Maybe his holidays will be restricted now or none at all already until release or even the "a week furlough" given to all celebrities, which are about to be discharged won't be given to him anymore. Or maybe they would extend his discharge for a month or two - these are the worst that I could think.of :)

anjjo  I know KTH will be with him till the end of this life's trial and battles and let's hold fast our hope without wavering that Rain will survive as he had done before in his past controversies.  =((

I wish of that too & hopefully she'll support and help  Jihoon to regain people's respect that he worked hard for more than 10 years. But, i'm sure Jihoon will get over these things and move on.... in the name of love.

On a lighter note, aside from being admired as a brilliant actor, "Lana"  might have a crush on Rain, too. heheh.  And who will not be,  I think that it's trash with the allegations that he is not good enough for KTH, actually, she, IMO is the most fortunate woman of all!  :))

[13-01-04] The ‘Outrage’ Over ‘Jung Ji Hoon's ‘Special Privileges’ and the Issue of ‘Human Rights’

  2013.01.05

In other words, the problem of the leaves given to Jung is to be considered not so much the personal responsibility of the solider but rather a problem of systemic inconsistency within the military of the Republic of Korea. Moreover, it is possible to question whether the aspects of this case that the Defense Ministry rushed to address as problematic are really beyond the boundaries of the conduct that ordinary soldiers generally engage in during vacation or leave.

For anyone who has suffered the hardships of active military duty, it is understandable that the idea of ‘Jung Ji Hoon' receiving "special privileged treatment"would arouse outrage. However, the crux of the matter is to whom this anger should be directed, and it appears that many people have completely misidentified the culprit. The real problem is not soldier Jung’s personal conduct but the policy of Korea’s Defense Ministry which has assigned a special status to celebrity entertainers within its enlistment system, and the benighted system which reflects the belief that the abuses of our outdated mandatory enlistment system can be just barely diluted in the public’s consciousness by generalizing from cases of such special treatment.

[13-01-03][Joynews]"Rain's vacations and leaves totaled 27 days, not 71 days ... the controversy spirals into a witch hunt"

2013.01.06

by 화니

Representative 'Shin In Gyu' of the Self-Reliant National Defense Network made an incisive statement about the public controversy over the conduct of entertainment soldier Rain (Jung Ji Hoon) that is threatening to deteriorate into a kind of witch hunt.

In a phone call with Joy News 24 on the morning of the 3rd, Mr. 'Shin In Gyu' commented that "There appears to be a tendency to escalate this issue into a severe witch hunt in a manner that reminds me of past incidents involving Tablo and Tajinyo. It’s necessary to evaluate the situation more level-headedly" and disclosed the results of his research.

According to Representative Shin, as had been disclosed by the Defense Agency for Public Information Services, Corporal 'Jung Ji Hoon' received a total of 17 days of reward vacations and 10 overnight leaves granted based on individual performance and 44 days of overnight leaves for the performance of work duties in the 10 month period he worked as an entertainment soldier in the Defense Ministry beginning in March of last year, making a sum total of 71 days of vacations or overnight leaves.

Representative Shin explained the reasons for the leaves in detail, arguing that "It is incorrect for the media to exaggerate based on this data to give the impression that Corporal 'Jung Ji Hoon' used as much as 71 days of vacation or leave days."

Representative Shin pointed out that first of all, it isn’t reasonable to include the 44 overnight leaves that were granted for work duties within the total of 71 days. Those 44 days consist of the 25 days that Corporal Jeong spent rehearsing choreography for the performance he had to give at the Yeosu Expo, as well as the 19 days in which he performed for the 'K-Force Special Show' performances.

Representative Shin claimed that "The 19 days during which Corporal Jung performed on the 'K-Force Special Show' should be regarded as a work assignment rather than a personal leave. He went to the location to perform his duties as in the case of expedition training, and therefore those days should be subtracted from the total in question. "

Representative Shin also gave specific explanations regarding the 25 days used for choreograph rehearsals in preparation for the Yeosu Expo performance. Meticulous practice was necessary to prepare thoroughly for the Expo, an event of national importance. Although initially Corporal Jeong was directed to ride the taxi to make the necessary trips including rides to the Defense Ministry, since the schedule of the choreography team often made it unavoidable to attend practice at dawn or at 8 in the morning, Corporal Jung was ordered instead to stay at the rehearsal site.

