  2. There's some casting news for The King: The Eternal Monarch ! I posted this in the drama thread.

@CarolynH    I was also wondering what he is doing now.  It would be nice to see him with new CFs.  But honestly, I think I prefer he trains/prepares for his new drama now than work on new endorsements. I recall when he was shooting his 2 films, he said he wasn't able to put as much time / effort as he wanted in training because of his other obligations. He even had to travel with his trainer. I thought he was too skinny in LOTBS, altho the look fit HJJ character.  I am hoping he gains a little weight and gives us a different look for the new drama.

[Dedicated] Udo-hwan, Kim Eun-sook's new man .. 'Ducking' cast

    0000515586_001_20190603072318864.jpg?typ

[Sports Sasung Kyung Kyoung reporter] The actor Woo Do-hwan was selected for a new work by Kim Eun-sook.

Woo Do-hwan is scheduled to be released in the first half of next year, and Kim Eun-sook's new drama 'The King: Eternity Monarch' (hereafter The King) is on the verge of appearing. According to a plurality of broadcasting officials, Udo Dang was selected as Jo Eun-seop of 'Ducking' and is in close coordination with the drama producer regarding casting. It was reported that he had a recent meeting and discussed the act positively.

If Woo Do-Hwan confirms casting, he will be named as the main character after actor Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun in 'The King' which is considered as the best anticipated work of next year. In addition, Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun worked together with Kim Eun Sook once in a row, but Woo Do Hwan is the first to focus attention. Above all, in the drama of Kim Eun-sook, the so-called "sub-men" actors are enjoying the popularity of the peak, so the expectation of Udo Han also increases.

Especially, Cho Eun-sup, who was offered by Woo Do-hwan, seems to be an ordinary social worker, but in another world, he is a guardian of Emperor Yi-gon (Lee Min-ho). 'The King' is the emperor emperor of the imperial emperor Lee Min-ho who is trying to close the door of the dimension against the demon and the Korean penal servant Jung Tae who is trying to protect someone's life, Kim Go-eun) is a fantasy drama drawing a different romance through cooperation of. It is expected that it will be able to boast of various charms by playing a role as a one-person two-

Meanwhile, Udo has been active in the anime theater with his debut as a man living in KBS2 in 2016, OCN 'Rescue' (2017), KBS2 'Mad Dog' (2017) and MBC 'Great Tempter' (2018). He appeared in the movie 'Master' (2016) and will be released this summer.

Currently, JTBC 'My Country' is scheduled to be broadcasted in September.

Goblin's Kim Go-Eun is Confirmed to Star Opposite Lee Min-Ho in New Drama

by HANAN HADDAD | Thu., 23 May. 2019 3:10 AM

Since his recent discharge from mandatory military service, 31-year-old Lee Min-Ho is jumping right back into work.

Details of his upcoming drama are being released slowly and it looks like things are coming along nicely for the Boys Over Flowers star. Recently, it has been confirmed by Studio Dragon Corporation, a South Korean drama production company under CJ Entertainment, that 28-year-old actress Kim Go-Eun will be starring opposite Lee.

Kim is most known for her starring role in the mega hit K-drama, Goblin, alongside Gong Yoo. Studio Dragon Corporation, the production house of the new drama titled The King: Forever the Monarch, stated that Kim's incredible acting in Goblin was one of the many reasons they casted her as the lead.

The King: Forever the Monarch revolves around the idea of parallel worlds whereby a door to an alternate universe opens when god set devil free in the human world. Due to multiple worlds being involved, the production house was looking for an actress with great character versatility.

"Acting for extreme characters like a detective and criminal is not an easy task. Looking at the way she interpreted characters in various films and the natural acting she showed in the growth of a girl to a woman in Goblin, we judged that if it were the broad acting skills of Kim Go-Eun, she'd be able to successfully take on Jeong Tae-Eul and Luna's double role," stated Studio Dragon Corporation.

They elaborated further by saying, "The King: Forever the Monarch represents a fantasy romance drama that crosses in between the parallel worlds of South Korea and the Korean Empire and Kim Go-Eun will challenge herself to a double role with a South Korean detective, Jeong Tae-Eul, and a character called Luna, who lives a low life as a criminal of the Korean Empire."

