  1. the OTP scenes are not only funny but weird. its so weird that even characters in the drama think it is bizarre.

SY does not understand why MH would invite YJ and have a drink with her. their interactions are not spewing with venom, instead its almost like they are a man and woman. as SY points out, first it is surgery for her father and now, the bakery loan. if we think about it from her perspective, it is strange. why would these two interact unless as SY points out that if YJ is shameless. because YJ is Ji Hee's killer according to MH...

even for DH, it is weird. if I was a maid in MH's house and watching YJ being dragged by MH, I would never guess at their true relationship. since I re-watched that scene several times, I noticed something rather interesting -- YJ actually does not try to really break his hold on her hand by pulling her hand away -- which is what you would normally do; instead, she puts her hand on his forearm to kind of stop him from walking, to listen to her. he instead keeps walking and they keep chatting. the way they chat -- from an outsider perspective, it would look like they are in a kind of relationship. also, he is not holding her hands aggressively -- as in, she is holding his back and so its not like she is just passive. when she sees DH, it takes her a good while to realize that she is still holding MH's hands. when MH walks away with her, there is almost no resistance from her till they are in the bar.

whereas when DH comes to take her, he puts his hand on her arm and when she walks, she is almost stumbling to keep up -- so a more classical scene with him dragging here...

the board room scene was hilarious and even more so because YJ answers his call in a very hopeful, sing-song voice. if it is just business and this is the man's whose girlfriend you ran over and now owe a huge debt to, why would you answer his call with such optimism? for any member of the board who were sitting there, they would have automatically thought this was some girlfriend who was calling him.. same with the taxi scene where he falls asleep on her lap, if you were the taxi driver, what would you assume?

so while MH has never even eaten a meal with SY, he has already had breakfast and some coffee from YJ..

while these are great OTP scenes, it is still a tad strange for both of them; at least with MH, we know that he is obsessed and stalking her -- that is pretty much open. but what is going on with YJ?

  2. okay, I figured out why that leopard/music note dress pic looked strange to me --- just the previous day, she posted pics of herself from her trip to that sun/moon lake with her family. then the next day, these pics show up -- hence the difference. instead of a gradual weight gain which people won't notice, it looked kind of dramatic... maybe she was just being bloated and having some water retention like it happens for lot of women because you know....

  3. @biruangel -- so the song is called winter games? I thought it was the name of the magazine they were appearing in.. hee hee... but so much fashion shoots for one song? and if the song is called winter games, why are they dressed in black leather? I am not sure if black leather is appropriate wear for winter in the first place.. isn't it more like fall weather?

Remember me, @angelangie?  I'm "trained" to argue either way. :)  Let's use this a trolling lesson, part 2, shall we?
But this is my proof #1, @BiruAngel's statement. {GASP!}  Her words:
<Edited to add:  But then Taec is a very focus person, when he's doing something, he will give his undivided attention to it.  So it's very rare that he will tweet when he's at work! >

I say: A romantic person does something that ordinarily he wouldn't think of doing, just to show you that he cares. He'll tweet you even when he's busy.
What say you? How do you counter that?

We know that DH's mother "lost" a daughter. What if she actually faked the baby's death and gave her away because she didn't have the money to raise her? She didn't seem all too cut up about it when she was telling YJ. Maybe the second wife lost her child and was desperate to have one to hold on to her place in MH's family. So she bought the baby from DH's mom and passed it off as her own. Obviously this is a ridiculous scenario, but we are talking about makjang K-Drama here -- anything is possible! And what is a melodrama without some birth secrets ;)

Through discovering the half sister's connection to DH's family, that might lead YJ to finding San. If that horrible mother did it once, she can do it again. Just a thought. A crazy, improbable thought...

