During one of her interviews, Son Ye-jin said, "I'm honestly not confident to become a mom, so I have no thoughts on getting married at the moment."  She added, "I may take marriage into consideration if I meet a good person who makes me feel certain about marriage."

 

When she made a guest appearance on SBS POWER FM's radio show 'Cultwo Show', Son Ye-jin was asked about her ideal type.  To this, Son Ye-jin said, "I don't really look at one's appearance for my boyfriend. I tend to gravitate towards someone who has a charming personality. I don't really fall in love at first sight."

First, Lee Jin-ho looked back on the past romance rumors between Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin. Lee Jin-ho mentioned the story of a witness about the couple’s date in the United States in January 2019. Lee Jin-ho said that if the male and female protagonists here, who worked with each other in the movie “Negotiation,” coincidentally went to the U.S. at the same time with different schedules, coincidentally met each other in LA, and coincidentally appear together at the mart and be filmed, they are definitely a match made in heaven with that much coincidence. “If you look at what Hyun Bin bought, it was never the proportions that could be eaten by several people, including a bottle of wine and two beverage packs. Son Ye-jin revealed why she chose 'Thirty, Nine'. 

At the online production presentation of JTBC's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Thirty, Nine' (played by Yoo Young-ah/directed by Kim Sang-ho/produced by JTBC Studio, Lotte Cultureworks) held on the 16th, "I read the script really quickly, and if I'm not my age, I can't do this kind of work anymore. Thirty-Nine revolves around the romance and everyday lives of three women who are on the verge of turning 40.

Son Ye Jin is making her comeback two years after Crash Landing on You as dermatologist Cha Mi Jo. “If I don’t do it now, my conscience won’t allow me to appear in projects like Thirty-Nine. It was a perfect story about women and love that I could relate to at my age,” she shared. Her partner in the play is Yeon Woo Jin, who plays romantic dermatologist Kim Sun Woo.

Jeon Mi Do turns into Jung Chan Young, who was only given a few months to live. “The character is totally different from the role I played before (Hospital Playlist),” she said. “I didn’t try to act differently but rather focus on Chan Young exactly as she’s written.” The World of the Married actor Lee Mu Saeng will star opposite her.

Lastly, Kim Ji Hyun plays Jang Joo Hee, who has never dated a man before. She forms a romantic relationship with younger chef Park Hyun Joon, played by Lee Tae Hwan. Kim Ji Hyun explained, “It’s like we permeate into each other’s lives. Jang Joo Hee has never dated a man before, and Hyun Joon is younger than her, so their love has a mild taste without any seasoning.”

These three women will fill the screen with their chemistry. Son Ye Jin stressed that they hit it off right away. “We didn’t do anything special to get to know each other. We just kind of melted into each other’s lives. Later, we became so close that we started chatting as soon as we met,” she added.

On February 16, the star attended a press conference for JTBC’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama, Thirty, Nine. The event marked the actress’ first public appearance since her marriage announcement to Hyun Bin. Therefore, many reporters asked her to share her thoughts on the recently announced engagement.

To start off, reporter Park Seul Gi congratulated her on the recent news. In response, Son Ye Jin asked how the reporter feels about her own married life. The emcee dished on how happy she is to have her own family, and the star went on about how she keenly looks forward to having a happy marriage like hers.

The Crash Landing on You star then said, “I feel that I am facing important events at the beginning of 2022, both as an actress and as a person, and so it almost feels like destiny.” She added, “I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to those who wished me a happy marriage.”

Meanwhile, both Hyunbin and Son Ye Jin’s agency have announced that “The two are planning to hold a private wedding in March in Seoul” and that it “will be held privately with their parents and a few acquaintances, following the wishes of the two.”

SEOUL, Feb. 16 (Yonhap) -- Star actress Son Ye-jin, who is set to tie the knot with actor Hyun Bin next month, will return to the small screen with the JTBC romance drama "Thirty-Nine."



The 12-part series is her first TV project after "Crash Landing On You," tvN's 2019-20 hit rom-com series.



Last week, the two co-stars of the drama announced they will get married next month, about two years after they started dating.



"As an individual and as an actor, so many big events have happened to me in 2022. It's like destiny," she said in an online press conference on the upcoming show Wednesday. "I'm so grateful that so many people have congratulated me."



"Thirty-Nine" is a story of three female friends, who are all 39 years old, featuring their friendship, work and romantic relationships as they are on the brink of turning 40.



Mi-jo (Son) is a 39-year-old dermatologist who has her own clinic in Seoul and makes a big decision to take a year off and enjoy life for the first time in decades.



Her daily life is always with her best friends Chan-young (Jeon Mi-do), an acting teacher who gave up her dream to become an actress, and Joo-hee (Kim Ji-hyun), a timid and naive person working as a manager at a department store.



Son said she loved the narrative of "Thirty-Nine" so much that she wanted to play Mi-jo when she was a 39-year-old.



"I thought if I got older, I couldn't take part in such a good story like 'Thirty-Nine,'" said the actress, who turned 40 last month. "And Mi-do is just like me. I thought the screenwriter might have installed a camera at my house and created this character."



She also said she now has two new friends of the same age through "Thirty-Nine," and the trio's on-screen chemistry will highlight the characters' 20-year-old friendship and their efforts to face and accept heartbreaking news.



"We didn't make additional efforts to get closer, but we felt like real friends from the first day of production," she said. "Later on, we permeated into each other and enjoyed chatting every time we met."



Director Kim Sang-ho said "Thirty-Nine" depicts how people juggle work, love and friendship in the face of a turning point in their life.



"Facing 40, people tend to be ambivalent about their life. It seems too late to start a new lifetime project but too early to bring out an achievement," he said. "I tried to depict these feelings through three friends who face a decisive moment of life."



"Thirty-Nine" will premier on JTBC later in the day and also be available for streaming on Netflix. (END)
