Storyline/Synopsis

A comical family drama about the love and success of a woman who runs a rice cake shop after graduating high school and her husband, a college professor.

This drama also tells the story of four couples that live under the same roof getting married.

Jung-im closes down the shop early in preparation for her father-in-law’s 60th birthday. Yet, his sons and daughters are nowhere to be found, and so as her husband Tae-ho. At this hour Tae-ho is with his co-worker Suh-young, whispering loves under the curtain. Nowadays, Tae-ho has no arousal around his wife, and sees no sparks in their conversations. Suh-young, on the other hand, is a light to his dull life. As secrets can never stay sealed forever, during his sleep Tae-ho unconsciously blurts out his love towards Suh-young. After such bitter incident, Jung-im is dragged to I-dol concerts by her friend Aeh-ran, and unexpectedly ends up in a fight. Soon, the press releases news about her under the title by, “the revolting vigilant fan in her thirties!” Then Jung-im’s life falls apart, as Tae-ho divorces her. Yet what she had not realized is that her life could also turn towards “good” when given just the right chance. As entertainment agency’s head Hyun-wook decides to turn Jung-im into a successful Cinderella, her life changes! Then one day, as Tae-ho turns on his radio he hears a voice, a familiar one… yes, it was his ex-wife Jung-im’s. What would happen next? [credits: wiki-d]

It is a pity that they had changed the lead actress from Yoon Jung Hee to Kim Ji Young.

However, I feel the lively KJY will portray this role much better , being a more experienced actress with several supporting movie awards under her belt.

With both Kim Ji Young and Lee Jong Hyuk, I am counting to see matured indepth acting and chemistry.

Hope it will not be draggy and boring " 3 Brothers"

Rating for Ep1 according to AGB Nielsen: 16.7%, it's quite a good start for ep1 and reminds me with the rating for the early ep of My Too Perfect Sons.

Hello everyone =) I'm here to give a little summary/recap of episode 1. It was a very interesting episode, I'm looking forward to the series!

Ep.1 [All translations/summaries are done by me, please do not re-post them elsewhere without giving due credit!]

[summary]

Kim Jong Dae (Baek Il Sub) is Nam Jung Im's (Kim Ji Young)father-in-law. Oh Soon Ok (Go Doo Shim) is Name Jung Im's mother-in-law. Kim Jong Dae still isn't very approving of his daughter-in-law because he feels his son Kim Tae Ho (Lee Jong Hyuk) could do better. Kim Jong Dae is always bragging about his son to his friends to the point where his friends don't want to listen anymore!

KJD: Uh, you know, my son Tae Ho was always called a genius when he was little. He never lost 1st place! Every test he took! 100/100!

Friend: If I hear that one more time, that would make it the 100th time I heard that story.

KJD: Hey, you know how hard it is to be a professor these days right? It's harder than trying to catch a star from the sky! They're firing people with multiple degrees and Ph.D's all the time! My Tae ho doesn't have any of that and all these places want to scout him! It was the craziest thing ever!

Friend: Well how come he just became a professor? Shouldn't he have been one a long time ago?

KJD: I already told you. It's because they felt bad for those people who studied abroad. My Tae ho said he wants to be a big fish in a small pond! He wants to advance at a steady pace. That's how humble my son is!

Friend: okay, okay, okay! Stop it now! Of course, your son is worthy of your praise. But that's all you ever speak about! My son this my son that! That's why everyone else left you!

KJD: They probably left because they're busy! Are YOU the one being jealous?

Friend: ha-ha-ha...

KJD: hehe you're jealous aren't you?! If you are, just say you are!

Friend: yeah yeah yeah I'm jealous! So jealous!

KJD: Ask anyone in Korea if they have a better son than I do! Tell them to raise their hands! Hahah!

Meanwhile, Tae ho is looked down upon from his colleague. He vows to pay them back through his success. But the head professor tells Tae Ho that he nominated him for a TV interview. Turns out that his daughter was the MC/interviewer for that show. His daughter is Seo Young (Lee Tae Im), also Tae ho's school hoobae (junior).

Jung Im has been working at her friend's rice cake store. She smiles all the time because she's ever so happy that her husband is a college professor now! Her hard work has paid off. She had previously done all kinds of odd jobs to support her husband.

Friend: (She's watching Boys over Flowers) Ji-hoo sunbae! (senior) Ji-hoo sunbae! Mwah!....

Jung Im: You must have watched Boys over Flowers at least 100 times. Don't you get tired of it?

Friend: When I think about it, it's fascinating. Almost like magic! Every time I watch it, it's like watching something new!..

Jung Im: Do you like him that much?

Friend: Don't you put your eyes on him!

Jung Im: Tsk tsk.. Alright I'm going in!

Oh Soon Ok (Jung Im's mother-in-law) treats her daughter-in-law very well. It is because she had to put up with her own step-mother-in-law and she knows exactly what that feels like. It is Soon Ok's husband's (Kim Jong Dae) birthday. Jung Im comes over to help out for dinner. Jung Im's brother-in-law Kim Kang Ho (Tae Ho's younger brother) (Sung Hyuk) is smart, but he gets too nervous during his job interviews and ends up not getting the job. He asks Jung Im for allowance and he is the only person to not have a job in the family. This in turn makes him even more nervous at his job interviews. Ever since Tae ho has become a professor, he has been awfully busy. Today was no exception as he shows up extremely late to his own father's birthday dinner. Instead of getting mad at his son, he keeps telling Jung Im to become a better, suitable person for her professor husband. Jung Im and Tae ho do not have kids due to their financial circumstances and the two decided to have kids much later on, when their lives are more stable.

Jung Im: Happy birthday, father!!!

Jong Dae: Are you teasing me? You just wished me a happy birthday!

Jung Im: .. oh right..

Jong Dae: And when are you having kids?

Jung Im: oh me? Oh umm.. uh

Soon Ok: Aw, you're rushing them! they can start having kids now..

Jong Dae: Have one fast as fast as possible!

Jung Im: yessir...

Jong Dae: Have you been to the hospital?

Soon Ok: Why would she do that? It's not like she can't have kids! Its only been a few days since the kids can finally really breathe! They can start trying now.

Jong Dae: Anyway, women these days are so weak. Women used to have kids and had to work at the same time. Some women make their husbands take care of their kid! How weak must a woman be to do that?! They postpone having kids because their financial situations aren't good! What a twist to our country!

Jung Im's sister-in-law Yun Ho (Tae ho's sister) (Oh Yoon Ah) is quite the character. She and Jung Im were friends before Jung Im married her brother but she gets a little feisty. She doesn't mean to be obnoxious but she comes off that way. That is also how Han Kyung Hoon (Han Sang Jin) met Yun ho. Kyung Hoon is a water delivery man and Yuh ho rudely asked for him to refill the water tank. She also asked him for a cup of water (again, rudely) and when things didn't go her way, she insisted on calling his company to fire him! But lately she has been on an arranged date with a lawyer, and even though he's not exactly her type, because of his social status, she acts like the sweet and calm lamb that she isn't.

Jung Im gets invited to a dinner with her husband with all the university staff. Jung Im realizes that her husband is embarrassed of her when he makes up stories such as him preventing her from doing other works but working with some thing easy like rice cakes. He also says that she is a professional rice cake maker. On the way home, Tae ho's car engine causes trouble and even though it's pouring out, he makes Jung Im push his car. Her shoe heel breaks in the process and she sees her selfish husband yelling at her even in the car to push harder and she gets awfully disappointed...