With the leads secured, filming is expected to commence in the latter half of 2019 and we can estimate the drama to air during the first half of 2020.

All The Details You Need To Know About Lee Min-Ho's Comeback Drama

For those of you who can't wait to see Korean actor Lee Min-hoback on your screens, it may come sooner than you think.

Lee is wasting no time after his military discharge and is heading straight back to work with a new drama that will air sometime in the first half of 2020. Produced by Hwa&Dam Pictures, who also made hit TV series such as Goblin in 2016 and Heirs in 2013, the new drama will take on the theme of parallel worlds.

Korean news site soompi reports that the drama will feature two storylines: One involving a Korean monarch who seeks to keep his kingdom closed to foreign influence, and another that involves a detective of the Republic of Korea who wants to protect his loved ones.

he team behind the production is also an experienced one — the drama counts Baek Sang-hoon as its director, and Kim Eun-sook as the main writer. Baek is an experienced director who has previously directed two of 2016's most notable K-dramas: Descendants of the Sun and Love in the Moonlight. Meanwhile, Kim has worked with Lee before for Heirs in 2013, among other works that she has written.

Speaking about the production, a representative for Hwa&Dam Pictures mentioned that the filming for the show would begin in the second half of 2019, before its release next year.

  7. According to Asian Wiki LMH will play both King and detective. I hope this is true.

    http://asianwiki.com/The_King:_Monarch_of_Eternity

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki Staff ©

The Devil is released into the human world and soon opens a door into a parallel world. The Devil asks if he lived a better life in the other world, if he could live in the other world. Against the Devil's question, Korean Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min-Ho) tries to close the door to the parallel world and South Korean Detective Jung Tae-Eul (Lee Min-Ho) tries to protect the lives of people and the person he loves.

Also read in twitter from acct @sabss_XD that weibo article says: The demon which was unleashed into the world opened the doors to parallel universes. The demon posed this question "If the other "you" in the parallel world is living a better and happier life, would you then choose to exchange your life with your other self." This drama depicts the choices to be made by the "science" type King who wishes to close the doors vs the "arts" type police officer who wishes to protect lives, his friends and love and how they deal with the demon's question. Both of them will straddle between both worlds as they help one another.

Hi syntyche, thanks for sharing this good news! It means that his comeback project will be historical genre, a sageuk one. As much as I don't really dig this kind of genre, but I will always support LMH all the way! :P

Thanks @syntyche  for creating the drama thread. We just have to make sure we update it to keep it on the first page.

    Article says

It’s a drama that tackles the subject of parallel worlds. In one world, the emperor of the Korean empire seeks to keep the doors closed, while in the other, a detective of the Republic of Korea seeks to protect his life and the people he loves.

So it would be pretty similar to Legend of the Blue Sea with sageuk scenes and also scenes in the modern setting. The question is, will Lee Min Ho portray a dual role —  the Emperor in the sageuk part of the drama and the detective ? Or will one of the roles be played by a different actor?

  10. Lee Min Ho Reunites With Writer Kim Eun Sook For His Comeback Drama

    He is back.

Actor Lee Min Ho has been confirmed for his comeback drama, and it will reunite him with writer Kim Eun Sook, who was also the writer for SBS‘s mega hit drama The Heirs.

    https://www.koreaboo.com/news/lee-min-ho-reunites-writer-kim-eun-sook-comeback-drama/

Kim Eun Sook’s newest work will be called The King: Forever the Monarchand is set to be broadcast in the first half of 2020.

Hwa&Dam Pictures, which is also Kim Eun Sook’s agency, shared why they cast Lee Min Ho for their new drama.
This is the second time we will be working together, after The Heirs. He is an actor we have so much trust in. You will be able to meet a more mature and profound Lee Min Ho through The King: Forever the Monarch.

    — Hwa&Dam Pictures
The King: Forever the Monarch will deal with the idea of parallel worlds, an idea that is rarely seen in dramas today. A God set a devil free in the human world, which opened up a door to the parallel world.

