  1. @Intuition1You simply took the words out of my mouth!! I have the exact sentiments.

I cannot stress enough how amazing YJ is. She is not just as a widely respected award-winning actress, strong and accomplished. Her confidence, humour, wit and genuineness as a person is what I love most about her. She doesn't put on a show in front of the camera (during interviews/variety shows/IG). She is just living her life on her own conditions. What you see is what you get. Daebak!!

To me, she is one of the most empowering and inspirational women of all time.

I can buy you Eastpak, Jansport and Nike bags, how about it? (Don't get this joke) SYJ says, oh too expensive.

I don't watch Korean variety shows so no idea who the people in this video are? Please give me some context. How does the backseat guy know SYJ?  She was a good sport to play along but we know that about her.

@Seriya I am not familiar with K-ent, especially the variety shows too. According to the Ch-subs, Eastpak, Jansport and Nike bags are considered expensive for the younger generation, and from the conversation between the hosts and Haha, seems that Haha's image is "small kid" (literally translated from the subs).

Backseat guy is Gong Hyung-jin, who acted with YJ in drama Alone In Love (2006), and worked with her again in animated movie Yobi (2007).

I really like hearing YJ's voice on the phone - so sweet and cheerful. Love her witty answers too.

    @puan iryantie

I think YJ knew Haha from Running Man episode 70 broadcasted 27 Nov 2011.

The Taxi interview was 2 Aug 2012.

  3. @Seriya The kind of raw and powerful acting you saw in TTB, YJ actually did show similar acting in Blood And Ties (BAT). Did you watch that movie? At that time, during many of her interviews regarding BAT,  YJ said that movie was the most difficult for her because there were many highly emotional scenes, far more than a normal dark thriller. YJ said she was completely drained after filming BAT.

There are so many memorable YJ shows that it is very difficult to choose. For me, AMTR will always have a special place in my heart since it is the very first YJ movie I watched many years back and I really cried buckets over it. 2nd will be MWGM because it is amazing how she is able to convince the audience not to hate her character in it (Jin Ah) with her brilliant acting. And I think she looks simple yet breathtaking without much makeup in all her scenes.

For dramas, my favourite is CLOY. She simply nails all her scenes and emotions, without overacting and boy, her comedic timing is flawless! Whenever YSR laughed, I laughed. Whenever YSR cried, I cried. Actually YJ's flair for comedy can also be seen in Personal Taste and The Art Of Seduction.

For great acting, I will choose Alone In Love (AIL) as my 2nd favourite YJ drama. The thing about YJ’s acting is that she’s fantastic when it comes to emotional scenes. She doesn’t need to shed tears, and we know she’s aching inside. Even when she is smiling, we can somehow feel the pain she is experiencing within. Sometimes the most subtle look or gesture has the power to generate the most emotional response from the audience. No words necessary. This is what differentiates a great actress from a normal actress.

@Jbelr  Yes, YJ often says that she chooses the scenario (script) first, then the character (whether it calls for YJ to act in the role or the role can be filled with any other actress), then the rest (Director, PD, salary, cast, etc) follows.

YJ aims to challenge herself with every role she accepts and I remember she said that if she feels confident that she can play the role 100%, she will not it take up. Because this means that it is not challenging enough for her. Only if she is 60-70% confident, she'll take up the role. The 30-40% difficulty is the challenge YJ gives herself in order to hone her acting skills and to grow as an actress.

So by repeatedly pushing herself out of her comfort zone and taking up a variety of roles, YJ strives to present a different appearance to her audience each and every time. YJ's transformation started in 2005 when she took up The Art Of Seduction. Next came AIL. The rest, as they say, is history.

At the tender age of 23, YJ is already striving to break free of her Nation's First Love image, and prove to her antis and critics that she is not just a pretty face. She said before that she is aware that beauty doesn't last, hence she will need to prove herself by improving her acting skills.

She has always been thoughtful and mature beyond her years. I am really proud to call myself a YJ stan and will continue to support this amazing woman in her acting journey.

PS: sorry for the long post!

So this is my YJ story, basically. Not my twitter account, but conveys my exact same sentiment:

Same! I wish I kept following her after I saw AMTR and Classic back in 2008/2009. It was just most of her movies weren't available to me in Canada or I didn't notice them. I wasn't watching kdramas back then. I was more watching movies/foreign films. None of her movies made it out to the festivals in the cities I was in.

Me too!! I knew her since Summer Scent, AMTR and April Snow days. I remember liking YJ together with JJH and SHK as K-actresses, but that is it.

CLOY made me fall in love with YJ all over again. Hard.

Catching up with her filmography made me a YJ stan.

Reading and watching all her interviews and reality shows opened my eyes to YJ as a person in real life - her warm smile, wonderful personality, her charming wit and her unwavering focus on bringing the best acting to her audience. She exudes positive energy and makes everyone around her feel comfortable with her.

All these made me adore and respect YJ even more.

