EDIT { 05/26 }

Thanks to everyone who has responded

Most likely going to Montreal (yes I heard about some festival stuff going on for the celebration)

AND for around 3-4 days I believe.. ~

Does anyone know spas/hot springs type things there? T_T

AND to clarify, I'm 21 and my boyfriend is 19 so we're both old enough to club/drink^^

xthienanx: Could you tell me where the shopping mall is located ?

and recommendations for clubs/lounges perhaps*

AND one more question, are taxi's expensive?

Or is it really easy to get around Montreal with the subway

I don't want to get lost or anything ^^

------------------

Hi everyone,

I am planning on going to Quebec in the summer (?).

As for the specific location, probably Montreal/Quebec City area.

It's for probably about 3-5 days (approximately).

And I was thinking of early planning, so I was wondering;

if anyone from Quebec could tell me some good places to go to?

While I am there, I'd like to see as much as I can.

Most likely, I'll be taking the train or bus there so it takes 5-6 hrs

Than travelling around the city, I'll be taking the bus I guess (?).

These are my basic questions I'd like answers from

people located in Quebec or have been to Quebec:

* What are good places to shop (malls/outlets/boutiques) ?

* What are some good restaurants (not too pricey) to eat at ? (night dining/dessert places).

* Where would be nice to walk around (nice scenery) and good tourist beaches ?

* What are the major attractions that are must-see's when I visit ?

* What is the best way to travel around Quebec, I hear its the bus; information please! <3

* What are some good hotels that you could recommend?

* Are there local tours that we could take, that take us to various places within Quebec?

First time travelling alone (without family) there,

I'll be going with my boyfriend and I'm SUPER SUPER excited.

Thanks to all who respond <3

If you're going to Quebec city, there's not much to do there. Consider it as an old style city in the middle age time (a bit exaggerated but oh well).

If you're going to Montreal, now that's another story. :)

I don't know if you're going to Montreal or Quebec city so I won't elaborate (for now).

Nothing to do in Quebec city... Montreal is much better hehe

Montreal's Old-Port... festivals & fireworks during summertime

Montreal's Downtown Shopping Mall - 4 shopping malls linked underground... and more!

Montreal's Casino hehe =O (if legal = 18)

Montreal's Night Clubs =D (if legal = 18)

Montreal's Biodome (animals/plants ^-^ - 4 seasons)

You also have many many museums...

Montreal's Six Flags - La Ronde...

Shopping - Downtown + Carrefour Laval (a big mall like 15-20 min from Montreal)

Travelling - Buses & Subways =)

Restaurants - Many many good ones in downtown (ex. Baton Rouge, The Keg, 3 Amigos, Reuben's, etc.)

I dont know when you're going and how long you're staying but if you can what would be great is to go to the 400 of Quebec, where they will celebrate 400 yrs of the province/city blah blah im sure there will be plenty of event and concert and stuff

can't really help you with the spas part because i've never really been to one...

but as for the montreal transportation system, you can go to all the good places using the subway system, which is called the metro here. it's really easy to use. there is a map located at http://www.stm.info/metro/mapmetro.htm

if you wanna go shopping, stop at metro mcgill or peel, which are directly linked to the various underground shopping malls available downtown. of course you can also go outside, there are plenty of shops on st-catherine st. you can also go to metro st-laurent or mont-royal for various shops and other interesting places to see.

I went to Quebec City four years ago

* What are some good restaurant (not too pricey) to eat at ? (night dining/dessert places).

There's a (cheap) restaurant in downtown (D'youville or something like that).. they make crape. I forgot what's it's name though.. but it looks like bar. Do NOT eat at any asian restaurants. Not only are they expensive, but the food isn't very good. There's a really nice buffet restaurant that towers quebec city (it spins) It's some hotel I think, but it costs about $40 a lunch. For poutine, the locals recommended I eat it at the fast food restaurant, Ashton's or something that sounded like that

* Where would be nice to walk around (nice scenery) and good tourist beaches ?

beaches? didn't go to one. there's canoeing by the st. lawerence river and whale watching close by. There's a waterfall too..

* What are the major attractions that are must-see's when I visit ?

Check out the parliament, the chateau (forgot it's name but it's in the core of the city), D'youville is a must. It's a tourist trap. It's by "downtown". There are lots of European looking stores there...Even McDonalds look almost classy XD. Last time I went, there's a summer festival too. I would recommend buying a pass (you can watch a lot of shows - music, magic, acrobats)

* What is the best way to travel around Quebec, I hear its the bus; information please! <3

I take the metro (?).. bus. if you're going to be there for a while, i recommend buying a pass

* What are some good hotels that you could recommend?

I stayed at the university of Laval. it's cheap (i think it was something like $11/day) it's close to the bus (actually there are buses running there), and there's a mall close by. (depending where you are staying)

* Are there local tours that we could take, that take us to various places within Quebec?

probably... i just took the tour with my program
