I have also finished watching Ep.13 and as I wait for full subs for EP 14 this is my view on the couples and where the story is going. As predicted this story has turned intense and somewhat dark. Each couple represents a side of love. Pk and Bo-Ra are the sweet innocent couple if a demon and zombie can be considered innocent. Pk wants only the best for her. He refuses to believe that she is completely gone and search for her mother to keep a promise and to keep faith with the love he has for her. Bo-Ra still exists deep inside and it is her kind pure heart that keeps holding on and surfacing every time PK is around. Woo Whee our bull brings that stubborn bull like refusal to accept anything that stands in the way of love to his couple relationship. But it is this blindsided view that has caused all the problems for him and the love of his life. Each refused to except anything but what they wanted and so their blindness to what is and their subsequent acts have caused all their pain. Finally, it is the Son O-Gong /Jin Sun-Mi couple that has the potential for the most growth and also the most heartbreaking outcome. Each started out wanting to protect who and what they were. Sun-Mi was afraid of giving too much and losing too much. She has spent most of her life wish for what she didn't have and giving no value to what she did have. Son O-Gong cared only about what he wanted and his monkey nature made him reach only for what was fun and easy. Given their nature, it would seem impossible for these two to ever become a true couple. But each took a chance on trying to feel real love for someone else and each has grown. Now at this point, they represent the deepest, truest form of love, a love that is selfless. Each is trying to protect the other and each is will to give up their very lives for the other. It's hard to predict a happy ending for them with so much sacrifice in the name of love waiting ahead in the storyline. So our story turns for a light-hearted romp into so much more. It has become a story that turns on the true meaning of real love for another.

After this last episode, I feel like we are at the top of a rollercoaster heading down a steep dip. All we can do is put up our hands and let go. So much has been set up. At last a real kiss but there is that bell of death so much trouble ahead for our monkey king and his girl. As for PK and the oh so cute Zombie, they have become one of my favorite couples but It will be a rough ride ahead for them as well. She is so close to turning into an evil spirit and Pk will do anything to save her. That means that unless something changes their fate, their love is doomed and that makes me so sad. At this point, it's hard to even see a real way to happy endings for all of them and we are only halfway. I love this drama but it is getting so intense and I want just a little happy Hong Sisters.

I agree also I predict this will prove to be important in the future as the older women is connected to the presidential candidate. Their family history shows a willingness to betray their country. Also, her emotions were so strong it created a demon who was ready to kill anyone who knows their family history. One has to question just how far a member of this family will go to rule and keep their position of power.

loving the otp development . the last drama i watched the female lead had no clue she was in love or the man was in love with her . here sunmi knows she’s falling head over heels , she owns her own feelings and tackles in head on . since oh gongs love is fake she don’t want none of it . so refreshing .
and oh gong is not human . so we can’t compare him usual k drama a.holes. he’s a monkey king who has sinned so much to be expelled from heaven and to be held captive for 500 years . so him tricking mawang is nothing and fits well naturaly with his charactor . and it was epic . i didn’t see it coming , now mawang will share oh gongs pain z
I think we need to pay attention to these little back stories as they will prove to be the key to the destruction of the world. Even though we don't know who the presidential candidate is we know that he comes from a line of disloyal family members who sold out their country; We also know that the zombie girl is connected to him as well. When she regains her memory she may prove helpful. We also know by the fact that monkey destroyed the entire film world that when Sun-mi was hurt that he will pose a threat to this world should Sun-mi get hurt again. Look at how he paid the bull king back when he realized that not only was he in pain from the bracelet but so was Sun-mi. Being the demon that he is his anger is more than dangerous it could prove to be apocalyptic. Right know the Hong sister have put in lots of funny moments like the bed scene but I predict that knowing their style it will get heavier as we go along so get your tissue box ready. We are in for tears.