I just watched AMTR again, which is in my top five Yejin films. This time I watched the director's cut which is longer at 2:24. It feels different than the cinema version although the overall story is the same.

      Reveal hidden contents

When I saw the cinema version I did not realize Su-jin (SYJ) was having significant memory problems until she starts having trouble around the house. It was like the movie had two parts: 1) falling in love with Chul-soo and 2) the two of them dealing with Su-jin's increasing memory loss. In the director's cut, it is quite obvious from the first scene that the movie is about her memory loss.

What was included in the director's cut?

She is super cute in that Zoom meeting! I wish we get to see more of her casual looks if/when she becomes active on IG again. Or a guesting on Um Jeewon’s vlog with the other Cinderellas would be great too

Oh yes!! ME too!! Love her casual looks more than her "modelling" / "all-made-up" looks. Her natural beauty shines through effortlessly.

Recently I watched Uhm Ji Won's latest vlog where she spent time shopping and eating with Gong Hyo Jin and Han Ji Hye (who acted with YJ in Summer Scent). It was so interesting and fun to watch the ladies hanging out, doing normal everyday stuff. Saw some comments requesting her to get YJ to guest in her vlog too!

Happy for YJ that she has this solid circle of girlfriends who will be there for her, supporting her always, come what may.

  6. I remember I was impressed with HB's English when watching MOA. I believe that being the perfectionist that he has always been, he wanted to give his best performance with the Smart CF. However due to his many commitments, he was unable to prepare his lines sufficiently.

Smart's explanation did not reflect very well on HB. Guess they did not put much thought into the wording. They should have done a better job at explaining his predicament/concerns.

I agree! I was so looking forward to hearing her speak in English for this CF since we got Hollywood news, but she blew me away by doing the complete voice over! And it’s soooo good.

And it is a bit sad that it wasn’t in their initial plans but it all works out in the end! They surely get their money’s worth by having SYJ as an endorser

Totally agree!! I find YJ's articulation really good in the Smart CF. Her English has improved a great deal from the time she spoke to the Swiss lady in CLOY. So proud of YJ!

By getting Binjin to endorse their products is a really smart move by SMART.

Individually, HB is very popular and YJ is highly sought after.

However as a package, this golden couple is PEERLESS.

Their upcoming joint CF will surely break the internet.

Short and sweet article about SYJ’s Smart commercial. She’s an English queen! Hollywood better be ready for her

    https://www.wheninmanila.com/5-fun-facts-about-son-ye-jin-smart-commercial/

YJ is really very very professional and always gives her best in whatever she does --> she challenges herself by doing the entire voice-over on her own.

On the other hand, we can also see her dorky and cute side when she "unexpectedly posted" her Ducati BTS on her IG --> Spoiler Queen.

Though I must say, I am a teeny weeny bit disappointed that Smart brought YJ onboard only after fans requested "so that Capt Ri would not be lonely". Nevertheless, it is still a great blessing that we can see BinJin together again in the same frame soon (after Baeksang)!!

It was funny the brand was dropping hints since Aug 1..and no one suspected her..reading the comments...LOL!

Is it because there are not many Cnet fans here to update us on Binjin's latest?

I mean, those hints dropped were too obvious not to link them to YJ.

Here we are all speculating over SMART's teasers and neglecting Saselomo's.

Her Chinese fans need to be more on top of this :);)

I am glad she is endorsing a Chinese brand. I loved reading all her old interviews in her thread which she gave to her Chinese fans back then. I know of her nickname for her too

Also she speaks good Chinese still to me :P For a Chinese Canadian that knows basic Cantonese and Mandarin lol

Yes! Her Mandarin has definitely improved!!

Compare her from "The Classic" days vs today.

    Another vid!

WOW!! The C-net fans are all very excited and rushing to place their orders when they saw YJ in the CF! Gonna be like HB's Thai endorsement which sold out within hours.

Looks like this is the CF shoot when she posted a couple of her selfies on IG:

Yes! Seems like the same dress.

Both that YJ and HB are going international, endorsing more and more non-SoKor products. Super happy for them!

I sort of like her chemistry with JWS as well!!! Spotlight was also one of the drama where she had quite good chemistry with the ML...GAHH....in conclusion SYJ  has the best chemistry with whatever pairing she is with!! ahaha:twerk2:

Yes! Love SYJ with JWS in AMTR. SYJ looks so young and pretty then, and JWS is sooo hot!

Actually SYJ looks really pretty in Spotlight also, even though her makeup was so light to the point of being bare-faced.

I love to see her bickering with her assistant (Jin Goo).

AMTR will always be my fav SYJ movie, and

CLOY - my fave SYJ drama.

MITH - my fav SYJ variety show.

In addition, my fav SYJ interview is this:

     https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV12b411t7W5/

Above interview is 78mins long. Watch from 57mins to see how SYJ reacted to her own singing (Alone in Love) - It was hilarious!!!
