@ willenette,

Ever since I look up Rain’s MS days’ photos and KCM next to him, I get the impression that KCM is another gentle ballad singer. When I see him, it reminded me of Jo Sung Mo, the first Korean ballad singer that I like. Probably the spectacles on KCM that gives me the impression of soft image. Sidetrack, I wonder what has happen to JSM now. He seems to have dropped out of the entertainment radar ever since he got married.    :-/

Back to KCM. I cannot see him otherwise until you say that he has muscular body and high toned voice. Then I watched his performance of Rain's 'It's Raining' that was posted by @merycote and thought, oh my, so like Rain in terms of singing and not bad a body build and dancing too. I'm seeing a different man here. I have to remind myself that I should not judge a book by its cover!  ;))

This is sad that HSS is sick when Rain finishes his MS. I hope HSS gets well enough to work with Rain in his comeback. HSS is looking forward to many springs and firsts to come with Rain in his message earlier and I hope Rain gets to personally work with him and see those through with HSS by his side!   [-O< :-bd :D

English fever catches on among K-stars

05-05%282%29.jpg

Having fun is crucial in learning foreign language since it’s long race’

By Park Si-soo

The Korea-China relationship is closer than ever. Some diplomatic analysts attribute it to President Park Geun-hye delivering a speech in Chinese at China’s prestigious Tsinghua University in June.

(skipped unrelated.....)

Korean singers and actors seem well aware of this function, so they place equal emphasis on foreign language studies and entertainment work before trying to penetrate overseas markets while riding the Korean wave, or “hallyu.”

It’s no surprise that English is the most sought-after foreign language among Korean entertainers making overseas debuts. In the past, learning English didn’t necessarily mean that entertainers aimed to make their debuts in super competitive English-speaking markets such as the United States and the U.K.

The singer Rain, also known as Jung Ji-hoon, is known to have learned English from actor Lee Bum-soo’s wife Lee Yoon-jin, a professional Korean-English interpreter. Though the singer’s fame is largely tainted due to a series of unsavory scandals he was embroiled in during his military service, the 31-year-old, who made his U.S. debut in 2008 through the action movie “Speed Racer,” and reinforced his fan base with “Ninja Assassin” in 2009, will be back on stage soon to regain his past glory.

“I started teaching him (Rain) with his U.S. debut only 100 days away,” interpreter Lee said. “Back then he did not have enough time to learn English step by step. So my teaching was focused on how to deliver ‘key messages’ in English during interviews there. Actually there is no problem catching a speaker’s key message with only a couple of words or sentences.”

Rain's first fan meeting after discharge postponed

July 31, 2013

Rain has some cloudy news for his fans. The singer, who was discharged on July 10, postponed his first post-military fan meeting.

The meeting with Rain's official fan club was originally set for August 3 KST at Kyunghee University, and it was planned as his first promotional event after his discharge as a way to keep his promise with The Cloud.

Cube Entertainment stated, "We apologize to his fans for the postponement of Rain's first official promotional event due to his other preparations. We're planning to reschedule the fan meeting in a couple months, and we'll do our best to prepare good performances for all the fans who were waiting for this fan meeting."

Singer-actor Rain has postponed his fan meeting that was supposed to take place in Korea this weekend.

His agency Cube Entertainment said on Wednesday that the event that was set to be held in Seoul on Saturday with his official fan club, has been pushed back to a later date.

Cube then explained that it was postponed “in consideration of various factors including the process of its preparation” and that the new date for the meet-and-greet will be “announced within several months.”

Several thousands of fans were set to turn up at the fan meeting through which Rain would officially meet with his fans for the first time since his discharge from the military three weeks ago.

Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, was in the military for almost two years to fulfill the mandatory duty required of all able-bodied Korean men.

Thanks Nancyzak, for appreciating Rain with his intelligence and smartness.   When Rain is with strangers or just acquaintances, he closed-up like a clam but when  he is with his pals. he opened up with ease.  As I told you, he is very transparent.  Fans respect his mood swings, specially when he is beset with problems regarding his career and businesses.  :)>- :-bd

I think KCM's mom provides the answer for the longing for his mother.  I know that until now, there is that guilt feeling in him that he should have given his late mother all the comforts of life and medical care if she is still living.   Wonderful, if  the Mama of KCM meets and feeds him with her home cooked recipes, since Rain, before his being romantically linked to KTH, professed that the most important thing for him, more than love life is F  O  O D.  :)) :))      Let's wait how he will tackle this issue once asked again and know what is now his priority.  :D :|

Yes, maybe by now he must be bonding already with his former comrades at the camp which I am sure are now included in his circle of buddies. ;;)  I surmise that he will present KTH to them with pride, having conquered the heart of SK's most sought after lady celebrity/goddess.

********************************

@anjjo,

We shall see how transparent he will be from now on and how he is going to answer the question of which is more important now. Probably very diplomatically like "Equally. Both of us love each and we love food! Each can't survive without the other!"  :))

KTH said she can only make kimchi soup when asked in an interview by her costars in the promotion of JOJLIL. I hope she is being modest. If not, she better learn some cooking from her mummy to feed her man. They can't be running around looking for food in the middle of the night when both of them get hungry.