Representative Shin emphasized that during the two days of the Expo, Rain contributed to national pride by performing 8 songs each day, and that he has worked hard to raise morale through his 'K-Force Special Show' performances.

If the 44 days that Representative Shin claims to be have been used for work duties are subtracted, there are 27 days of overnight leaves or vacation days remaining.

Those 27 days include 17 days of reward vacation, and 10 overnight leaves granted based on individual performance. Representative Shin clarified that "Overnight leaves based on individual performance are allocated to each soldier to be used over the course of 21 months, and Corporal Ji-Hoon Jeong used 10 of those days early because he needed to meet with his attorney and attend court about a lawsuit. Therefore, he will not be able to claim any more the overnight leaves based on individual performance."

Representative Shin pointed out that "As of 2012, ordinary soldiers in our military use an average of 43 days for vacations or overnight leaves over the course of 21 months. If we divide this total by 10 months, that is 21 days per month. Compared to this average, Rain was granted 6 more days" and he criticized the "tendency to exaggerate the situation as though Rain had enjoyed some enormous preferential treatment, when it is a matter of six extra leave days."

Representative 'Shin In Gyun' argued that "It is improper for the media and the commentators on the internet to indiscriminately attack Rain’s conduct based on an exaggerated total of 71 days. I think we should at least accurately establish the fact that his leaves actually amounted to 27 days, in other words, only around 6 more days than the average, before venturing to criticize."

[13-01-04][TV Report]Defense Ministry "Regarding the alleged special privilege granted to Rain … Rain’s vacation days included overnight stays at the Defense Agency for Public Information Services"

2013.01.06

by 화니

The authorities have issued a statement clarifying their position regarding the controversy that has arisen regarding whether the singer Rain(age 31, Jung Ji Hoon), known to be in a romantic relationship with actress 'Kim Tae Hee', received special preferential treatment during his military service.

On the 4th, the MBC TV show entitled ‘Section TV Entertainment Communications' (hereafter referred to as "Section") reported on the controversy regarding the special preferential treatment Rain allegedly received as an entertainment soldier.

The controversy about the military’s preferential treatment flared up after the entertainment media outlet Dispatch reported that Rain and 'Kim Tae Hee', were in a romantic relationship, along with a photo of the two celebrities on a date.

Initially, criticisms were made about Rain’s outfit. In the photos disclosed, Rain was not wearing the regulatory military hat, and was wearing a civilian jacket over his military uniform. A spokesperson for the Defense Ministry stated that "A soldier must always maintain an orderly outfit to uphold the dignity of the military" and added that "Rain will not necessarily be punished, but the plan is that he will be instructed to wear the military outfit properly through training and guidance."

According to the report made by Dispatch, Rain went on dates with 'Kim Tae-Hee' as frequently as around once a week since last November, while on overnight or daytime leave. Immediately following the report, there was a deluge of critical comments on the internet claiming that "The military granted Rain preferential treatment as an entertainment soldier."

In actuality, the average number of days that an ordinary soldier receives for vacation is 44 days. Entertainment soldiers receive an average of 75 days, which is around 1.7 times more.

A spokesperson of the Defense Ministry explained that "There were two large scale performances given by Corporal Jung during the Yeosu Expo. He needed time to prepare for the performances. Also, when he needs to go far for a 'K-Force Special Show' performance, he sleeps over on location. Even if the location is closer, it is around midnight by the time he returns to Seoul.

In such cases, he sleeps at the Defense Agency for Public Information Services, and those days have totaled 19. Those instances were included in the number of Rain’s vacation days disclosed to the public (a total of 71 days including 17 vacation days, 10 overnight leaves based on individual performance, and 44 overnight stays for official duties)."

