consummating his own skills.

"As for the prison scenes, to be frank, It wasn't that pleasant even if it is just acting. I thought (again) the prison should be the last place to go.(Laugh) I tried to have indirect experiences about prison life by reviewing the works like 'Prison Break.' Now that Goni got out of prison, his revenge project may pull its gear up, right?"

For the past three months, he has to take a short sleep, intermittently at the waiting room next to the filming set. "I am okay with that so far. My body seems used to that irrugular and short sleep. But it is true all of us endure this with great patience. I hope the drama is well wrapped up, and later when I rewatch the drama I can say 'oh, it's good', said Jang Hyuk.

wils! I really enjoyed reading the interview! Thanks a million for translating it for us!! :) Great job! I could just picture him answering those questions! I'm so pleased that the popularity of the drama is increasing...but our poor JH needs a rest! I hope he will get a break by the end of the year! I'm sure he is missing a lot of time with his family, especially his little son... sad0137.gif

I hope the drama is well wrapped up, and later when I rewatch the drama I can say 'oh, it's good.'
heartbeat.gif Aww, this is cute...he should know how good we already KNOW it it is!

PS, the new signature looks nice! ;) I think you are fond of black and white...

One will really learn a lot from watching this drama. I'll probably finish watching this when it ends so I can watch this in marathon. :)

It's nice to know that they will add additional episode to this. Congrats to the success of this show. Hope ratings keep getting up until the end.

Super thanks cholo for the wonderful caps!!!!! I am sure his pictures help you get relaxed. ;)

BTW, I LOVE him in that sunglasses! Gorgeous!!!!!!! *drools* (Actually I am wondering where I can buy that sunglasses..)

And thanks for the gifs. He is so cute in there! B)

Here are collections of his faces from the Tazza DC gall.

He is just adorable, particularly with that typical gruff demeanor, beneath which we know he has a sweet heart. Like Giseo's in Thank You.

There are a bunch of news articles about him these days.

I translated one of them.

Tazza Jang Hyuk-Lee Jae Yong, teacher-student relation 14 years ago

Newsen | 2008.11.12 08:20

One of the hot news is that Jang Hyuk playing 'Goni' and Lee Jae Yong playing 'Stanley Whang, a casino king' in Tazza are known to have a special history. Jang Hyuk, then a high school senior, met him as a student 14 years ago. Back in 1994, Jang Hyuk, wanting to learn acting skills, went to Lee Jae Yong, who was well known as an acting instructor in Busan. Lee Jae Yong has lived in Busan since then. Through Tazza, they came to see each other for the first time after 14 years passed. In recalling Jang Hyuk of 14 years ago, Lee Jae Yong said, he thought Jang Hyuk would be a big figure in the future because he had strong enthusiasms for acting and a powerful force aura although he was young then.

20081112082015.649.0.jpg

On the 9th, when filming the episode to be broadcast on the 11th, they shared joy of reunion. In filming the scene where Stanley Hwang gives Goni 5 billion won as a prize, Jang Hyuk showed a humor that "I am grateful to him for his advice and support through the early days and for giving me this huge amount of money again. So I return half of 5 billion won to him as my thank you gift to him."

In response, Lee Jang Yong was said to be proud of Jang Hyuk's success as he added he still remembered how hardworking he was in doing vocal/speaking exercises with his mouth biting a towel. Jang Hyuk said, he feels as if he's back to the days of 14 years ago.
