  1. hi everyone again i haven't been here for a while ^^;;

    seeing the preview for bamboo forest actually made me remember the time cheoljong volunteered to go after and kill sobong - he stopped prince yangpyeong (who we all know would finish the job without any hesitance consider how prejudiced he was against the entire andong kim at that time) and volunteered to go instead. prince yangpyeong then said "don't let your personal feelings cloud your judgement". back then i thought it was surprising he said that - it meant that he was aware that cheoljong had a soft spot for soyong, insinuating he possibly had some feelings for her even back then.

    twice he could have easily killed her, but both times he decided to give her a chance to explain first. i mean, it could also be because she's the queen and her death may cause a uproar in the andong kim, but just that seeing the preview of the new spin off explaining that CJ possibly had feelings for SY from before first made me think of these instances that possibly hinted at this as well.

    oh and really random thought but i wonder if oo wol will return in the last 4 eps? it's not confirmed that she's dead right?

    it's just 2 more days to mr queen day everyone!! stay strong :''D hopefully there will be actual kisses this weekend :''DDD

    BTW, has Jo Hwa Jin gotten dark or what? She just watched a small child (apparently) commit suicide and her only reaction is to make it all about her.

    honestly at this point i'm fully convinced the writers just decided to write her as annoying and selfish as humanely possible. like she was literally not even needed in that scene but she just appeared to talk nonsense ksdjnfksdjnf

    my question was more like - if he didn't save her, why would he let the queen know that he lied/ or something is not true?

    sorry i don't really understand your qn... because the king did save her? i think the king probably asked people to swap out the poison that she was being fed, making her pass out instead of die. and he wanted to let the queen know since it was also his promise to her (and probably also she was so heartbroken at that moment and was ready to go ballistic). sorry if i didn't answer your qn again ^^;;;;;;;

    I didn't think Korean viewers were ready for such a conflicting topic, but it seems they are. This plot reminds me of an old Argentinian tv series (2007) called ”Lalola”   https://www.google.com/search?kgmid=/m/04640jb&hl=en-CL&q=Lalola&kgs=57cdf44e59717a65&shndl=0&source=sh/x/kp/osrp&entrypoint=sh/x/kp/osrp in which the main character wakes up in a female body after being cursed by a woman in revenge for his womanizing behavior

    He also has to adjust to a female body, ends up surrendering to hormones, and even falls in love with a man. When I started watching Mr. Queen, I didn't think the story went that path because of the topic of sexual orientation, but I was mistaken.

    same!! really happy that they went with this route, i think everyone had doubts they would because of how conservative korean dramas are. reminds me of hyesun mentioning in her interview how she was really worried about how her character will make viewers uncomfortable, so she tried to approach the character (bh and sy) as genderless personalities (not exact wording but similar meaning). honestly kudos to hyesun for pulling off this character, she really did an amazing job.

    that said i still think that whatever happened was pretty much dubcon. the collaborative effort of hyesun, junghyun, and the production team made it digestible (which has both pros and cons...) but yea. just wanted to say it just because ahha.

    anyway, all hail our king!! i was almost afraid they'll do what happened in the chinese version of scarlet heart, but oh man, ;A; CHEOLJONG. WHAT A GUY.

    is there any other reason for him to do so?

    he's someone who hates sacrificing the innocent/weak. also i think sobong asked him to protect the girl previously (i think, i haven't seen the subbed ver yet).

    She can’t love Cheoljong back because she’s a man or because she feels guilty by taking So Yong’s place? I’m very intrigued by this!

    i think sobong is feeling guilty for having feelings for cheoljong. the thing is i don't think she/he/they have it completely down what their identity is yet. they don't know if soyong is going to return completely, and if soyong returns what is she gonna do when she finds out the king is in love with not really her?

    imo the writers are likely gonna go the both-of-them-are-one-soul way, it's just that sobong has yet to figure it out. bong hwan is definitely the more dominant er soul? in sobong but we've also seen how soyong has come into play in shaping sobong. bh/sobong has been the most protective of soyong thus far, evidently the most empathetic of her consider they knew everything she has been through. so i guess this "better safe than sorry" sentiment was voiced by bong hwan/sobong who still isn't sure what's going on. sorry for the bonghwans and soyongs and sobongs it's honestly a mess over here but i hope yall get the gist of what i'm saying HAHA

    honestly this whole soyong and bong hwan thing is really sweet. last night i was thinking how soyong died because she felt like her life was a lie, that she had always been chasing someone else's dream. she lived her life in guilt, and never got to do what she really wanted to do. but with bong hwan coming into her life, i like to think that she's living her true self through bong hwan's audacity and self-confidence bordering on arrogance and we've seen both aspects of soyong and bonghwan living through sobong. think this also echoes a lot with some theories proposed by some users earlier on in this forum. but anyway i just thought it's something really sweet and i'm really glad she got her 2nd shot in life.