I just like that she is no non sense when talking to MH that he is being obsessive over YJ when it's his fault.. And I felt sorry for her when MH just left when she was about to confess. AND the person I'll feel most sorry for is MH whose only 'friend' would become evil..

actually my thoughts is pretty simple, that pictures was taken after her friend wedding where she is a bridesmaid, so naturally seeing seeing her friend so happily married, she will wish for one for herself :) happen to some of my friends too :)

Translation: Dont really need one...dream of one is enough....

does anyone know if there are any superstitions/beliefs about rings in korea? while I get that it is foreshadowing that YJ received MH's ring and wore that ring first, are there any traditional beliefs about rings/diamonds? I don't know about other places but in my land, there is this idea that one must be careful with stones especially diamonds because not all the stones will bring good luck to the wearer. some are thought to bring bad luck. from that point of view if you see, after wearing DH's ring, she ends up in an accident, jail, losing her child etc... now that the ring has been returned to DH, will her fortunes change for the better?
  9. @cynkdf @creslin and others who have said they liked my comments, HUGS!!!
honestly, I was a bit wary of watching this drama since it was being branded as nice guy and I thought that was a stupid drama which I clocked out after the first few episodes. but I am really liking secret. the writer even though new seems to have a clear outline and is not making stuff up because they ran out of ideas. always easy to have a great discussion when there is good writing and acting. if people are looking for another great melo, would recommend watching scandal with Kim Jae Won. there are 4 more episodes left till it ends but it has some seriously awesome acting chops being displayed...

  10. hnin wintnaing said: Thoughtful note about the ring. I heard one of the myths concerned with the ring. "The ring may go to its rightful owner." In this case, I believe, it is YJ's destiny to wear it, possess it and appreciate it.
I also heard of the ring may protect who wears it. I think, in this case, the ring helps YJ find her guidance angel, MH, who will protect her and help her in any later situations battled up with SY and DH. :-) Therefore, the symbolic meaning of the ring that the writer tried to portray does tell a very good story and I am literally amazed at the analytical thinking of @Lmangla.

  12. @b8l8 -- don't tell me that either taec or guigui's ppl snoop in our thread once in a while and get ideas?!
but @packmule3 the wise said it was unlikely they would know about our little corner in cyberspace... I hope that is true because it would be rather embarrassing considering some of the conversations that went on in this thread... hee hee...
    =))

  13. another thought struck me -- the sunbae tells DH that he knows how what DH did to get that evidence which made him rise as a prosecutor.. wondering how much does he know.  did other parole members chat about how MH tried to bribe them but they weren't interested. did they wonder if DH bought it and hence his meteoric rise? is it like an open secret in the prosecutor community that DH must have done something in exchange for that evidence? it seems like other prosecutors are not too impressed with DH anyway.... which means that there are probably all sort of rumours floating around no?

  14. was thinking about this drama and thought of an interesting parallel. in some ways, MH and YJ are quite similar in that they both have taken on guilt and they don't run away from it. instead they confront it head on. so in MH's case -- he feels guilty that he didn't take of Ji Hee and his baby. so he is trying to sort of atone for that sin by taking punishment on YJ. in her case, she takes on the guilt for DH; it is obvious that while he is sorry, he does not feel remorse. if he did, he would feel the need to repent for the life he took. whereas, YJ is aware that regardless of who drove, there was a life lost and she feels the need to do a penitence for it. she feels guilty.

DH and SY are also quite similar. they both seem kind of angry with their life when outwardly, they seem to be quite blessed. DH was a prosecutor who was climbing up. SY is a society butterfly. so what should they be angry about? yet they both act like somehow they have been cheated out of something -- what is that? love? respect? -- and hence, the kindred spirit kind of connection. SY is angry that she is not loved -- DH tells her that instead of crying who does not love her, she should cry for someone who does. DH is maybe hungry for respect and realization of his ideals. he does not have the moral fortitude to realize his ideal for fighting for justice but wants to pretend that he still has them. hence his anger at MH who makes him feel like a worm every single time. as DH's sunbae points out (and others in the thread), DH is willing to cut corners and do all sorts of stuff but acts self-righteous...

so MH and YJ are kindred spirits, and so are DH and SY. so will they destroy each other or lift each other up?
