[bEST BRAND AWARDS] Seven Luck Casino pulls off trailblazing growth

Grand Korea Corp., which runs Seven Luck Casino, received the tourism promotion award from the government on Oct. 14 for contributing about $300 million, a formal recognition for the premium facilities' role in attracting foreign tourists.

The award, marking the first-ever honor given to a casino operator in Korea, illustrates Grand Korea's achievement in creating a new market successfully on the strength of Seven Luck Casino's surging popularity. The casino attracted a total of 776,000 customers in 2007, up 56 percent from a year earlier. Its revenue also jumped 228 percent to 285 billion won during the same period.

Grand Korea CEO Kwon Oh-nam said, "The award comes as a special recognition for the company's continued efforts to innovate, and Grand Korea will take all the necessary steps to strengthen its position in the market."

Seven Luck Casino's impressive growth helped drive up the equally respectable growth of Korea's broader casino business targeting foreign tourists. Korean casinos serving exclusively foreign tourists are encouraging them to stay longer and spend more when they stay here, creating a spin-off output estimated at 1.9 trillion won ($1.3 billion) for the Korean economy. The amount of money spent by foreign tourists checking out Korean casinos was $461 on the average in 2006, but shot up to $504 in 2007.

Grand Korea launched Seoul Gangnam branch in January 2006. About six months later, it went on to open the second casino at Millennium Seoul Hilton and the third one at Busan Lotte. Grand Korea is currently considering plans to make inroads into casino resort business in a bid to beef up its business portfolios while eyeing the possibility of sending its casino operation professionals to overseas markets through the Dealer Academy.

Seven Luck Seoul Gangnam sports a uniquely Asian atmosphere and offers rich gaming experiences with upscale game tables and machine-based games. The casino is strategically located in the metropolitan Seoul's upscale business district of Gangnam.

Seven Luck Millennium Seoul Hilton, located near the Seoul Station and other key business and cultural hotspots, mixes refined customer services with a wide range of games for tourists. Seven Luck Busan Lotte in the southeastern port city of Busan, has adopted European- style casino games along with colorful interior that spices up gaming experiences.

Meanwhile, Grand Korea developed its own customer relationship management programs and received the customer-oriented management award at the CRM Fair Fall 2008 held on Oct. 22.

Paramount Pictures have revealed a series of brand new posters from "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" via MySpace. The one-sheets showcase six major characters, Channing Tatum's Duke, Marlon Wayans' Ripcord, Sienna Miller's The Baroness, Rachel Nichols' Scarlett, Ray Park' Snake Eyes and Lee Byung-hun's Storm Shadow, in their fighting outfits.

"G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" is set ten years in the future and chronicles the rise of the Cobra Organization. Focusing on Duke and Ripcord's introduction to the elite G.I. Joe team, it follows the team from the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps as they fight the corrupt arms dealer Destro and the growing threat of the Cobra in plunging the world into chaos.

Based on the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toy franchise, the action adventure sees "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" producer Stephen Sommers serving as the film's helmer. Apart from Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Ray Park and Lee Byung-hun, it also features Dennis Quaid, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Christopher Eccleston. Paramount Pictures have set the movie to arrive in U.S. theaters on August 7.

rubie, thanks for the profile of all his leading actresses, will check them out one by one later or maybe I could help compile their pictures like what the thread-mistress did in SHK's thread on her leading men :)

That would be really great Jan, if you can help us with the compilation.. a fabulous idea indeed. Then we can PM the respective 'owner' of the posts on Page 1 to ask them to edit the new content in. If any particular member(s) hasn't been in soompi for awhile (can't be contacted/no response via PM).. we can always ask the Moderator to help with the editing. That's what been done to GBW thread.

Just let us know if we could assist you in any way, too.

I am really impressed with the team effort on the first page, very informative on everything LBH! When my friends saw dvd of LBH in the store, they would call me up for info and where would I go but to log into the first page B)

Credits and gratitude should be given to our threadmistress, chula.. who made everything possible for us.

An article at Yonhap (Korea) mentions.. hopefully correctly guessed by blur-rubie :sweatingbullets:

1 - it seems that fans will be able to send text messages (through the site?) to Byunghun-ssi.. which was what triggers the extremely high traffic

2 - the new website will be available in various languages? and visual to cater fans from all over the world?? Is this true? But so far.. the instructions are in Korean, no?

Hopefully ylin, Sung-ja, Cynthia.. anyone.. everyone.. can share more info/insight on the new website? Please.

Wonder what else is reported by the Korean media..

Love the Storm Shadow poster up there.:wub:

A fabulous shot ...the curve of his body showing despite the heavy costume.

I can almost feel the fierceness of his character in the movie by just looking at the poster.

A perfectly executed pose by BH!

Well said, kimchibabe-ssi! :w00t: Sexy curve indeed!

It really is, huh.. a precious.. shot.. as if knowing.. how we totally like it. 3drool.gif It's also great that rather than front or back view poses like the others.. the shot from sideway simply showed a cool Hunnie curve.

Another Storm-y pic.. a bigger curve.. I mean bigger shot..

Actually I can access to the page only via the address that ylin posted here. Even if I log in, I cannot enter the new page right now due to the server problem.

Yes! This is great! :w00t: You can write a very short message and it goes to our HUNNIE!:wub::wub:

I already tried sending a message, but not opened yet.

I think they are still under construction to make the page for trilingual, Korean, Japanese and English. So far I found out the BIOGRAPHY, has 3 language tabs and if you click English, it appears in English!

But I still have to wait and see to check everything after they reopen the page.

