WONDERGIRLS has experienced a surge in popularity in China this past year. After their evening rehearsal was over, the quintet did not have time to put on makeup before appearing in front of the national media. They promptly displayed their Chinese-language skills by greeting in unison: "Hello everybody, we are WONDERGIRLS!" It is their 1st time seeing in the new year in China, & the girls are obviously very excited. They will perform their breakout hit 'Nobody' on December 31 evening. On learning that China has many fans who love the song, WONDERGIRLS immediately expressed their gratitude & happily announced that they will have a new song for everyone next year. They are currently preparing their new album, which may also be released in China. Last night at 10pm, there were unexpected developments at the Jiangsu press conference for international artistes of the TV New Year's Eve concert in Nanjing. Latina pop diva Shakira kept reporters waiting for over an hour, then made known she was going for rehearsals & skipping the media meeting. Then came sudden rumors that Susan Boyle may not come to China!

While waiting for Shakira, the 'smallest' brand name of the 3 international artistes WONDERGIRLS arrived for the press conference in a haste. Their interview only lasted 10 minutes. WONDERGIRLS knows their signature song 'Nobody' is very popular in China. Through their interpreter, they expressed hopes of performing in more major cities here. Their next album will also be released in China.

The sequence is as follows: 2DT, audience banter, Tell Me, chat with emcees, teaching the 'Nobody' dance (many in the audience spontaneously got up -- China WFs FTW!), Nobody, chat with emcees again, some sort of interactive lucky draw (all the performers do it).

They look very good & svelte. The cameraman noticeably could not decide who to focus on during Tell Me!

Compliments to WG's tailor & hairdresser. For once, everything was perfect!

Ditto makeup artist (WG wore very understated makeup compared to the earlier artistes, yet look very telegenic.)

Got up bright & early to survey the NYE reports in China cyberspace.

WONDERGIRLS teaches their dance, triggering a mimicry mania

Korean girlgroup WONDERGIRLS were dressed in smoking hot style. They began with the Chinese version of '2 Different Years', followed by a festive 'Tell Me'. At the emcee's request, WONDERGIRLS became teachers & taught the 'Nobody' dance steps to the audience. The emcees were also very eager as they vied each other to emulate. WONDERGIRLS then performed the ubiquitous 'Nobody' & even spoke in Chinese to express their wishes for 2011: "We hope to get to know more fans next year."

Feng-shang's main course

Although the show adopted more of a fashion theme, its music segments were also prominent. There were performances by Kelly Chen, Gigi Leung, Joseph Cheng, Cyndi Wang & others. Zhejiang TV also showcased its China Blue artistes Yuan Ye & Hai Feng, who took to the stage for their signature songs.

Another special feature was its second concert [sic] in Seoul. Korea's Young Heavenly King RAIN appeared amid great fan excitement. Popular singers like WONDERGIRLS, 2PM, 2AM [sic] also performed, giving the Hallyu (Kpop) fans ample enjoyment. There was also a little interlude during the show: a spotlight suddenly caught fire as it tracked between performer & audience. Fortunately, the nearby staff quickly extinguished it before it caused serious damage. The gala was able to continue.

I can't translate it completely, but from what I got out of Google Translate, Yoobin said something to/about Mimi (and eating?) in the first tweet. The second to last one was about the new year, and I have no clue what SunMi in Korean said before that.

Yoobin is having dinner with Sunmi today (New Year's Day).

It is an indication that WG has returned to Korea. WG always drops these little 'whereabouts' hints as part of fan service.

Dunno whether it's due to her background, but I sense that Yoobin writes in a different Hangul style than the other members. Almost conversational.

But her messages are sometimes decipherable if you break up her Hangul words (eg. where the spacings are & the punctuations are supposed to be) & see what the Google Translate interpretations are. (Especially in Chinese, for me.)

The Nyuma couple also sent New Year greetings in Hangul in the earlier tweets.

Yoobin tweeted hers around the same time as Yeeun.

Sunmi appears to have literally watched the clock as the new year rolled in. LOL