The spokesperson added that "A disciplinary committee is planned to be held regarding the issue of having gone on a personal date after military duties, and the failure to wear the military hat."

class="title"[opinion] From Stephe’s desk: Rain has been the object of a “witch-hunt” worthy of Salem.

by Stephe@ Cloud USA on January 5, 2013.

bi_20120409

The term “witch-hunt” has been used since the 1930s as a metaphor to describe the persecution and/or destruction of a person or group of people by mob mentality, particularly when the person or persons are condemned for either no true crime or minor infractions. So, as you can see, this is the best term in the dictionary to describe what has happened to R.O.K. Army Corporal Jung JiHoon (a.k.a Rain) since the first of the new year.

The many irresponsibly written and just plain bad articles that have been spread across the Internet concerning this young soldier/career entertainer have, as we understand it, inflamed South Korea’s “netizen” community to leave a petition of over 3,000 messages on the Republic of Korea’s military website, calling for everything from Rain’s head on a platter to prison to an entire repeat term of his mandatory service. And why is that, you ask? Was he caught smuggling South Korean secrets to the North? Running a black market for military weapons underground? Committing fraud by living at home for 15-months and not serving any of his time?

Nope.

After 5 months living in the dirt with the Infantry and 10 months of toiling away in entertainment while keeping up with his everyday basic duties, Rain is alleged to have grabbed three rides back to base with Kim Tae Hee and had his hat off once.

*crickets*

Yeah, that’s pretty hardcore.

Some discipline from his superiors that fits the infraction(s), I can see. “Netizens” hunting Rain down with torches and pitchforks as if the entire infrastructure of the country has been compromised is utter nonsense that makes South Korea look really bad.

Currently, we are preparing an official statement in the name of the "Rain Fan Club Cloud" to protest against the media coverage of this issue.

Unfortunately, we are unable to post and share the text of this statement with you immediately, because as I noted several times already in my response comments to the notification post, even the Ministry of Defense has been making conflicting announcements regarding the number of leave days in question, and the press media is churning out reports containing arbitrary interpretations based on uncertain data, and under such circumstances, if we issue a response that is inadvertently also based on inaccurate data, this will only exacerbate the confusion and this may risk lowering our credibility with members of Cloud as well.

Therefore, we refrain from sharing the statement too hastily, out of concern that it will be dismissed as yet another addition to the growing body of unreliable reading material.

Currently, it appears that there will not be any further changes to the text, but since additional unanticipated information is unfolding in regards to the 5th army division and vacations for soldiers in the Defense Agency for Public Information Services, we would like to wait until the final announcements are released from the Defense Ministry’s disciplinary committee, which has been delayed until next week, before we make the final edits to our text.

We ask for your patience, considering that we are in a position that compels us to be all the more careful and take all precautions before publicizing any statement.

I provide this link to a text which was posted today amid the frustrations, because I think it gives satisfactory expression to the position of Cloud’s members.

I encourage you to translate it into multiple languages if possible, and to disseminate it widely through Twitter, Facebook, etc.

On how the press media’s exaggeration of the number of leave days granted to Rain aggravates the public’switch hunt … and on the extreme pettiness of the controversy over the missing hat..

 88888888.jpg

daum_net_20130106_0051440.jpg

- An absurd calculation that indiscriminately counts required visits to the provinces for military performances as well as overnight practices in preparation for performance work at the Expo as vacation days!!!

Imagine how exasperated you would feel if you went away on a business trip for ten days to perform work for your company, and then you were told upon return, "Well, anyhow, you were away from the company so this means you were absent from work for ten days? Why have you been absent so much?" This is exactly the situation that Rain is facing at the moment in regards to the controversy about his military leaves.

Rain went to the provinces because he was ordered to give a performance, and he also dutifully stood on the Expo stage just as he was ordered. Since it’s the military we’re talking about, if you’re told to crawl, you crawl, and so it was that Rain went off to comply with his orders.

Such trips for military work included the 19 days Rain spent giving "K-Force Special Show" performances, and 25 days of his stage rehearsals and recordings for various events. Now, however, the press media bundles all these events together and refers to them as vacation days.

