Honestly, I have a feeling that Rain's role in The Prince may be minimal, which I hope is not the case. If he selects this Hollywood movie to take on, it must have its universal appeals. Let's wish our prince the best of luck in all of his future endeavors! <:-P

Rain joins Bruce Willis for upcoming Hollywood film

20131126001184_0.jpg

Fresh off his comeback performance at this year’s Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong on Friday, officials at Cube Entertainment announced that Rain will also be making an on-screen comeback with his next Hollywood project.

Rain will star alongside actors Jason Patric, John Cusack and rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as well as action movie superstar Bruce Willis in the upcoming American action flick, “The Prince.” The new action thriller will be directed by Brian A. Miller, with Rain playing Willis’ on-screen friend Mark.

The screenplay revolves around a retired tough guy Las Vegas mobster, played by Patric, who is forced to return to his life of crime when his teenage daughter goes missing. Willis will play a corporate villain, a rare bad guy role for the actor. The filming for the movie is expected to start around the beginning of next month.

Rain is still slated to release his new album on Jan. 6.

*** I feel that fans will make a road trip to Mobile, Alabama while this is in the making. This is so tempting…because I’ll be in US around December. Very excited for Rain & happy for him as always although I feel that he’s being type-cast for action role in Hollywood. And I get the feeling Rain won’t be in it much. Well, here’s to hoping “Mark” is a character that will clearly stand-out. I hope he practices his English more. Rain’s English is ok…Anyway, I wish him good luck. Although, it’s an action movie again, I hope just like NA they will give him that same scope to really show off his acting talent. Because Hollywood is a very prejudiced industry. I enjoyed watching NA, I confess because he was the main lead but damn, he was hot there, huh? Although, he’s not the main lead, the exposure will do Rain some good once again. Action genre has never been my thing but anything where RAIN is, I’m on it. This movie I think is the standard action movie, lots of fights & explosion. This is probably the best decision for him to make. And that’s do first a movie in Hollywood rather than in his own country. Of course, between China & Hollywood, I’d rather go for the latter.:))

Rain takes Hollywood movie The Prince as comeback role

by javabeans | November 26, 2013

bi_241.jpg

Rain is out of the army and heading back to work, skipping Chungmuro to head straight to Hollywood with a movie called The Prince. He’ll get to show off some action moves as he stars alongside Bruce Willis and John Cusack in the Brian A. Miller-directed thriller.

The plot unfolds as a former mob enforcer (Jason Patric) finds himself confronting old enemies when his teenage daughter disappears and he returns to Las Vegas to try to find her. Bruce Willis takes the primary villain’s role as the guy who’s got an old score to settle with Patric, while John Cusack plays the hero’s friend and retired mob guy. Rain plays a character named Mark, but his role has not been described.

The cast also includes 50 Cent, Jonathon Schaech, and Gia Mantegna. For such a list of big names, the film’s budget is a modest $15 million, which is hefty by Chungmuro standards but assuredly not by Hollywood’s.

The Prince will be Rain’s first film since the aviation action movie R2B: Return to Base, which he shot before enlisting in 2011; before that he had his Hollywood debut with a supporting role in 2008′s Speed Racer, then took the lead in the Wachowski brothers’ 2009 action movie Ninja Assassin. I actually think he did his best acting work in his earlier or lesser-known projects (I’m a Cyborg But That’s Okay, Sangdoo Let’s Go to School, and Runaway Plan B, for instance), but I guess once you go Hollywood, that’s all anybody will talk about.

Rain was discharged from military service earlier this summer and was a recent performer at the MAMA awards on Mnet; he announced that he will be making his K-pop comeback in January and has an upcoming album release planned. Filming on The Prince begins next month in Alabama; the film aims to release in 2014.

Rain to Be Investigated Again for Violation of Military Rules?Singer Rain might undergo investigation by the public prosecutor’s office. According to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office, an ordinary citizen who heard about Rain’s military service controversy on TV has lodged a complaint against him saying, “As a celebrity, he took frequent leave from service, breaking military code and violating military criminal law.” The citizen filed the complaint against Rain after watching the June broadcast of SBS current affairs program “Scene 21” which featured celebrity soldiers such as Sangchu, Se7en, KCM and Rain leaving camp without official notice, and showed some of these soldiers visiting massage parlors. A prosecution official revealed with regards to Rain’s investigation, “We will have to first examine the documents related to the complaint, and if necessary we will summon Rain and those around him for investigation.” Rain’s agency has refuted claims of re-investigation via TV Report on November 28, “We have not been contacted about any investigation. We found out about it for the first time today on the news. Neither Rain, nor the company, has been contacted. We will be keeping an eye on the situation.” The agency added, “Rain is currently in Japan on tour. He will hold his last concert today and be back in Korea on November 29.” Rain entered active military service in October 2011, becoming an assistant instructor of the 5th Division at the Recruit Training Center, and transferred to the Ministry of Defense’s Public Relations Department in March 2012. Rain carried out his duties as a celebrity soldier and was discharged from service in July this year. The prosecution has not yet decided if they will be issuing Rain with a summons for investigation. Rain had previously received seven days probation for his violation of military rules.

[28-Nov-13][DS]Defense Ministry reconfirmed, "There wasn't any problem at all regarding our investigation on Rain's military law violations."

12%28106%29.jpg

The Defense Ministry side has reconfirmed the position regarding Rain who is currently going to be under investigation by the public prosecutor's office, saying, "At that time, there wasn't any problem at all regarding the Defense Ministry's investigation on Rain's military law violations."

In a telephone call with Daily Sports on the 28th, the Defense Ministry officials said, "Rain was held in disciplinary confinement for violation of four military laws during his entertainment soldier days. It was not a situation that he could have had other severe penalties to deal with."

Rain normally left the army on July 10th after being put on his good behavior before his discharge. His meeting privately with his lover 'Kim Tae Hee' while off the base for official military duties became a problem, but it did not lead him to have other severe penalties to deal with. But more than four months later, South Korean prosecutor's 8th Detective Department has decided to conduct investigation into that case on complaint of Mr.ㄱ, an ordinary person.

In reply, the Defense Ministry side said, "At the time, the investigation and punishment were legally completed and that's why Rain was normally able to be discharged. If we have to clarify our position after watching how the prosecution's investigation is ongoing, we will do it."

Rain had served as an entertainment soldier since he was transferred to the service support troop in the Defense Ministry after he served as an assistant instructor in the 5th Division after his enlistment in October, 2011.