-R (Rain) vs K (KCM)

or K vs R

[Rain] : How have you been doing?

[Lee Jin Ho] and [Kim Sung Won] : I've been busy lately.

[KCM]: This week's theme is "Which Korean actress makes your heart

flutter?" Rain, who do you recommend?

[Rain] : I recommend actress 'Ko So Young' who starred in movie 'Beat'.

[KCM]: In my case, actress 'Shim Eun Ha' who starred in drama 'The Final Tactic'.

[Lee Jin Ho] : I recommend elder actress 'Ko Du Shim'. (laughs)

[Kim Sung Won] :Actress 'Lee Min Jung'

[Rain] : 'Ko So Young' was a teen idol in the 1990s. She has been married to

actor 'Jang Dong Gun'

[KCM] : 'Shim Eun Ha' has also enjoyed a happy marriage since she appeared in

several movies and dramas.

-Which do you think is more attractive between 'Ko So Young' and 'Shim Eun

Ha'?

[Rain] : Who is your ideal woman?

[Lee Jin Ho] : Actress 'Kim Sun Ah' doing wonders in her role.

[KCM] : I like actress 'Han Ga Yin' as much as I like 'Shim Eun Ha'.

[Kim Sung Won] : I like women who are perfect in hip hop music videos (laughs),

but I haven't met my Miss Right.

[KCM] : Rain, who is your favorite actress among 'Kong Hyo Jin', 'Song Hye

Kyo', 'Shin Min Ah', 'Yim Soo Jung', 'Lee Na Young', and 'Kim Tae Hee who

worked with you?

[Rain] : I like them all. (laughs) KCM, who is your favorite actress among them?

[KCM] : 'Kim Tae Hee'.

[Lee Jin Ho] : Not long ago I saw KCM fawning over 'Lee Wan' who is 'Kim Tae Hee's

younger brother. (laughs)

(‘Kim Tae Hee's younger brother left the army not long ago)

Part 5 (~3:28)

[KCM] : When broadcaster 'Boom' served in the army, he lent actor 'Lee Wan'

(who was a soldier, too, at that time) his (Boom's) long johns, the material of

which was excellent for keeping out the cold, and 'Lee Wan' went on vacation at

the right time. But, unfortunately, it snowed hard the next day, and Boom had

to clean the snow in front of his unit without his winter long johns on, trembling

with cold. When 'Lee Wan' came back to the unit, 'Boom' was angry with him, but

his anger melted away when 'Lee Wan' gave Boom his (Boom's) clean long johns

with a scent again. According to 'Lee Wan', Boom's long johns were washed with

'Kim Tae Hee's clothes. Boom kept his clean long johns with a scent and smelled

them whenever he had hard times. Likewise, I want to ask 'Lee Wan' to ask his

sister to wash my underwear with her clothes. (laughs)

Lol, they were very funny kekekeke... i can't imagine what was Rain think at that time ? He just pretended to be cool :D n i wondering how was KCM reaction when he finally knew that Rain dating KTH...did he praise him? .or maybe he envied him so much because he got a most beautiful women in the country :D

I think there a lot of man who envied Rain. He is a very lucky guy..he always paired with beautiful actress such as Gong Hyo Jin, Song Hye Kyo, Shin Min Ah, Im So Jung, Ha Ji Won, n Lee Nayoung.. n now he got the South Korea's goddess Kim Tae Hee. Wooww... Rain is the MAN B-) =D>

If Rain aggressively pursued KTH since March 2012 as reported, I'm sure in his heart, he likes her/likes her very much then, but I don't think it is the right time to say anything aloud on air. He may not have caught the "fish" yet. Moreover, I think he is the super secretive type when it comes to his love life. Maybe @anjjo and @willenette could attest to that.

As far as I know ( i'm not as expert as anjjo n willenette to give information about Rain :) ) Rain is not really open when it comes to his love life. But once when he appeared on KBS's Win Win (2010), he finally talked about it. He has revealed that he has only had four girlfriends in the past. His first love was in high scool n then he met a model before his debut, after his debut he dated two other girls. Of these four girls he believed he would marry each one. He said that whenever he fall in love he always think that he will get married. it's so sweet, isn't it ? :\"> :x in that program he also revealed details of how he dates, he have had a lot of dates in the cars to avoid unwanted attention from public, but it can be tiring. So he said " I think if u try to hide your self , people will notice u more so it's better to just go out in public and holds hand to look normal" :)

aaahhh I wish we will see the news about him n KTH dating in public area, holding hands n having a romantic dinner in restaurant.. just wait n see 8-> :\">

Rain, South Korean Army, PR Officer Scandal

91204-k-pop-singer-rain-cant-seem-to-shaK-pop singer Rain can't seem to shake the controversy relating to his two-year mandatory enlistment in the South Korean army.

K-pop singer Rain can't seem to shake the controversy relating to his two-year mandatory enlistment in the South Korean army.