Me too I That's why I usually wait for the drama to end and all episodes are subbed but with this one and all the stars I just couldn't wait so here I sit.
On another note. Thanks for posting the plot of the original story but knowing the Hong Sisters I wouldn't count on them following the plot or even its' many different turns. They usually give their drama's a different feel and they like to surprise people. That was true in Master's Sun and I think it will be true here. They may kill off or seem to kill off major characters. They like to make you laugh and then cry all in the same episode. The pig, and other secondary characters are funny but I can already see the set up for tears. There is the threat of war, the loss of a true love, lots of dangerous trials for our main couple and so much more coming. So for those of you who know the story on which most of the characters are based, I think you will be disappointed if you are counting on the Hongs staying with that storyline. While they may take ideas from the original they will definitely create something that can stand as a drama on its own. Just roll with what is to come and have fun

Given Sam Jo's mission, I think that the Zombie Girl may have heard something she should not know that is political. Maybe the Guy who wants to be president has something to do with starting a war and Zombie Girl will be the key to solving what needs to be stopped to save the world.

I agree that his declaration was brutal but from this standpoint honest. He sees himself above humans so above such emotions like simple love. He is in for a rude awaking. I think that Sam Ja is here to teach him a lesson about the importance of love and like you, I think that the bracelet will only bind feelings that are hidden deep in the heart because how can it bind something that was never there. As for Sam Ja's mission, it hits a little closer to real life with the political situation between the North and the South. This story is just getting better and better

like all of you, I hope we get to see the show this weekend. I think that this show has great promise and it would be a shame if it is stopped because of problems with how the work environment is managed. It is important to hold the right people responsible for any work safety issues but if production is stopped everyone will suffer and lose. The company will, however, be just fine it's the actors, production crew, and writers who will be out of a job. Unsafe conditions and overworking actors, crew, and production people are not new in the Korean entertainment world. When Lee Hongki worked on "Bride of the Century" he slipped or fell and injured his face. It was very serious and delayed productions for quite a while. At the time there was a lot of talk about how and why he fell and some thought that the facts were covered up. Also in the past performers have been very overworked, almost to the point of exhaustion. Some have had to be admitted to the hospital so unsafe and dangerous conditions are not a new thing. The best that could happen is that fans and performers start to speak up and demand better conditions. If that happened then maybe everyone would be safer and we could all still enjoy dramas without the fear that people are hurt while making the shows we all want to see.

love love what I have seen so far. I will say again I think it is pointless to compare this drama to any that came before. If people want it to be a rehash of Journey of the West I think they will be disappointed. The Hong sisters have their own style of writing and if you love their quirky, funny, dramatic style then I predict we will be in for quite a ride. They tend to give their plots a lot of twist and turns. Master Sun had me laughing and then crying. The
way they are setting up this story will be the same I think. Lee Hongki' PK (pig) character is cute and just the right mix of sexy silly to give us a break from the scary stuff. I am going to go out on a limb and say that the romance between Son Oh-gong and Jin Sun-mi is not a done deal. I think that Son Oh-gong will fight his growing feelings especially if he gets that bracelet off and while Jin Sun-mi may feel interested she does not trust him, after all, she has had 25 years to remember how he ticked her. There is also a few demons standing in their way as well as a determined Bull demon king who will cause problems. As for the previews, I can't wait for another of my to die for idol actors to do a cameo in Ep 3. Jang Geun Seok is such a hottie and he is sure to stir things up when he guest in the next episode. I am just going to sit back and enjoy what is to come and leave all the comparisons aside

I agree with you, that is Cha Seung's style and it kind of fits the Character that we are watching. He sees himself as being the best and all others are not as good. This Character is the type who will hate someone else getting the better of him or getting more attention then him. I think that it makes what could be a very scary story, just a touch lighter so someone like me who doesn't like real horror shows can watch and love the storyline. Just where it gets a little too scary they make me laugh.After watching ep 2 with only 70% subs I am loving it. The drama makes me laugh (love Lee Hongki's character, just a touch goofy, very cute and loveable that reminds me of his Jermey character). I am also already into the chemistry between Son Oh-gong and Jin Sun-m, and I can't wait to see where this little love story will go. My only downer is that we may have to wait for ep 3&4 but I want to get the production issues right because that stuff can take away from the hard work of this great cast.

