[TV Report] Actress Hwang Shin-hye, who looks much younger than her age and is known for her outstanding fashion sense, appeared in a bikini in the September 28 episode of the KBS TV series "The Queen Returns."

Hwang, who is back in a TV series after a five-year break, looks as young and fresh as ever. She appeared wearing the Audrey Hepburn style in the September 22 episode of the drama, and this time she showed off her shapely figure in a zebra-patterned bikini covered with a see-through shirt. Her tanned skin and firm body drew the attention of all the men at the swimming pool. Many male viewers were also reportedly stunned.

Hwang's eye-catching fashion style adds fun to the drama. In the latest episode, she appeared wearing a leather jacket and white pants, which created an equestrian look. Her bold fashion style contrasts sharply with the simple style of Oh Yeon-soo, who plays her rival.

KBS2 drama “The Queen Returns” has been gaining attention with the contrasting fashion styles of the two leading actresses – Hwang Shin-hye and Oh Yeon-soo.

Hwang Shin-hye, playing Jang Gong-shim, a successful ballerina, shows off a bold, flamboyant style that defies her age. She usually wears mini dresses and skirts and loose blouses matched with showy accessories.

The last several episodes showed off what can be considered the epitome of her style, with the September 22 episode featuring her in an Audrey Hepburn look and September 28 in a riding dress.

Meanwhile, Oh Yeon-soo, playing Jang Gong-shim’s old rival Cha Do-gyeong, who is now living a tough life married to an incompetent man, emphasizes simplicity and modesty. She appears in casual clothes at home and in one-piece dresses with no frills when going out, which accentuate the actress’ elegant appearance.

Fashion in dramas is no longer only a means to clothe drama characters but a trendsetter that pulls people’s attention to the dramas. This is why the interest in the two actresses’ fashion styles is expected to serve as a boost for the show.

Although the drama is having hard time gaining popularity, as its rival “The Great Queen Seondeok” on MBC is a huge hit, it is receiving great support from fanatic fans with its comical and tight storyline.

Hwang Shin-hye’s Embarrassing Moment in ‘The Queen Returns’

In the October 5th episode of “The Queen Returns,” Jang Gong-shim, a successful ballerina played by Hwang Shin-hye, suffered an embarrassment, and it was just one of a series of embarrassments she had been having.

She had attempted in vain to entice Kang Chan-woo (Lee Jae-hwang), for whom she secretly has feelings, by wearing a bikini, and another time had had her dress torn in front of him. And the latest embarrassing moment came when she was dating him in a drive-in theater.

Gong-shim suddenly felt the need to go to the ladies' room. She even felt resentful at her bladder for interrupting such an important moment.

Seeing Gong-shim squeezing her legs together tightly and sweat running down her face, Chan-woo asked her if she felt sick. But she did not want to destroy the romantic mood and was determined to endure it, turning white as a sheet.

Finally Gong-shim shouted, “Excuse me! I have to go to the bathroom,” and kicked open the car door and hurried toward a restroom with awkward footsteps. She worried that Chan-woo must have become disappointed in her, but instead he had become more interested in her, thinking that she was as charming as he thought her to be. This incident has raised curiosity about how their relationship will develop.

Meanwhile, singer Song Dae-kwan made a cameo appearance in the episode.

Oh Yeon-soo Plays 'Love Advisor'

[2009-10-07]

[TV Report] In the TV drama "The Queen Returns," Do-kyung (Oh Yeon-soo), a rival of Kong-shim (Hwang Shin-hye), has taken on the role of a "love advisor." In the October 5 episode, Do-kyung gave special relationship advice to Kong-shim.

Kong-shim's love interest--Chan-woo (Lee Jae-hwang)--is Do-kyung's ex-boyfriend. Even after more than ten years, he still has special feelings for Do-kyung. Pressured by Chan-woo's feelings, or perhaps just because she is exhausted by life, Do-kyung keeps her heart closed. Moreover, she lends a helping hand to Kong-shim to repay her for admitting her son Seon-nam (Oh Seung-yoon) into her ballet academy. Do-kyung shared her tips with Kong-shim on how to captivate Chan-woo's heart and embarked on helping their relationship.

She suggested that Kong-shim apply pink lipstick when going out with Chan-woo. When Kong-shim said that pink was childish, Do-kyung replied, "Men like innocent things." Kong-shim ended up taking Do-kyung's advice. Following that scene, Do-kyung is shown thinking to herself, “Kong-shim is too old for pink lipstick. But what can she do? That's Chan-woo's favorite color.” At Kong-shim's request, Do-kyung also booked a special French restaurant for the two. It was a live music cafe, an ideal venue for a date. It is also where Chan-woo and Do-kyung had created special memories as a couple.

Do-kyung's advice turned out to be effective, on the surface. Chan-woo said he liked the cafe and even praised Kong-shim. The whole date seemed perfect, but for Kong-shim it was actually a disaster. The cafe only helped Chan-woo reconfirm his feelings for Do-kyung. The scene set the stage for a love triangle.

The episode also featured trot singer Song Dae-kwan, who played a cafe employee.
