by Jonathan M. Hicap Manila Bulletin
Two women, one a singer, were arrested and charged by the police for trying to blackmail and extort 5 billion won (about P214 million) from Korean actor Lee Byung Hun.
The blackmail reportedly involved a cell phone video of the actor supposedly uttering obscenities, which the women threatened to make public.
The matter is now under investigation with BH Entertainment, the actor’s agency, telling ENewsWorld in a statement how they reported the extortion to the police last Aug. 28.

The agency then warned media, “Making imprudent reports on the case is considered cooperating with the perpetrators’ intention to invade his privacy…”
They added, “We politely ask that you stay away from reporting on unverified facts.”

G.I. Joe Actor Allegedly Extorted Over Sexy Talk
Brian Ashcraft Kotaku.com
Two women were arrested this week in South Korea over an alleged attempt to extort five million dollars from G.I. Joe actor Lee Byung-hun. One of the women, it seems, is a K-pop singer.
According to Sports Chosun and eNews Today (via tipster Sang), Lee met a model and K-pop singer Dahee Kim of the girl group GLAM at a bar. Allegedly that night, Lee used profanity and started talking about inappropriate things, which the women supposedly recorded on a smartphone.
Reports state that on August 28, the two women allegedly threatened to leak the video online if Lee did not pay them five million dollars. Lee reported the incident to his management, who then contacted the police.
Dahee Kim also provided the voice for SeeU, the Korean version of Vocaloid. Lee also starred in Capcom's Lost Planet.
This isn't the first time Lee has been involved in a scandal. Back in 2010, he was involved in a legal battle over sexual misconduct. The suit, it seems, was withdrawn.
GLAM's record label Big Hit Entertainment is quoted as saying it is aware Kim was arrested, but added that it hasn't spoken to her recently and that the arrest is a private matter. Police are currently investigating the alleged extortion, with some reports stating that the alleged video was discovered.
Lee Byung-hun is slated to appear in the upcoming Terminator film as the T-1000. Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back as the Terminator.
Update: According to Star News, Kim has apparently confessed and deeply regrets what happened. The police have handed her laptop and smartphone over to the cybercrime division.

GLAM’s agency, Big Hit Entertainment, confirmed through a press release the same day that Da-hee is involved in the case but that she could not be reached.

Newsen Kim Hyung Woo  Translation Credit : Yeawon Jung

Currently going through police investigation for allegedly blackmailing Lee Byung Hun, GLAM’s Da Hee admitted to the allegations and apologized.
On September 2 and 3, Da Hee went through an investigation at Gangnam Police Station. Gangnam Police Station requested an arrest warrant for Da Hee for allegedly threatening Lee Byung Hun, demanding a large sum of money.
The agency told Newsen on September 2, “Da Hee admitted to the allegation and has expressed her apologies.”
Currently going through police investigation, the agency rep stated that Da Hee seemed to be struggling mentally. The rep stated, “Da Hee is currently in a state of daze. I don’t think she knew that the incident would get to this point."
Since Da Hee is not living with the other members and there were no official schedules to carry out, the agency couldn’t get in touch with her. The agency was able to visit the police station in the afternoon of September 2 and hear out Da Hee’s situation through the attorney.
The agency rep said, “We couldn’t talk about many things because we had a limited time to meet. She admitted to the allegations and apologized.”
Then what will happen to GLAM that Da Hee is a part of? Since releasing the third single in 2013 and the Valentine project song Give It 2 U in February of 2014, GLAM has not been promoting.
The agency rep said, “We can only focus on Da Hee right now. We didn’t even have the chance to start discussing about GLAM.”
Meanwhile, on September 2, Gangnam Police Station requested an arrest warrant for GLAM’s Da Hee for allegedly threatening Lee Byung Hun, demanding that he pay a large sum of money.
Lee Byung Hun’s agency stated through the press release on September 1, “On August 28, Lee Byung Hun was blackmailed, threatening to disclose his personal information unless he pay billions of won. It’s common for celebrities to get ridiculous threats but we sued them right away.”
The agency added, “The perpetrators are acquaintances of Lee Byung Hun’s friend and they admitted to making a threat,” and pointed out, “We think that this case involves a malicious crime taking advantage of the fact that he is a famous celebrity.”

BH Entertainment, Lee’s entertainment label, officially announced, “We do not plan to go easy (on the blackmailers).”

2 Women Charged with Blackmailing Lee Byung-hun
Source: The ChosunIlbo
Two women have been charged with blackmailing star actor Lee Byung-hun by threatening to publish a video clip of the actor making lewd comments at them, police in Gangnam said Tuesday.
They allegedly tried to extort W5 billion (US$1=W1,018).
One woman is a girl band member who debuted in 2012 and the other is a model. According to police, they claimed to have taken a video on their smartphone of the three drinking alcohol at the actor's home last month and exchanging lewd banter, and allegedly threatened to post it on the Internet unless Lee paid them off.
Lee reported the incident on Aug. 28 and the women were arrested early Monday morning. Police confiscated their smartphones and laptop computers and recovered the video.
Lee is apparently heard to ask the women about their sexual preferences but there was no physical contact, police said.
"One of the suspects has admitted the charges but the other refused to talk at first but eventually agreed to be investigated," a police spokesman said.
There is a controversy over where the video was taken. Lee's management agency BH Entertainment said he met the two women in a restaurant and they never came to his house for a drink.
Police initially said the video was taken at Lee's house but retracted the comments later and said they were unable to confirm the location.
Lee married actress Lee Min-jung (32) in August last year. She has not commented.
The actor apparently told his agency that he did not make any comments or behaved in any way that would make him vulnerable to blackmail.
