Zo In-sung drops out of ‘Martial Arts’

Actor Zo In-sung has dropped out of the movie he was working on, tentatively titled “Martial Arts.” His agency reported that the movie schedule no longer matched Zo’s.

Zo was cast for “Martial Arts” three years ago and has declined a few other movies while waiting for production to crank up.

“We are sorry that the movie is only now being produced since the movie officials and Zo have waited for so long,” said CJ Entertainment, the investment distribution company. “The production company is looking for a replacement.”

“Martial Arts” received investment from China for more than 30 percent of the total production cost of the film, amounting to 20 million dollars (22.6 billion won), said CJ Entertainment.

Zo decided to star on “Martial Arts” right after he was discharged from the army in May 2011. However, shooting was put off due to investment problems.

Zo, who couldn’t wait longer, came back to the small screen recently with SBS drama “That Winter, the Wind Blows.”

“Martial Arts” is a science fiction film set in the future where a man inadvertently visiting a ghost town, “Byulee,” fights against the spiritual force trying to destroy the settlement.

The movie will be directed by Park Kwang-hyun, the director of the movie “Welcome to Dongmakgol” in 2005.

Jo In-sung drops sci-fi action film project

Fans of Jo In-sung, you’ll have to wait a bit longer to see him in his big-screen comeback because he’s just dropped the futuristic thriller film he’d signed on to do years ago, Fist Fighting.

Reportedly, he’s leaving the production because of scheduling conflicts, which seems like a fair reason since this movie has been in the works for ages—Jo In-sung first joined in 2011, and soon afterward Lee Yeon-hee hopped aboard as his co-star. But news about progress has been scarce and I’d been wondering what was to come of the supposedly large-scale blockbuster. I suspect money is the primary factor; budget issues were cited as one reason for the filming delays. And you know it’s not a good sign when your star, who has waited over two years for you to get up and running, says he’s gotta go because of all the other things he’s got scheduled when he doesn’t have another movie or drama lined up yet.

Fist Fighting is a sci-fi action story set in a near-future city (in the year 2050) that stars a young hero who refuses to stand idly by in the face of injustice. He and the mysterious girl he falls for happen upon a village that comes under attack by more powerful forces, and together they stand up to fight the oppressors. A David and Goliath story of sorts, then, only with sci-fi and supernatural powers to liven up the mix.

The project sounds like it could’ve made for an entertaining film, particularly in the hands of Welcome to Dongmakgol’s director Park Kwang-hyun. The movie is a joint Korean-Chinese production with over a third of the production budget coming from Chinese investors with a goal of being widely released there. But it’ll have to be without Jo In-sung—who is, let’s face it, much of the draw.

Recently, it popular actor Jo In Sung became a brand model for cosmetics brand Missha. Missha has now revealed the first of hopefully many CFs with the actor for its 'LOVE YOUR SKIN, LOVE YOUR SOUL' campaign.

The CF has everything a Jo In Sung fan could want. He is outfited in sleek suits, with a modern man-of-the-world vibe. Jo In Sung is shows off his perfect complexion in various urban settings.

During a brand event, Jo In Sung stated, "I'm very happy to be a Missha model. I hope to give strength to Missha so it can continue to be a trusted brand."

A Missha spokesman praised the actor, "We chose Jo In Sung because he will represent our elegant and revolutionary image to a variety of age groups."

Wow, it's over 1 minute. ^^ I didn't hear much news about his newest movie so was wondering, but now that the news gotten out we know he'll be gearing towards something else. Jo In Sung re-enacts the 'cotton candy kiss' with a lucky fan

You can tell which celebrities care by their fan service, and during his latest fan meeting, Jo In Sung proved he's definitely one of the nicest celebrities out there!

Jo In Sung held an up-close-and-personal fan meeting with 500 fans from Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, and more at NH Art Hall in Seoul on September 1. True to the theme of the fan meeting, 'That Winter, We Meet Jo In Sung', a lucky fan was able to re-enact the drama's unforgettable cotton candy kiss scene with Jo In Sung.

The actor also gave fans the chance to make their wishes come true throughout the event, answered questions about 'That Winter, The Wind Blows', and gifted fans with the bracelet that Oh Soo wore in the drama.

What a lucky girl!

I got this done on the plane, and the guy sitting next to me kept peeking my screen when I was translating all the kissing skills and bed scene stuff. What an experience.

