And then she runs to him, even though she has no idea where he is, because he is her safety and because she knows that he would go to the end of the world to find her. And, of course, he does and Tae Eul, who’s been so strong until that moment, finally breaks down and begins to cry. They are so meant for each other, it’s unreal!
SpoilerAnd while most male leads would die for the love of their life, LEE GON KILLS FOR HIS. He slashes through anyone who keeps him away from Tae Eul and fights his way through to her. He’s so freaking desperate and livid and afraid to lose her because Lee Rim had taken his father from him, then his uncle and now, he’s trying to hurt the only woman he’s ever love and Lee Gon would have none it.

It makes so much sense that Lee Gon didn’t actually ask Tae Eul to marry him, or rather, that he didn’t pose his proposal as a question, since he’s never had to ask anyone for anything in the last 25 years. He has only ordered. However, he really did mean it as a question because if he didn’t he wouldn't be waiting for her answer. He wouldn’t sound as if his heart shattered when he fearfully wondered whether her answer meant a refusal. He knows it has to be her choice - he just hopes and prays that her choice will be him.
SpoilerAlso, how utterly perfect they look together?! All I want is for them to live happily ever after. Do I ask that much? Looking back at the writer’s OTP track record in her previous two dramas, Goblin and Mr. Sunshine, I suppose I do.

Tae Eul’s version of scandalous clearly isn’t the same as mine. Nor Lee Gon’s. If I were to have only one day left with the man who worships the ground I walk upon, treats me like a queen and looks like Lee Gon, I wouldn’t be satisfied with only holding his hand and few kisses to last me for the rest of my life. Payback sure is great but not if it cockblocks your love life.
SpoilerAlso, SHAMELESS LEE GON STRIKES BACK! He gets himself his first girlfriend at the ripe-old age of 32 - the result of haphephobia and serious trust issues caused by his childhood trauma - only for this to happen. The man has the self-control and endurance of a rock.
I love how Lee Gon tries to argue he wanted to be a gentleman when they were together in the palace and then, when he learns TE actually didn’t want him to be, he basically swears he will never be a gentleman again! Frankly, I don’t blame TE for having expectations back then after he snuck into her room through the window and kissed her on the very first night she spent there.

They wear bulletproof vests because they don't know who might shoot at them. They are riding on horses (horses are actually very suited for patrolling and safeguarding the city streets during riots) and fight with weapons for close combat because they know they will be fighting on the streets of a city. Shooting multiple guns on city streets, even though they might seem empty, is extremely dangerous - the battle ground is chaotic, there are so many people fighting, they could very easily kill their own men. Plus it's dark and there is fog so visibility is very low, For the eventuality that their enemies could carry guns, they have the S.W.A.T. sharpshooters/snipers as a backup. Therefore using batons is actually very sensible.

I take solace in the fact that if they wanted to kill JY, they wouldn't advertise it in the preview. The way I see it, based on where he's clutching his chest, the bullet must have missed his right lung which means he's going to live... probably. Besides, episode 12 is way too early to off one of your main characters, anyway.

I dig how the court officer is always ready to ship her king with whoever he loves and support his secret trysts and romantics getaways, even if they are a logistical nightmare for her which will one day lead her to an early grave.
SpoilerAlso the fact, the despite her wild imagination, Lee Gon always manages to shock her with the stories about his love life.
Well, suffice to say, he is in one hell of a long distance relationship.

Some criticism, the director is overusing the slow motion way too much. It makes some scenes cringeworthy and he uses the slow motion in every single romantic scene between the OTP and it's making such a disservice to them. They are great actors, very much capable of delivering complex emotions and they share incredible chemistry but the use of slow motion makes those romantic scene look unnatural and cheesy. Basically, since episode 1 whenever they are running or walking towards each other, or hugging or kissing, there is always slow motion. The slow motion is a technique which should be used very sparsely, in exceptional cases (for instance, the LR&LG confrontation in the snow was well-done) , but the TKEM PD is abusing it and it's dragging the drama and the OTP down. Everyone who reads my posts here knows how much I adore these two and ship them but I really have to say this.

They are so needy and desperate for each other it’s unreal!
Lee Gon basically steals his girlfriend’s clothes and accessories and wears them when he misses her so much he can’t bear it or feels sad, gaining strength and comfort from them.
SpoilerMeanwhile in another universe, Tae Eul is using blackmail to move into his temporary home and moons over a banknote with his face on it (seriously, this is one of those things that can happen only in a kdrama) and and her souvenir photo in royal robe. They are really two peas in the same pot because LG is watching a CCTV footage of her since they never got to take a picture together. They have it bad!

So swoony! If Tae Eul decides to leave everything behind and follow Lee Gon into his world, I won’t be surprised. He treats her like a queen and practically worships the ground she walks upon. With the way he’s been wooing her, he’s basically ruining her for any other man because no other man compare.
SpoilerLee Gon once told Yeong that he needed some fairy tales in his life. And Lee Gon is Tae Eul’s fairy tale. It seems almost inevitable that she would fall head-over-heels in love with him - after 5+ years in the violent crime unit, dealing with the worst of humanity, she’s jaded, cynical, no-nonsense and doesn’t trust people because she’s been listening to their lies all the time. It’s a completely natural and necessary defense mechanism in her line of work. There, she’s surrounded by men and to make it so far she must have been tough or even tougher than them and while they like her, they treat her like any other man, even SJ. Her mother died when she was a child and was brought up by a father, who loves her but because she’s so strong and capable doesn’t even notice she disappeared for a day.
Tae Eul is a fighter who eats what she likes, never wears skirts or heels and doesn’t use her feminity to gain advantage, which makes her the complete opposite of SR. Lee Gon manages to break through her inherent distrust with his honestly and kindness. He openly admires her courage and skills but at the same time he treats her like the most precious and beautiful woman on Earth and that’s not something she’s used to. He’s so unlike any other man she’s encountered and the fact that he truly likes her, rough edges and all, makes her fall more and more in love with him.
SpoilerShe wants to be loved like that - that is why she is missing him and pining for him with more and more desperation everytime he leaves. It feels fitting that a girl who used to watch detective shows instead of Snow White and The Little Mermaid falls in love with an actual fairy tale prince who rides on a white horse.

This was THE EPISODE I've been waiting for 8 episodes. This is everything I wanted TKEM to be from the start. The editing is finally top-notch, they reduced the unnecessary scenes and they finally making use of the amazing soundtrack. Usually, dramas suffer from using too much music, TKEM used too little but episode 9 rectified that. And finally, LMH and his character got the screen time they deserve and were overdue - LMH exhibited his full acting range and every scene in which LG appears is absolutely mesmerizing. We are finally getting to the LG&LR conflict and it's so thrilling. If episode 10 will be at least half as good as episode 9 I'll be a happy camper. I have had goosebumps from the moment the episode began until the final second! BRING IT ON!
