PS: took me awhile to translate cos its quite long O_O

During the interview and photoshoot session, it seemed as if Onew was constantly observing the environment. If there were any shortages or problems, he would not hesitate to help. In comparison with magnae Taemin’s flower-like smile or sculpture like handsome boy Minho, Onew’s trademark “Ahahaha” laughter is never inferior. This is SHINee's leader Onew, his leading style.

"Instead of lecturing members and telling them to do this and that, I'm just in charge of listening (to them) since everyone is doing their part very well already. Understand them and walk my own path. (laugh)"

Approaching the 4th year of SHINee since debut, many things have changed along the route but amongst them all, personal change is still the most important.

"Through activities with SHINee, my personality has changed a lot. Became more out-going? Compared to before, I've become closer with everyone. First of all, being recognized by a lot of people makes me feel good."

Whilst SHINee establishes themselves as a talented group in the industry, the market is still expanding with lots of new groups debuting. Without realizing, you've become a 'sunbae' (senior) looking over these kids already, how do you feel?

"Currently I'm MC-ing for a program, I feel like the new groups are becoming younger and younger. Thinking back, we were like them too. Recently they all seem to be quite good."

In addition to MC-ing, Onew has challenged himself in Musicals, and has received a lot of positive feedback and praises. However, it seems like SHINee will be promoting overseas, the question is do you feel stressed or afraid with the upcoming Japan activities?

"We've had a lot of performances in Japan before. Indeed, it will be great if we could bring more happiness (laughters) to our fans and communicate with everyone."

As a guest on "Happy Together", Onew sat next to the MC's instead of the guest seats due to his outstanding variety skills which is widely recognized. Does this mean your variety sense will work in Japan too?

"Actually, I'm not sure if it is going to work. The more you put in, the higher chance it is to get more out? haha. (T/N: korean saying) Want to prepare a unique self-introduction. For example, "I-am-Onew-who-is-not-scared-of-scary-movies" something like this? (really?) might be scared inside but others will not know because there is no reaction.

Forgetting immediately when he feels frustrated, sleeping when he feels moody, singing songs he likes when he feels happy. Comparing with others, Onew is not much different...a realistic life and doesn't really mind how people sees him.

"Comparing to what people say, I am just being my natural self. I have always been this kind of person"

We totally did not expect this early 20th generation boy is a 23 year old idol who has a greed to become a celebrity. His calm and natural mentality brings us many hidden surprises.

though he's acting like a kid most of the time, dubu is really mature as a person.It always showed when they doing this kind of interview

and i really appreciate and respect how he handle his group...

yes he's not a bossy, demanding  type of a leader but this style works in SHINee.

and personally i can't picture him lecturing his member,pushing them around and tell them what to do...i just can't!

that's against his nature and just like he said his member had a mind of their own and knows what they are doing

having a smart, creative and almost good at everything members had some advantage i guess...

it lessens dubu's job as a leader keke we don't want him to over-work himself right?!

SHINee Interview Elle Girl Korea June 2011 – (1)

About a year ago, Elle Girl Japan asked for related materials and our opinions in their preparation for an article on K-pop. One of the questions was which boy group’s debut in Japan is most expected, and Elle Girl Korea’s answer was SHINee.

The five slim boys’ slogan, “(we are) a contemporary band,” was elusive in the beginning, but now the public understands what it means intuitively. In their pursuit of what is new and best in everything from music and performance to fashion, SHINee was born to be global.

The joint interview both magazines have planned on for months was made in a studio in Shinsa-dong on an April afternoon. An Elle Girl Japan editor came over to Seoul to meet with SHINee whose debut in Japan had been scheduled, and set the place for the meeting with the five members with Elle Girl Korea.

There was a bit of tension as people communicated in Japanese, English and Korean in the studio, but when SHINee came in, the atmosphere became livelier. The members looked in a good condition, maybe because they were resting well during a break. They showed no hint of exhaustion or nervousness while greeting the staff and talking about the photoshoot.

During their interview with Elle Girl Japan, they showed off their Japanese and introduced themselves excitedly as if they were back to their debut days. In the following photoshoot, they left behind their usual attitude as ‘chic fashionistas’ and acted free like backstage ‘rock boys.’ The five members laughed, played with each other, and made expressions unseen before. Whether it was because they liked the photoshoot together for a magazine pictorial they didn’t have for a long time, or because they were excited about their debut in Japan, they were full of restless and positive energy.

After the photoshoot was finished, I asked Yukiko, the Elle Girl Japan editor, how she felt about SHINee. “I watched SHINee’s performances through Youtube and had an impression they are very stylish. On today’s meeting, the different personalities of the five members seemed to have synergy. They are cute, professional, and awesome.”

SHInee will start their promotions as their Japanese debut single Replay is released on 22 June. The Japanese version of “Noona Is So Pretty” must melt Japanese noonas’s hearts. I feel sorry about having fewer chances to see them in Korea, but look forward to seeing their shining performances on new stages. I hope they will enjoy it truly most of all, like they did today!

Who is SHINee’s “angel”?

I’ve been to Korea to interview SHINee who will debut with『Replay -君は僕のeverything-』on 22 June!

When I greeted them “Nice to meet you!”, they all greeted me back in Japanese in a spirited way.

The five of them were like bosom friends during the photoshoot !

They said “Cute”, “Cool~” to each other loudly in Japanese!

The youngest member Taemin was called “Angel” and adored for everything by all the members who said “He’s a real angel.”

As for Minho-goon, Key-goon said, “He’s calm but sometimes goofy.”

Key-goon’s Japanese is really good! He seemed to have studied with Japanese dramas and variety shows. His favorite gag man is Harisenbon!

Jonghyun-goon is a member who knows where to finish during the interview.

It was impressive he got shy when asked to make the most playful face for solo photos~

Onew-goon guided them gently but bounced high-spirited for his solo photos!

Anyway all the members were lively, and the photoshoot and interview was finished in an instant!

SHINee interview will be published in a series of 5 parts from the 6/3 issue.

hey everyone! it's been a looooooooong time since i've posted here, and i don't really have anything to share ^^; but i see a lot of new people on this thread and that's totally awesome!! I'm manu just in case anyone's interested lol.

i'm done exams and way hyped up for shinee's japan debut! i'm loving whatever i've heard of the japanese version of replay so far. i'm really glad they decided to mix up the arrangement a little, so that it's different from the original. i was a little hesitant about them making replay as their debut single, but now i'm totally up for it! it's like their debut all over again, and i'm really excited about it. I can't wait for the elle girl interviews, it seems to be long, but it'll probably be a lot of fun to read