The title also say Pyjamas party... I'm afraid rubie-hunnie is dreaming again :sweatingbullets:

Aish, being a rookie fan of LBH, sometimes there are tons of questions I like to ask but was afraid to :sweatingbullets:

Take for example, I was always curious as to what exactly does Rubeurs mean? Does it has anything to do with rubie-hunnie (seriously that’s what my lame mind was always wondering); does BH know there's this devotedly drooler hunnie known as rubie in Soompi and that is why he chose the name Rubeurs for his site; sometimes Rubeurs reminds me of Ruben Studdard from the American idol and I don't know why? Since the word keeps popping up these days so I thought I better checked with my chingu and finally got the real meaning. Indeed it has something to do with precious rubie ruby... so Rubeurs is the masculine name for the jewel ruby and it’s BH’s birthstone, so now I know <_<

I must say the website looks very inviting and homeyness - can't wait to access into this Hunnie Harmonious Homepage!

'G.I, JOE' LEE BYUNG HUN

posterphoto78344.jpeg

No gun, but a double sided sword is what Lee Byeong-Heon is holding in this poster.

He has been popular through "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" where he was the bad guy. However, for the new Hollywood film, "G.I. Joe" Lee is Storm Shadow who is excellent with his double sided sword.!

For this Paramount Pictures Film, Storm Shadow character poster was released as well as other 5 characters who are in this film.

Other characters are all posing with a gun, however, Lee is with a white costume, white mask, and a double sided sword!

Lee is fighting against the Cobra Army as a double secret agent messenger!

This film will be released on August 7th.

LEE BYUNG HUN IS STORM SHADOW

January 28th, 2009 // by javabeans

gijoe_storm.jpg

Lee Byung-heon is only one of a fairly large cast for the upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, but he gets his own rather spiffy-looking promo poster.

He plays the character of Storm Shadow in his upcoming role. Technically Lee is making a dual Hollywood debut, although I’m not sure which of his two films will release first, the other being I Come With The Rain co-starring Josh Hartnett and Takuya Kimura, helmed by the Vietnamese-French director Anh Hung Tran.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is set for a U.S. premiere date of August 7; check out the posters featuring the other characters under the cut.

The movie cast features actors Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Christopher Eccleston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Ray Park, Said Taghmaoui, Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans and Dennis Quaid.

Playing the role of Duke is Channing Tatum:

Absolutely agree that it's rather a spiffy-looking poster for Storm Shadow.. not bad at all.. considering the wait and everything. It's cool that.. we don't cringe first (looking at the poster).. as posters, in my opinion.. are important as any movie's appetizers. :sweatingbullets:

Jan-hunnie.. believe it or not.. I really don't know why it's called Rubeurs in the first place, only that it's the name for BH's Korean fans/fanclub.. his own personal & official homepage in Korea. I remember I asked about this a long time ago when I started following BH but I don't think I got any clear/complete answer for it except it's the name they use for the Korean fans which subsequently been used to describe the Japanese Rubeurs and international Rubeurs (foreign fans).

Hopefully someone can help clarify this for us, too. I would really love to know the reason.. if any.

But wait!!! :w00t: Our rookie-Jan.. has cracked the mystery open! thumbup.gif Well done!!! Fabulous sharing indeed..

RUBEURS is Latin for RUBY!!! Simply fascinating! :w00t:

It is the birthstone for July babies (in this case, Byunghun-ssi.. and rubie, too  ).. so.. it is what it is, huh. Finally.. I can rest my mind searching for the answer. Phew! See.. it's really good to have an inquisitive mind.. be a curious cat. :P By asking and sharing.. we truly learn something.. every day.

It's has nothing to do with Rubeurs when I started to use the ID ruby/rubie some 7 years ago.. it's simply because I'm born in July.. that's why I'm attracted to use "ruby" in Sokorean.com and "rubie" in soompi (which stuck on till today). But to note that Rubeurs is also actually ruby.. how fabulous is that.rbhcool.gifJan... let me give you one big HUG! hug.gif And MWAHHHH!

Ruby is the official birthstone for the month of July. Ruby is given at the gem for the 40th wedding anniversary.

Ruby is the most valuable variety of corumdum. Ruby varies in color from pink red to brown red. Rubies with the finest color come from Myanmar (formerly Burma). The ruby is one of the hardest stones in nature, second only to the diamond. Very good quality rubies are rare and fetch exceptionally high prices. Good quality stones of at least 2 carats are still quite valuable.

The name Ruby is from the Latin "rubeur" meaning red. In Sanskrit it was called "ratnaraj" meaning "king of precious stones".

Legend has it that a ruby instills health, wealth, wisdom and success in love. The ruby is considered a stone of power and passion. It is supposed to bestow energy and willpower. The alchemists adopted the "perfect ruby" as a symbol of the philosopher's stone or elixir of life.

janie-hunnie, BH captured a lot of HUNnie hearts for the first time due to his BD appearance and performance. There's no turning back after it.

Just like rubes, I love this Men's Uno pic of BH.

Good info, janie, i din know Rubeurs meaning also until now...... one thing i noticed is that the K-fans often use creative words for their fan clubs....

Hopefully, more BH fans can get in touch with him thru this website. I'm sure a lot of his fans want to know more about him, even the tiniest of detals.

It's a bad thing that we lost contact with BH's rep, Charles Pak-ssi.

We used to just email him everytime we want to know or clear things or ask the latest on BH.

I still have all those precious CP responses stored in my In-box.

I am slowly feeling the excitement in watching BH's performance as Storm Shadow in G.I. Joe tho it's still so far away. All those news tidbit and teasers make me anticipate for it.

I wub his poster......