The media’s logic appears to be that just because Rain did not sleep in his own military base on those days, such overnight leaves should all be regarded as vacations regardless of whether he was away to perform his work duties. This is indeed an absurd argument.

What exactly is the number of days Rain received as actual vacation days over the courses of his service as a member of the Defense Agency for Public Information Services? In truth, it amounts only to 27 days.

The 27 days of vacation were exaggerated into a total of 71 days by the gossip mongering media by adding on trips made for military work. What an unreasonable calculation this is indeed!

[special News Report]"It is a distortion to claim that Rain used a total of 71 days for vacations and leaves" (Shin In Gyun) http://news.ichannela.com/politics/3/00/20130105/52072657/1

Representative Shin pointed out first of all that the 44 days of overnight leaves granted to Rain for military work duties should be subtracted from the total of 71 days discussed by the media.

Those 44 days include 25 days on which Rain was engaged in choreography rehearsals in preparation for the Yeosu Expo, and the 19 days on which he gave performances for the military’s "K-Force Special Show" program.

Representative Shin argued that"The 19 days on which Corporal Jung performed on the 'K-Force Special Show' should be regarded as work assignments rather than as personal overnight leaves. He went to the location to perform his duties just as in the case of expedition training, and therefore those days should be subtracted from the total in question."

It is a misperception to think that entertainment soldiers rest on days when they are not giving performances. When they are not scheduled for performances, they are without exception ordered to participate in military training. They complete physical training or the 30km march just like any other soldier. Does it seem likely that the budget-strapped Defense Ministry would give these entertainment soldiers free room and board just because no performances are scheduled?

-From an interview with 'Park Hyo Shin' from Kookbang Ilbo (National Defense Daily News) -

There are indeed very many occasions when we give performances all across the country. To begin with, there are 52 ‘K-Force Special Show’ programs scheduled for each year, and then there’s also support work to be performed for various events and radio program performances as well. Often, we go out to work at events even after not getting much sleep, trying to catch a few minutes of sleep on the bus on the way to the performance site, and when we open our eyes, we’re already at the performance site. We finish the performance and get back on the bus, trying again desperately to catch a bit of sleep, and we open our eyes and we’re already arrived at yet another performance site so we begin all over again ..

We frequently give performance out in the provinces, and since the performances end late in the evening, by the time we arrive back at our living quarters it is 1 or 2 in the morning, and the next day we are expected of course to follow the full schedule as usual.

It is not an easy assignment, since we are required to undertake various support work in addition to our basic duties, and we are also participate without exemption in all of the usual drills that ordinary soldiers complete, including mental training, basic military training, extreme cold weather training andintensive training.

- Furor over a hat regulation violation? Let’s think about this honestly …haven’t you ever seen your own boyfriend, brother, or friend not wearing the regulation military hat while on leave?

How about we now all turn into "hat paparazzi" whenever we meet a soldier on the street, whipping out our cameras to capture whether they are wearing their regulatory military hat? Although there may not be any reward, since it appears that it is our sacred civic duty to expose these soldiers without hats who are undermining the discipline of the army of our Republic and subject they to the furor of our criticism, shouldn’t we strive to fulfill our duties?

-Yeon-Hap News Interview with 'Im Tae Hoon', Director of the Center on Military Human Rights -

To begin with, I am against the decision to refer the issue to the disciplinary committee. The reason for this was that Rain was not wearing his hat when he was out on leave. If this violation is to be punished, than to be consistent all soldiers who walk with their hands in their pockets should also be punished. This type of punishment is wrong.

Regarding the criticism that Rain had private meetings while on leave for official work duties:

It is possible that a soldier may go to a convenience store, for example, or take care of a little bit of personal business at such times. Also, if a soldier’s home is in Seoul, it’s also conventionally considered possible that he might briefly meet with a friend. I think it’s excessively harsh to impose such regulations with absolute strictness (only in the case of Rain).

What shall we do now?

