I didn’t want to write about Bogum and his role/acting in Boyfriend till drama ends but now that you are writing about it here is my take on it. But before that, since I read various posts/reviews; we as fans have the right to like or dislike one or some of our favorite actors/actresses’ projects. like or dislike their acting in a certain project and it’s totally valid, it’s a personal preference. Just remember to always respect them and their effort, while analyzing or criticizing.
As for Boyfriend, I get why Bogummy chose JinHyuk. As a stand-alone character Jinhyuk totally is a character that has moved our Bogummy and it’s so obvious to me that he is in love with this character. And also agree with @gumtaek about scriptwriter being inspired by Park BoGum and his personality. They may never say anything about it but as long time fan of BoGum it’s somehow clear, isn’t it?
I have things to write about Jinhyuk so if you don’t want to read it just skip the next paragraph. I don’t feel like posting it on the drama thread...
Kim Jinhyuk is a literarian ( also an artist) and I connect with him on so many levels. It saddens me that people like him are considered awkward, weak and too much by others. I know Jinhyuk is a fictional character but I know people who are like him in real life and the way viewers slandered him was like a personal attack. They want him to become manly.... that’s what I don’t get... I don’t know what is the definition of ‘real man’ for them but to me he is a real human being. JinHyuk is sensitive, empathetic, and passionate. He's confident enough not to worry about the standards. Some want him to smile less to grow up, they want CSH to broke up with him/ be separated till he makes more money and has higher status and it made me really upset to read those words.
So after all this rant I want to say I totally appreciate BoGum for taking up this role. It takes a lot to pick a role that’s not the norm in this society, make it believable and real, make peaple appreciate it against all their prejudices against Bogum himself or his character.
As for BoGum’s acting and my view of the drama as a whole, I’ll wait till drama ends. Praying every week that scriptwriter deliver till the end.
And chingus don’t worry about ratings, this drama is doing well beyond TvN’s expectation. It’s a subtle drama and it’s character driven. Things are not happening left and right and it’s not makjang. It’s just a heart warming mature romance so it will only have certain type of viewers. Let’s enjoy the second half of the ride and cheer on our Bogummy. As for award ceremonies, Bogum’s speech is still in my mind when he said rather than a popularity award he prefers to be nominated for his acting. So for now I’m not voting for any popularity award this year.

Episode 9- Text Preview
Based on the text preview for Ep.9, Jinhyuk’s identity is revealed. So from now on everything will be more complicated for him ( and even his family) and even may I say more dangerous because of Taekyung group.
The assumed pictures of Jinhyuk ( I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw they used BoGum’s pictures with his university friends) with the text under the photos are for revelation of the young man around our celebrity woman aka Cha Soohyun on SNS.
As for assumptions about time jump and going to Cuba, neither will happen. The Cuba scene is very misleading, in my opinion, it is only used for showing they missed each other. One of them is remembering the scene, it’s a combination of memory + fantasy/dream. The scene that Kim jinhyuk is running is maybe because SooHyun is going to visit him. So they may use this scene while they are running toward each other or thinking about each other, one (Jinhyuk) or both of them are remembering the cafe note( if and only if Soohyun has seen the note but it wasn’t shown).
p.s In text preview there is no mention of Cuba. It’s just revelation of Jinhyuk’s identity and Soohyun’s mom going to Sokcho.

I love to watch a simple, natural story to cultivate a romance. SooHyun and Jinhyuk’s developing romance is hitting everything right for me till now.
Put them together, Go slowly, Show that they like being together, Show how confused they are, etc. I can go on even further with all the right steps to have an organic romance but what I love the most is the ‘Respect’ that is shown.
And Jinhyuk’s indirect love confession was one of the most beautiful ones I’ve watched in kdramas.

