South Korea’s Megabox Plus M has sold The Point Men, director Yim Soon-rye’s anticipated Korean hostage crisis drama, to 14 territories including Japan (Gaga) and Taiwan (MovieCloud).

The latest feature from Yim, who directed 2014 local hit Whistle Blower, stars Hwang Jung-min (The Spy Gone North) and Hyun Bin (Late Autumn) in the true story of a Korean diplomat who is dispatched to Afghanistan when a group of South Korean tourists is taken hostage by the Taliban. When all other measures fail and one hostage is killed, he is forced to team up with a special agent (Hyun) to try and rescue the survivors.

The film, which is in post-production, has also sold to Hong Kong and Macau (Edko Films), Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Vietnam (Encore Films), Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar (Sahamongkol Film), Philippines (Viva Networks), and Mongolia (The Filmbridge).

Investor-distributor Megabox Plus M, which launched its international sales arm in October, is lining up The Point Men as a 2021 tentpole release in Korea.

The company says it has also been fielding inquiries from Chinese buyers following encouraging recent signals that a thaw in China’s unofficial freeze on Korean cultural products could be coming soon.

*** This came from KingChoice, which is a popular polling website where fans of K-Pop can participate in various polls put up on a semi-regular basis on topics such as idols, ships, songs, and other categories. These polls often draw in hundreds of thousands of votes total, so the results come from a pretty large pool of participants! While of course the resulting list will always be subjective, it’s still interesting to see who ends up on the top of the chart and whether or not your favorite artist ended up where you think they should.  :kisslevel:

*** "Secret Garden" is still one of my all-time favorites. :Twerkdatbutt:

8 Soul Swap K-Dramas To Snare Your Soul

There’s something inherently comedic about soul swap dramas because, well, can you imagine suddenly being in someone else’s body? Or having to share yours? And what if you land in the body of the opposite gender? Or in a different time period even? It’s the perfect ingredient for rom-com shenanigans, and we aren’t going to be shy about our love for this particular trope.

So here we have eight K-dramas — that are quite evenly spread out across the last decade — that include all kinds of soul-swapping goodness that’ll easily capture your interest and soul!

Secret Garden” (2010)

Secret-Garden-540x405.jpg

We couldn’t possibly talk about soul swap dramas without mentioning “Secret Garden,” arguably the most well-known of the genre. Everyone and their mothers are familiar with this whimsical and humorous story between a spunky stunt woman (Ha Ji Won) and a claustrophobic chaebol (Hyun Bin), who just so happen to share insane chemistry. And really, it’s a tale that needs no further introduction, but here are some buzzwords to help jumpstart your memory: Soul swap. Sequined tracksuit. Sit-ups.

Foam kiss. The end.

Pre-sales of the movie 'Negotiation'...Binsama Power!

0000894356_001_20210304065813041.jpg?type=w430

Top star Hyun Bin is targeting the Japanese market again.

Hyun Bin, who reignited the Korean Wave in Japan last year with the main drama "Crash Landing on You," will meet local audiences with a new movie this time. He clearly proves his name value and plays a role as a new force in Korean films targeting the overseas stage amid the global pandemic of infectious diseases.

The movie "Negotiation," starring Hyun Bin and Hwang Jung-min, was recently pre-sold to Japan. It is part of the pre-sale of distribution rights to 14 Asian countries including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. However, Japan gives special meaning to Hyun Bin. This is because the main drama "Crash Landing on Love," which was released in Japan through Netflix in February last year, has gained huge popularity, ranking first in the most viewed content every year. In other regions such as Hong Kong and Singapore, "Crash Landing on You" remained at the top of the list, including the top of the content that has been viewed a lot. Pre-sale of negotiations in Japan seems to have relied on such power. Shin Beom-soo, CEO of Watermelon, a film company that produces "The Negotiation," said on the 3rd, "The drama "Crash Landing on You" has caused a very hot sensation in Asia, including Japan. It is not too wrong to see the pre-sale of distribution rights as an extension." CEO Shin said, "We cannot reveal the exact amount of sales, but we received the amount that matches the actor's reputation and the size of the movie."