The specifics regarding broadcast, such as the airing channel and broadcast date have not been decided yet. However, since the production team and the male lead have been determined, filming is set to begin in the second half of 2019.

It’s so refreshing to read your reviews as a newbie, @syntyche .  Although KT was my least favorite LMH character (i didn’t see any growth and prefer LMH in mature roles, esp. action dramas), I think I’ve rewatched Heirs at least 5x! LOL. He didn’t work on LOTBS until 3 years later so the long wait had me rewatching all his dramas, esp The Heirs bec it was his latest one that time. The 2 hour films (GB and BH) just don’t satisfy me... I need 20 hours of our bbboy.! And now, I couldn’t count how many time I’ve rewatched LOTBS. Hopefully, he does a new drama soon... preferably 24 episodes like Faith.   :)

    CITY HUNTER Episode 17

      Recap from Dramabeans:   http://www.dramabeans.com/2011/07/city-hunter-episode-17/

The episode focuses on the prosecutor trying to out the identity of City Hunter, Jun Pyo dealing with his target # 4 to carry out his revenge, and hints about the birth secret of our lead -- lots of action, but less romance-- I miss our sweet couple.

I totally enjoyed City Hunter the first time I watched it and I remember how impressed I was with the whole drama, how well written and well directed it was, very different from the first dramas I watched (i.e. Coffee Prince and BOF where a lot of episodes / scenes were just fillers that were not relevant to the story). But now that I am rewatching, I do mind how little air time was given for our OTP's romance towards the last few episodes. I  understand the writer has to tell the story of CIty Hunter, Jun Pyo and the President but how I wish there was more romance and more time to resolve the relationship between Kim Nana and Lee Yoon Sung.

I realise that probably no one visits this thread anymore which is understandable as the show finished so long ago BUT nevertheless I have to leave my mark here! I just finished watching City Hunter last week for the first time and totally fell in love with it! The action, the mystery, the romance, the OTP & OST - all amazing!  And how adorable was the bromance between YS and Ajusshi! So heartwarming! Even if the show wasn't perfect I don't care. I liked it immensely.

I have only seen Lee Min Ho in Faith before (which I really enjoyed) BUT it wasn't until I saw him in City Hunter that I finally understood what all the fuss was about and why he is so popular.  He was fantastic in it.  The PD brought out the best in him here.

It's one of those dramas that will always have a special place in my heart.

Thanks @leeminhosny for all these cute gifs - when I looked at he earlier pages of this thread a lot of the links and pics don't work anymore so it was a treat for me to see these ones! As somebody once said here "this show deserves to be gifed!".

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. This is the drama that brought me to kdrama addiction and also made me into a LMH fan. It is still my no. 1 favorite drama.

    CITY HUNTER EPISODE 11

    Read recap from Dramabeans here:

    http://www.dramabeans.com/2011/06/city-hunter-episode-11/

This is such an exciting episode, showing lots of tension and angst between LYS and Nana. LYS had to be cold to Nana and make her hate and forget him, just to protect her from evil Dad. Twice he pushed her against the wall in anger -- and in both scenes, I found their chemistry so hot.

Jun-pyo becomes even more evil, using Nana and mom to manipulate LJS and force him to do what he wants.  Appa actor is so good, and he brings so much to the character, that you end up hating him.

The ending is a such a nail-biter, OMG -- Nana took the bullet for LSY !  So similar to LOTBS when mermaid took the bullet to protect HJJ.   Lots of good action scenes here and great acting, especially from our boy.

I like what GF from db said:      I’m consistently impressed with Lee Min-ho‘s acting, but the last ten minutes of this episode just blew me away. He went from animalistic rage to the most vulnerable heartbreak in just one scene, which totally floored me. He owes a lot to the director, of course, who is now officially my favorite k-drama PD ever, because I can feel the character beats viscerally in every scene.

I agree, this director brings out the best in LMH's acting and characters which is why CH and LOTBS are my faves. Hopefully he gets to direct him again after MS.