Like you I just watched the show on Viki and enjoyed it. I think this show has promise, and it reminds me of the style of “Master Sun” rather than “Bride of the Water Goblin”. For me, that is a plus because I lost interest in water goblin. I also don’t know the legend from where the story comes so again I don’t have a preconceived idea of what will happen. That is a good thing because I am judging it on its own merits. I like that it is different and that there is a supernatural bent to it. I like that there will be action and surprises. That keeps me wanting to come back. The start is a little slow but that is to be expected as they need to set up the characters and rules under which these characters have to operate. Again I think they are doing a good job of that and it is important to establish the rules of the story for it to make sense later. For those who are tempted to compare it to other stories or see it as a remake/ retelling of the Chinese legend, I would advise against that. In the end, this drama needs to make its own case and stand on its own merits as a good story. I watch dramas from Thailand, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Korea and one thing I have learned is that sometimes remakes and retellings made in a different country end up being better than the original. For me, that was true for the Thai remake of “Full House’, The Korean remakes of “It started with a kiss” and “Boys over Flowers”. I can’t wait for episode 2 and how the story will power ahead. I love the main actors and can’t wait of Lee Hongki’s character to appear in more than a concert scene ( the concert scene we saw is a real FT Island performance using one of their songs that I love). I see lots of fun ahead for all of us.

hi glad to join this thread. I am a big fan of Lee Hongki and can't wait to see him act in something after so long. The cherry on the top of this drama or should I say 2 cherries are that two of my other favorites are also in this as well. Like others, I loved Lee Seung Gi in King 2 hearts and several of his other dramas. One of my first k dramas was "The Greatest Love" and that began my love for the actor Cha Seung Won. I have watched him in several other dramas and when it comes to a comedic quirky hot love interest no one does it better than him so I have hi hopes for this one. I am not familiar with the C drama but hope those of you who say it looks like the Hong sisters have made changes to the plot are right. I hope for a fun time and a happy ending. C dramas especially costume ones tend to have incomplete or tragic endings so I am hoping the Hong sisters do a better job. Thanks for all the news and updates. After having nothing to watch in the K drama world that interests me for a while, I can't wait for this one to begin.

hello all I am just a guest on this thread as I ship another couple from the producer of this show. I have watched your couple and they interested me because they also seem so real. As a 2 year shipper of another couple all I can say is you are entering a very difficult time when you will miss them greatly and long to see them in public. There will be rumors and people who make fun of you by calling you delusional, stay strong and just have fun. If you believe in your ship don't let others upset you or tell you you are wrong. I watched this couple because they were sweet and because they seem to work at having a relationship. Yes some stuff is scripted but there are things that you just can't fake and this couple has elements of real emotions. Enjoy your last looks at the couple together and don't worry about what is real and what is reel because time will tell. Good luck and stay strong.

I am not sure who to address this issue to but some of the people from the Hongki/ Mina couples thread are a little upset by the off topic button that is on our post in the 2nd round. Our team as well as members of our thread have worked very hard over the last several day to put up our post and seeing the off topic button as part of our votes saddens us. @bebebisous33 I think that while PK calls BJ little brother their relationship is not the same as General Winter and the Summer Fairy. Those two are brother and sister, you can see it in the way they interact. They have a sibling kind of vibe. It is more matter of fact in their sibling kind of understanding of each other. PK and BJ have a different feel. There is a chemistry there that is not brotherly. I think that PK calls BJ brother because he does have feelings for her but given that he has always been a love and leave them type of playboy he does not know how to recognize a real love or even what to do with how that he feels it. Calling her brother is a way to distance himself from his emotions. But, no matter how he tries to redefine his feelings he still wants to take care of her, protect her and in the end love her even if it means destroying her. Because she was young and innocent and he is young in understanding real emotional romantic love, both treat each other in that delightful crush kind of way. That is what made them so cute to watch in the beginning.