It is also noteworthy that Korean films have become more powerful in the midst of the global pandemic of novel coronavirus infections (Corona 19). Except for "Parasite" last year, Korean films have not been very noticeable in recent years, so the film industry seems to expect a new screen Korean Wave to ignite, starting with "negotiation" led by Hallyu star Hyun Bin.

It is heard that Hyun Bin's weight has drawn attention from China amid regulations on the Korean Peninsula. CEO Shin Bum-soo said, "I know there are favorable views from Chinese buyers on movies and Hyun Bin." Although "Crash Landing on You" was not officially aired there, it is analyzed that interest in the drama, including the Asian region, may have led to the local area.

"Negotiation" is a work that director Lim Soon-rye joined hands with Hyun Bin and Hwang Jung-min. It depicts the story of a diplomat and an NIS agent trying to rescue a South Korean hostage kidnapped in the Middle East. It is currently working on the second half of the movie, which is scheduled to be released this year.

*** Comedienne Hong Hyun-hee shared how popular Hyun Bin was back when he was in school. She shared this during an episode of MBC's television show 'Hangout with Yoo'.  She revealed that she attended a high school next to Hyun Bin's  school. Hong Hyun-hee said that there was a time when Hyun Bin's school held an annual school festival, he happened to run a pop-up tea place with his drama club mates there. She said that you had to buy a ticket to buy tea from the tea place. And she  lined up for the ticket, but couldn't buy it in the end since the line was too long. She shared seeing Hyun Bin around a lot during her high school days. She said that he was very handsome even before. He was so popular even before his debut. In front of a sticker photo machine, lots of girls would lining up to see him as well as to take sticker photos with him.  :emmm:

*** A video of Hyun Bin promoting Under Armour's SS21 collection was recently released and while many of us can get too engrossed staring at his dastardly good looks and well-defined biceps, let's not ignore his nice soundbites, too. In the interview interspersed between shots of him lifting weights, doing push-ups and such, he talked about what he tells himself when he feels like giving up. He repeats his mantra, "this too shall pass."  :1646639759_ezgif.com-gif-maker(1):

24 K-Dramas That Are Made Even Better By Their Fantastic Soundtracks

There's a whole lot to love about K-dramas.

From their twisting plotlines to their poignant romance arcs, it's no wonder that once you watch one K-drama, you'll quickly find yourself wanting to watch another (and another, and another, and another)!

But you know what makes a K-drama stand apart from the rest? An incredible soundtrack.

K-drama soundtracks are seriously underrated. Not only are they ridiculously catchy and a great way to find new artists to listen to, but they can also provide a glimpse into a character's mindset or complement the show's current storyline. Add in performances by phenomenally talented artists like Exo's Chen, BTS's V, or IU, and K-drama soundtracks definitely deserve more recognition.

So without further ado, here are 24 K-dramas that are made even better by their fantastic soundtracks.

19. Secret Garden (2010–2011)

As one of the most popular and significant dramas of all time, Secret Garden is a show that needs no introduction.

However, part of what makes the show's whirlwind romance between stuntwoman Gil Ra-im (Ha Ji-won) and CEO Kim Joo-won (Hyun Bin) so great is the show's impeccable soundtrack, featuring performances by Baek Z Young and Kim Bum-soo. Listening to these songs will bring back waves of nostalgia and pull on your heartstrings even over a decade later.

Recommended songs: "That Woman" by Baek Z Young, "Appear" by Kim Bum-soo, "That Man" by Hyun Bin, "You Are My Spring" by Sung Si-kyung, and "Here I Am" by Shin Yong-jae.

Spoiler

21. Crash Landing on You (2019–2020)

With artists like Yerin Baek, Yoon Mi-rae, and Crush on the album, you know that the soundtrack to Crash Landing on You is going to be both jaw-droppingly gorgeous and heartbreaking. True to form, it is all of the above and more. This is a soundtrack that will hit you straight in the feelings with no remorse, so make sure you're ready before you press play!

Recommended songs: "Here I Am Again" by Yerin Baek, "Flower" by Yoon Mi-rae, "But It's Destiny" by 10cm, "Let Us Go" by Crush, and "All of My Days" by Sejeong.