It appears that henceforth Korean soldiers will be told that all outside visits made for their military work will also be counted as vacation day, that soldiers will be the target of hat paparazzi if they should ever be caught without their hat or with their hands in their pockets and that even if their home is just across the street, that they must never, ever meet with a friend, their parents or their girlfriend while off base and must return the second they complete their work, and that if they choose to get a ride in their parents’ car on the way back to barracks, they will be referred to the military’s disciplinary committee.

How is this not absurd? 2013 has barely begun, and already we are witnessing a true farce.

[article][star News] The hardships of Rain, Yun GyeSang, and many exhausted entertainment soldiers then and now.
2013.01.07

eca095eca780ed9b8821

"The entertainment soldiers’duties consisted of participating in various events morning and evening as well as standing guard in the barracks, and they did not even get a chance to properly rest on holidays. Every holiday, they would be called upon to serve at this or that event. It is often the case that entertainment soldiers would be called upon to work for private affairs of the military officers." — Star News, on entertainment soldiers in 2005

"Above all, there are now too many tasks for which PR soldiers are mobilized. There has been an increase in the number of radio and TV military broadcasts, and they also need to appear in films and musicals, and the various scheduled events have multiplied manifold." — Star News, on entertainment soldiers present day

"It is true that Corporal 'Jung Ji Hoon' ought to be penalized for going on dates while he should have been on official military duty. However, the more serious problem is that the other systemic problems have not been addressed aside from the disciplinary action against the individual soldier." — Star News

Star News' findings on Rain in their article below are backed up by our own research on Rain's 2012 entertainment activities alone (those that have been made public, that is). For every dot on this calendar, we have a military assignment on a prepared 9-page schedule that can be sourced and corroborated by articles or images from the R.O.K. Army itself and the Media. That Rain did every one of these assignments on top of his continuous everyday training and numerous basic requirements and the unpublished military appearances he was given can be easily proven.

Rain has put his voice, body, and mind through the weekly and weekend rigors of what might as well be some year-long world concert tour. His health and preexisting conditions (back, skin disorder) have also suffered. After we global fans joined caring Korean citizens and his domestic fans in sending his superiors massive petitions of concern for him and all PR soldiers back in June, things slackened a little and some concessions were made, particularly concerning his radio show, but things never eased up in the way that they should have.

Being battered and bruised in the Infantry actually afforded him more regulated rest periods, at least.

Should there be PR soldiers? Absolutely, yes. The troops love having fellow soldiers who take the time to boost their morale, and they need it badly. But the system needs to be seriously retooled. And anyone who continues to think PR soldiers aren't worked to death at this point needs to educate themselves with a quickness.

[13-01-07][Osen] Rain Stayed in a Super Deluxe Hotel? -"He officially stayed with 49 other military staff members"

2013.01.07

credit:화니@rain-cloud.co.kr

hotel.jpg

While K-pop star Rain, who is currently serving in the military, is additionally reported to have stayed in the suite room of a five-star hotel after fulfilling an official military function, the military spokesman said that it wasn’t in violation of the related service rules.

In a telephone conversation with OSEN on Jan.7, the spokesman said "Rain stayed in the hotel as the accommodation was provided by the organizer of the functions and he stayed there with a total of 49 persons that consisted of 11 other "entertainment soldiers" and 26 military staff including the president for the Defense Media Agency.

The Defense Ministry stated on Jan.7 that the military PR team to which Rain also belongs stayed in the suite rooms of a five-star hotel after a military ceremony on Jeju Island last June. Rain and some entertainment soldiers including singer KCM, another celebrity corporal, were originally alleged to have stayed in the suite rooms and it turned out that other military staff including the soldiers belonging to the PR team also stayed together with them.

The military sources said "the business trip guidelines for the government employees state that the executives can be accompanied by their staff members on their official trip in case they have to stay out overnight, therefore his staying in the hotel wasn’t against the guidelines."

The results of the disciplinary meeting in relation to his alleged excessive number of days-off and the violations of the service rules are expected to be available on Jan 8.

Kim Tae Hee Goes on a Trip; Rain’s Violations Are Being Reviewed

Only a few days after her dating scandal became public, “Rain’s woman,” Kim Tae Hee, has gone on a trip to celebrate her father’s birthday.

