Song Hye-kyo Continues to Promote Korean History Overseas

Actress Song Hye-kyo donated guidebooks to a memory hall for independence fighter Yun Bong-gil in Shanghai, China on Monday.

"Song and I offered 10,000 guides written in Korean and Chinese on Dec. 19 to mark the day Yun (1908-1932) died", said Seo Kyoung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women's University.

The guidebooks provide information about the memorial hall as well as the life of the independence fighter. Visitors can get it for free.

"Many Korean historical sites overseas still don't have guidebooks written in Korean. I hope they can help draw visitors", Song said.

Song and Seo have been working on similar projects to provide guidebooks to libraries and museums overseas including those in Chongqing, China, the Hague in the Netherlands and Los Angeles.

Jessi became Ra Mi Ran's personal makeover assistant on the April 22 airing of 'Unnies' Slam Dunk,' where the rapper tried her best to give her friend the ultimate makeover. 

Jessi was browsing online for ideas when she casually remarked that she thinks Song Hye Kyo is the prettiest woman in Korea. That's when Ra Mi Ran made a near impossible request, asking Jessi, "Then make me look like Song Hye Kyo." 

Thankfully, Ra Mi Ran was only joking and Jessi was spared from the task of embarking  on a mission to transform Ra Mi Ran into Song Hye Kyo.

‪it's just a joke in indonesia that gone viral. and its not only shk but all korean celebs even international celebs got their instagram comment box spammed with this. ‪ om telolet om roughly translates "Sir, honk the horn, sir!"  indonesian netizens are spamming other artists too for quite some time now. its like they want them to do this too.

Soompi Partners with Fuse for 12th Annual Soompi Awards, Aims to Shatter 40 Million Fan Votes Record

Globally Acclaimed Series 'Descendants of the Sun', 'Moonlight Drawn by Clouds' Lead K-Drama Category; 
JYP Entertainment's TWICE Leads in K-Pop

Soompi, the leading source for Korean pop culture news and fandom and a division of Viki, Inc., today announced the nominations for the 12^th Annual Soompi Awards. Until January 16, fans will be able to vote in 30 K-Drama and K-Pop categories with winners to be announced in February. Last year, the Soompi Awards generated an incredible 40 million votes on Soompi and on social media platforms like Twitter and LINE, underscoring the massive global fandom around Korean entertainment.

Fuse, the American music and entertainment network, is the exclusive media partner for the awards. Global powerhouse K-pop group Monsta X will be this year's MC for the K-Drama categories and Korean television personality Jota will be the MC for the K-Pop categories. Videos announcing the categories and the winners will be produced in collaboration with ZANYBROS, the leading video production house in Korea.
 
"Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" and "Descendants of the Sun" lead this year in the K-Drama category with 11 and 10 nominations, respectively. Girl group TWICE leads the K-Pop category with 8 nominations. Nominees are calculated based on Soompi's weekly music chart and an expert panel comprised of Soompi staff. Other categories include the sponsored "SPOTTOON Best Couple" in K-Drama, and the "Fuse Music Video of the Year" in K-Pop. Last year, Soompi Awards related hashtags trended worldwide on Twitter for over eight consecutive hours, with #TeamGOT7 coming out on top.
 
Since 2005, the Soompi Awards has been the platform for international fans to celebrate and honor the best in Korean entertainment. Last year's winners include Kim Soo-hyeon-I, BIGBANG, and more.