[That Winter Report 34] Director Kim Kyu Tae is on the stage! Director stepped onto the stage proudly as the applause rose for him. Both actors stood up and greeted him. Director Kim, ‘It’s my first time meeting you, I’m Director Kim.’ And he posed shyly. (laugh)

[That Winter Report 35] KB, ‘director is always nervous when he’s on the stage.’ MC, ‘I understand that, (laugh) I wanna ask about director your views on the two actors. First, how’s In Sung as an actor?’ DK, ‘He has brilliant kissing skills and unique breathing rhythms.’ (laugh)

[That Winter Report 36] MC, ‘So he’s a good actor with brilliant kissing skills?’ DK, ‘I’d say he excels in coordinating the kissing scenes in order to bring out the best image, rather than saying his kissing scenes fit into the actual situation. That’s what he’s good at as an actor. (laugh) Though I have no idea how he is doing in real life. (laugh)’

[That Winter Report 37] ‘I’m kidding, he’s really awesome in that! (laugh) It’s such a pity that there wasn’t any bed scene. (laugh, and at the same IS was so shy over that comment.)’ MC, ‘How’s KB then?’ DK, ‘Kim Bum is really a man more beautiful than flowers, I really envy him.’ (laugh) The three really look very close during the entire session.

[That Winter Report 38] MC, ‘It seems you three are really close. Do director Kim ever feel that with other actors before?’ DK, ‘I’ve started collaborative relationship with KB since my previous work ‘Padam Padam’, and I got close with In Sung over drinks.’ (laugh)

[That Winter Report 39] The laughter from the crowd was so long and loud that blocked my from listening to the next question.

[That Winter Report 40] DK, ‘You give too little time for me to talk, I still have more to say. How about I holding a Fan Meeting next year?’ Time really flies as our session with the director is about to over. MC, ‘It’s such a fun time talking to you, director! Thank you!’

[That Winter Report 41] DK, ‘Thank you. I’ll see you all next year during FM.’ (He then stood and made his exit. Both actors hugged him, and IS escorted him back to the backstage. He then quickly ran back to his position.)

[That Winter Report 42] IS, ‘You are at Director Kim’s Fan Meeting, I’m your MC today, Jo In Sung.’ (laugh) KB, ‘I’m Kim Bum.’ (laugh) Both, ‘Thank you all for coming.’(laugh)

[That Winter Report 43] Then it’s time for reenact all the famous scenes! IS draws two lucky numbers while KB draws one. It’s KB’s turn first with his motorcycle kiss.

[That Winter Report 44] Actually, it’s not even a real kiss!!(laugh) KB just cover them both under the blanket, that’s all!!

[That Winter Report 45] The one with IS is him putting on earmuff for the fan!! (I may have the following ones in wrong orders. (>_<))

[That Winter Report 46] The other fan was supposed to reenact the ‘bed scene’ with IS under close-up shots. Because they couldn’t lie down, so they tried to get the cheeks very close to each other!! \(//∇//)\

[That Winter Report 47] They called up for three additional fans, and the crowd went feverish. And they are reenact the scene where IS putting on necklace for the fan. It seems that they can bring the necklace back, same goes to the earmuff. ^^

[That Winter Report 48] The last re-enaction is of course the cotton candy kiss. They didn’t use real cotton candy for it. (alright then.) But he really put his face close to the fan. OMG!

[That Winter Report 49] The above is all about the fanmeeting, sorry for it not being very organized. Please allow your imagination to flow for the details. It’s time to say goodbye. They took photo with the entire audience.

[That Winter Report 50] They walked off the stage, shook hands or high-fived with fans in the front rows. They went back up the stage and made their last greeting.

[That Winter Report 51] They both expressed their gratitude and anticipation for us to love them more. After KB’s done with his speech, IS added, ‘Actually KB is not in a good condition today, he was hospitalized and wasn’t able to finish any schedule yesterday. He came here immediately after his discharge.’

[That Winter Report 52] KB kept shaking his head during IS’ ment. They made their exit while waving to the audience and throwing kisses. ^^

[That Winter Report 53] I was made aware that the two are really close friends. It was a event worth going. I want to thank In Sung, Kim Bum and Director Kim to make this trip to Japan despite busy schedules. And thank you all for reading this report, thank you all. There are so many more that I didn’t cover, but I believe I’ve delivered the atmosphere of the event.