Rain completed his military service on July 10, after a military court found him innocent of all charges relating to a PR officer's scandal that resulted in eight recruits receiving disciplinary action.

But two politicians in the South Korean Assembly feel he should be forced to enlist again like when international superstar Psy was forced to serve another 20 months after being found dodging his military duties through a celebrity loophole in 2007.

Like Us on Facebook : <a href="http://ad.doubleclick.net/jump/33u.kpopstarz/artcl;poz=artclmid;sz=250x250;ord=123456789?" target="_blank" ><img src="http://ad.doubleclick.net/ad/33u.kpopstarz/artcl;poz=artclmid;sz=250x250;ord=123456789?" border="0" alt="" /></a>

The demands for Rain to re-enlist stem from allegations that arose after Rain was honorably discharged, according to the website allkpop, when Kim Kwang Jin, chair of the Democratic Party's National Defense Committee charged that the star (along with nine other recruits) never filled out the proper paperwork to become part of the celebrity recruit program.

"Our country has compulsory military service, and it must be equal to all the citizens," one assemblyman said.

"But Rain became a celebrity recruit without even having to submit documents just because he is famous. Usually, celebrity recruits have an acceptance rate of three-to-one or four-to-one after all the documents are submitted, but it's obvious that he received special treatment."

"Currently, there are talks about Rain's re-enlistment, but the exact point of the problem brought up was that 10 celebrity recruits were accepted even without proper documentation. Since that is a problem, they should re-enlist," another assemblyman added.

"It's also true that one of the 10 recruits are Rain, but the problem was not just for Rain. Also, the investigation was not limited to those related to the massage parlor incident, but to the entire celebrity recruit."

Yet Kim stopped short of condemning the 10 soldiers who were admitted into the celebrity recruit PR agent program known as the Promotional Support Brigade without paperwork.

The National Defense Committee chair believes this was an administrative error that should be dealt with internally.

"Looking in detail of the inspection from the Ministry of Defense showed that there were bigger problems than those initially announced," Kim said.

"This problem shouldn't be solved by punishing the celebrity recruits or the employees, but by making the director of the Defense Media Agency and the administration of the Ministry of Defense take responsibility."

All eligible males between the ages of 18 and 35 must enroll for roughly two years of army service in South Korea (the length of mandatory enrollment changes by several months depending on which branch of the military that they serve in).

Before the elimination of the Promotional Support Brigade last month, pop stars wishing to enroll in the Ministry of Defense program were asked to submit their album sales figures and a letter of recommendation within three months of their enlistment.

The program was eliminated after the news program "Scene 21" behaving filmed celebrity recruits from the program behaving illegally after an army-sanctioned concert.

The footage prompted public charges of favoritism for famous soldiers.

K-pop singer Rain can’t seem to shake the controversy relating to his two-year mandatory enlistment in the South Korean army.

*** In military, how the salutes and bows look so robotic sometimes. hahaha - And I don't think it's something that should be totally looked down upon even it seems weird. :))

*** I thank the military that they clarified this sensitive issue. I'm honestly glad they confirmed they can't do that, to re-enlist RAIN. Besides, he didn't dodge his military service. In other words, that’s a big richard simmons to you all haters. You people who are narrow-minded who cannot accept the fact. Be informed people that isn't Rain's fault if "he got a free ride". Rain doesn't deserve all these shits. To the military, fix your problem... the system, looks like they've been on that boat for a while... Why punish him because of someone else's error. I'm sure current and future soldiers should learn from this.  Maybe he did something wrong as a celeb recruit once but his service is satisfactory. Sigh..... I'm ready for his comeback! :))

Ministry of Defense states Rain cannot be forced to re-enlist

Rain_1375843872_af_org.jpg

Although Rain has already been discharged, political circles as well as netizens have been calling for his re-enlistment along with other celebrity soldiers who were said to have become celebrity soldiers without all the necessary documents.

In response, the Ministry of Defense has stepped up to point out that the matter at hand is not something that should be thought of with re-enlistment in mind as the solution. They reason that although it is true that there were some documents that were not included when bringing Rain in as a celebrity recruit, this was due to different interpretations on the regulations about what documents were necessary for the celebrity soldier qualification process. For example, the regulation is said to call for a confirmation note and a letter of recommendation regarding the celeb's activities - however some interpret this to mean that just the confirmation note alone is enough while others might think that it means a letter of recommendation is also required in addition to the confirmation note.

They also reasoned that this is just a discrepancy in the matter of Rain transferring into the celebrity recruit unit, not a problem that exists with his actual enlistment into the military. Since they say there was no problem with Rain's actual enlistment, he cannot be called to re-enlist.

A rep from the Ministry of Defense commented, "Rain already finished his military service and was discharged as normal, so for him to 're-enlist' means that we must consider all the duties he carried out during his service as invalid."

Another rep stated, "Rain's re-enlistment is impossible. Rain, as well as other celebrity soldiers who have been discharged, have all lawfully completed their service... Unless a violation has occurred within military service law [regarding enlistment], we cannot force re-enlistment."