On January 3, a representative of Kim Tae Hee revealed, “Kim Tae Hee has recently left for a trip to meet with her family for her father’s birthday…She has quietly left the country for the trip.”

2013 started in an uproar when it was revealed that the actress and singer Rain has been in a relationship for over a month. When it was discovered that the two met up at least once a week, there was controversy over whether Rain was receiving special celebrity treatment.

On January 3, an official of the Ministry of Defense said, “It is true that Rain made some discipline violations. Driving Kim Tae Hee’s car as a solider was a violation. Even though he left the base on official duty, coming back from a personal event is also a violation. Also, wearing the uniform without the hat is a violation. We will review these violations and announce his punishment next week.”

Rain’s fans need not to worry, for it was reported earlier that the singer’s punishment will most likely not be severe.

We will review these violations and announce his punishment next week.”

Rain’s fans need not to worry, for it was reported earlier that the singer’s punishment will most likely not be severe.

RAIN in hot waters after his stay at luxury hotels during service discovered

(willenette : )

Rain was found to have stayed at a royal suite room hotel costing $600/night after performing at an event sponsored by the KCTA last year.

The military explained that although they normally pay for off-base lodging (soldiers normally stay at motels), Rain stayed at the hotel because it was sponsored/paid for by the event hosts.

Investigations found several more cases where Rain and other celebrity soldiers either paid for or were sponsored stays at luxury hotels following off-base events.

Singer Rain who is currently serving the army, has been placed under probation.

On January 8, Ministry of National Defense placed celebrity soldier Rain who created a stir by violating the decree on military service, under seven-day probation.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, Rain did post-production editing three times: November 23, December 2 and 9 for a new song in Cheongdam. After the work was done, he met Kim Tae Hee in private and came back to the army in her car, violating the decree on military servie.

Besides the usual training and education, Rain who has been placed under seven day probation, will have time to reflect upon his mistakes instead of doing his regular duties. As for disciplinary actions, there are demotion of rank, confinement, restriction on a furlough and probation. The disciplinary action probation that Rain is under is the lowest level of action.

Previously on January 1, a media revealed that Rain who is serving the military is in a relationship with Kim Tae Hee. He has been captured riding Kim’s car and returning with a paper back in his hand. Therefore the vacation hours of Rain became an issue and created a stir.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------- class="entry-title"Rain given one-week probation2013-01-08
20130102_rain_holidays2.jpg The Ministry of National Defense has decided to give Rain a one-week probation. The global star has been in the news lately for issues concerning holidays and favorable treatment for celebrities in the military. He’ll be confined to the army base for one week of self-reflection. The Ministry of Defense stated, “After a decision by the disciplinary committee of his unit, Rain will be confined to his [barracks and the army base] for seven days of [self-reflection and introspection]… He violated regulations by having private meetings while on official duty.” After photos of Rain on a date with actress Kim Tae Hee surfaced online earlier this year, many messaged the ministry’s website calling for the star to be disciplined. Rain, who enlisted in mandatory military service on October 11, 2011, will return to civilian life this coming July.

As of now, with a sigh of relief, I hope we can move on and go back to normal. :)   Rain should have realized after this latest "scandal"  that a celebrity like him with such huge magnitude had little privacy and is always under scrutiny - the public is at all times watching, judging his every move. He must have learned his lessons and be more cautious in his future endeavors and life's challenges.  I've read that the probation starts today (Jan. 9) till 15Jan.

(LEAD) Singer Rain disciplined for dating during service

(ATTN: UPDATEDS with more details in paras 2-3; ADDS comments by vice minister from para 8)

SEOUL, Jan. 8 (Yonhap) -- A military disciplinary committee said Tuesday it has ordered K-pop star Rain to not leave his unit for one week, the lightest form of military discipline that can be administered, over dating a top TV actress while on official military duty.

The move comes after the 30-year-old singer, who was spotted dating actress Kim Tae-hee while he was on leave last month, faced strong backlash from the public over the special treatment of celebrities while they fulfill their mandatory military service. All able-bodied South Korean men are conscripted to serve roughly two years in the armed forces.