Episode 7 was such a bittersweet episode. Our couple made precious memories although it was sad I had a amile on my face, but the scene that made my eyes teary was Jinhyuk’s scenes with his father. Their deep understanding of each other, being thankful for each other, it touched my heart deeply. I wish with the coming new year, the parents of this thread will be appreciated by their childern and the others will have the chance to thank their parents.

Thanks @stroppyse for the preview translation. I think the last sentence will be at the beginning of tomorrow’s episode. JinHyuk is going to SooHyun’s office to stop her so it may be what he will tell her. Let him go and watch him come back to her again.

BoGum is working hard to endorse his CF contracts
first it’s hard promoting of Boyfriend from KakaoPage, ACE Bed is the main sponsor of the drama also followed by Eider. And now Hetbahn advertising in Cuba. Good team working and by the tweets from kfans his CF filming for today was for CocaCola....well who wouldn’t want to extend their contract with a celebrity that endorse them every chance he gets... hihi. I just hope this time his contract for CocaCola is not with idols @dahae2006 sorry for the really late coming back chingu. I hope your sick leave is nothing serious and with having BoGum on our TV you will be energized and happy.

I wanted to write a review but I don’t have enough time to collect my opinions. So here are some of them
- The beginning of Cuba scenes and our introduction to Jinhyuk was lovely and full of energy. A normal day with Jinhyuk was portrayed with good taste and somehow I believe BoGum himself is a traveler like JH.
- I really loved every scene with him.... from walking around the city, taking photos, reading a book and just being among locals and enjoying this new experience. But I have to say I started laughing when he went into that garden, passed the building, took photos and then the owner was cool and welcomed him... sure it works like that in real life
- One of my favorite scenes was JH dancing with the little girl. So heart fluttering and lovely
- Then it was time for the encounter at the beach. The cinematography, directing, and the landscape were all enchanting. Followed by their adventures in the evening and at night. It warmed my heart.
- The following morning things didn’t go as planned... it wasn’t meant to be. BoGum showed JH’s disappointment very well. And that gut wrenching scene at the end... he was devastated
I stand by my opinion that BoGum is an emotive actor... he shines more when the scene is nuanced and he has amazing eye acting.

The Cuba Episode was enchanting, it definitely was like magic. I wish we could have stayed there longer. The first Encounter was magical in every sense be it from the scenery, the glimpses of Jinhyuk’s everyday life in Cuba with locals and his fateful meeting with Soohyun, of reactions of fans, the hype after the airing of the episode and the rating.
I’m like Jinhyuk waiting for the next episode
As for the reaction of netizens, it wasn’s shocking at all. Since I had followed the news since the beginning, at first everyone’s reaction was negative it wasn’t until fans of both PBG and SHK came forward to comment that we saw a change in the comments. So it’s completely normal to read about those netizens’ reaction since they don’t like either or both leads.
As for general drama fans (knetizens and international kdrama viewers) who are not happy with the pace of Boyfriend or the story, my guess is that nowadays kdramas are fast-paced with a kissing scene in ep1-2, getting together and breaking up or a having a bed scene by ep7. It doesn’t give you time to digest it like good old days and everything happens so fast. I don’t know if the story of Boyfriend/Encounter will be spectacular since the weakest link in this production is the writer but what I’ve sensed from the early synopsis till now is that Boyfriend is nostalgic, it will give you every step of having a cush on someone to falling in love and being in love, we will see their yearning, sadness and happiness. The heart fluttering experience of watching their love story is why I’m here. Let’s hope for the best.

Hello Bogummers. How have you been recently?
Finally our Bogummy is back and what a mesmerizing comeback it is. This morning I woke up at 5 just to watch Ep1 of Boyfriend before going to work. I have a smile spread on my face and my colleagues are questioning my sanity
I don’t have time to write a detailed review now ( will come back during lunch break) but just came here to say The Cuba Episode was enchanting, it definitely was like magic. I wish we could have stayed there longer. The first Encounter was magical in every sense be it from the scenery, reactions of fans, the hype after the airing of the episode and the rating.
