Guest breathless.

I think my golden half is broken T_T just kidding, I know it's broken.

I'm going to the Philippines next week for a volunteer trip and I want to take a film camera. I'm so tempted to either buy a new golden half or buy a wide and slim. (I'm currently in Hong Kong).

Too... many... toy... cameras...

Hi everyone,

I'm a beginner aka a total noob. I was thinking of getting a Lomo LC-A+ but then I come here and people are recommending a Holga.

I know that a basic Holga starter kit could probably go for $70ish..and LC-A+ is $250.

Does anyone know the diff in quality and blah? Care to explain?

I would prefer 350mm film for my convenience and also for the sake of my wallet but...ARGHHH I DONTKNOW!

Suggestions?

d0ts will do ! i went out today but no luck finding the lomo slide at UO.. only redscale, 120 B&W, color negative & color.. i will go back in 2 days to see if they restock or if they even carry it..

anyone ever shot with lomo color negative 400 ? how is it ?

i'm sure it's pretty normal. i stupidly bought 3 packs of lomo colour negative 100...

my oktomat has no flash...so i have to use it in really bright settings.

^for the lomo color negative 100...it looks a little washed out.

not sure if its the same for 400 speed.

i desperately want slide film.

but 35mm slide is online only :[

link!

anyways..

has anyone bought/tried the holga instant back? or the holga 3d mounting frame?? <-from uo

how about the Ion Slide to PC converter

^link

i am so tempted to buy this...so i can just pay like 4$ to develop the negatives...or develop the b&w myself instead of paying flipping 10-12$ a roll for 4 x 6 prints and scan them individually and cropping them on my crappy scanner.

and instead just scan these babies so quickly...

i wish they had this for 120 as well TT ^ TT

or should i get a Canon CanoScan 8800F Color Film/Negative/Photo Scanner. It's an extra 100$ and you can scan 120 and 110...you just need a mask thingy?

help TT ^ TT

I havn't used the holga before but what from what I've seen it seems like a really great camera. However I definitely would recommend the lc-a. If you look on ebay, you can find better deals for Lomo cameras (the original ones too!). I bought mine for 150ish on ebay. I think maybe the only real downside of the Holga is the somewhat inconvenience of 120 film, and I think you may have to go to actual photo hobby places to get them developed? Both however create beautiful dreamy images so I think it really just depends on your own preference.

@breathless. - Beautiful shots ! I went to Urban Outfitters the other day, and I saw Goldenhalfs on sale for 30 bucks!

@d0ts: Ohhh, those shots makes me want to get a action sampler now T_T Why must I have such an expensive hobby?

Anyone interested purchasing a pretty much new (only brought out once taken half a roll of film with it) Diana+ ? Comes with 9 rolls of black&white 120 film (1 roll is already loaded on camera but unused), a diana photobook, and comes in the original packaging/box. Im letting it go for $60 SHIPPED USD total. (im whitelisted on soompi selling thread as well)

I just bought this camera a couple weeks ago and was pretty excited when it arrived but i dont quite like using 120 film and getting them processed is extremely difficult because there arent any actual photolabs nearby. I should've considered this before i bought the camera but anyway, im selling my diana so i can get a 35mm lomocam

PM me if anyone is interested. :)

strawberry.llamas: hey! have you gotten the ion slide to pc convertor? i heard there's bad reviews regarding it [though idk what comments they are], but there are also positive feedback too. so... i don't know. but i was thinking that the canoscan sounds like a great product. lots of raving comments about it over at another lomo forum that i frequent and i have been checking up on it since i kinda want one too. haha. it scans almost everything i believe, even those photos with sprockets. just have to do a little adjustments ourselves. the downside to it is that the for sprockets, one must use scotchtape or just get non-reflective glass to press upon it and make some manual adjustments to the exposure settings etc. and it can be pretty time consuming too. oh there's also a canoscan 8800F pool group on flickr.

haha can you send me a link of the canoscan thread from the other lomo forum?

i would be great to read some real reviews :P

eh it may be time consuming...but it'll be so much cheaper. With my crappy scanner/printer i have to manually upload ONE picture at a time!! The horror! Plus it had horrrible quality! :[

plus i have a feeling that the canoscan will pay it self off... Cuz it's like $12 to develop color negative and to get 24 4"x6" prints :[

if it was black and white i can do it myself at school :P

do you know how many megapixels the canoscan has? Cuz i heard the ion to pc converter was like 5 megapixels...

i'm not sure if that's pretty good or what ><

gah must save up for SCANNER AND FILM/CAMERA!

this hobby makes my wallet feel so light.... TT ^ TT

^ Montalban, near Payatas. It was heartbreaking-- kids literally live with mountains of trash.

the site is this: http://lomotion.20.forumer.com/index.php?s...1221ed536daac68 and just use the 'search' function near the top of the page, type in "canoscan 8800F", you will find lots of threads that talk about the film scanner. alternatively, you can just type in "film scanners" too, if you wanna read more about the other scanners also. hmm, one bad thing about such flatbed scanners i remember from reading the threads is that the quality of the photo is different from the labs' quality. probably because the photolabs use the better and more specialised film scanners... but yeah film scanners are so much more worth it, especially when i wanna scan photos with sprockets. and of course i will get more control too, with the colour adjustments etc.

breathless.: i really like the strong and vivid colours! what film did you use?