    I’m so furious! Not only the cousin took advantage of So Yong when she was THE MOST VULNERABLE, but he fixated obsessedly on this kiss even though she rejected him after that and ran away from him!!!

    i just watched the scene with chinese subs and I'M SO ANGRY it's not just rejecting him, she literally said (tw: mention of suicide)

    Spoiler

    "don't come here. don't come near me, or i'll kill myself."

    and he recalls it as a fond memory??????? what the flipping.....

    Edit: added this in just cos i didn't wanna create an extra post but

  6. @aisling yea i get you... i feel a bit uncomfortable with swooning over what happened too, just focusing on shs and kjh's chemistry rn lel. even what the queen said to cheoljong before the kiss was directed towards hongyeon, so... idk. the ep 14 summary mentioned that they had a "hot night" so i think it may actually have happened, some ppl were pointing out that it was similar to the c-drama/novel versions too. a big sigh. but yea, atm we still don't know how the whole thing played out i guess, fingers crossed for tomorrow.

    The hilariously understated fact of this show is that all of her mumbo-jumbo really works. She brought Jang Bong Hwan's soul to her court and (partially) sent it back again. I wonder if it is she who is anchoring him there? What happens if she dies?

    i'm not sure if she's the one who sent him around (i can't really remember the details of the ritual), i thought she just discovered that there's someone else's soul in soyong's body and the timing coincided with the exchange (because of bong hwan's body on the verge of death on the other side)?

     I was wondering about that too

    But, in Chinese, no 9 means luck :blush: and dragon as well. so hopefully our King and Queen will get the luck after the Surit nal crisis.

    thanks!! i actually didn't know about 9 and i completely forgot she called the queen's lot "dragon" because the han character written on the back of the lot was fish lel. fingers crossed for our royal couple!

    Yes, you're right.

    I think I watched his interview/old IG story some days ago when he said that his MBTI personality type is INFP. Well, knowing that he's so perfectionist and serious playing his role in films, It does really fit him.

    I think the MBTI test i linked were for their characters - eg sobong is estp. I didn't know KJH is infp too though!!

    I can’t be the only one who finds him more and more attractive with each episode, right?

    guilty as charged... i was so sure that wouldn't happen since i always end up fangirling over shs and shs only in her dramas but kjh came out of nowhere and hit me like a truck...

    praying for a shs and kjh photoshoot please D:

    blu-ray demand survey - the more ppl indicating interest the higher the chance of them making it!:)

    cheoljong eagerly waiting for saturday too... (KJH's insta post) i have a feeling he forgot the password to the iron bell acc or sth lel

    Of the Joseon Dynasty speech that you learned while filming “Mr. Queen,” is there a word or phrase you would like to introduce to international fans?

    Kim Jung Hyun: Yeonmo is said quite often [in the drama]. It can be similar to sarang (love), but it also includes the emotion of earnest longing. I think it is a more rich expression of love.

    Shin Hye Sun: One of So Yong’s lines is, “You have to yeonmo me.” How about using this phrase when confessing love in the future?

    3) Kim Jung Hyun was quite serious even after a kiss. Usually actors have the same reaction as Shin Hye Sun - they try to laugh or joke around to make it less awkward. But look at KJH - he’s so serious when the director

    my theory is that they're both still remaining in character since they know the shooting of that scene isn't over yet. when watching the bts i realised they don't have too many NGs where they break character, even more so when it's a serious scene. when one of them messes up, both of them (esp KJH) don't really laugh/react to the mistake. they seem really good at immersing themselves in the role/scene. watching the bts makes me admire them even more as actors ;A; they're so cool and professional ;;;A;;;

    edit: LEL KJH so random at first he posted a photo of cheoljong with the caption "still wednesday" then after midnight he deleted that post and reposted the same photo with the caption "it's thursday tho" :joy:

    anyway i found this fun little personality test floating around twitter if yall are interested :D https://cleardin.com/queen

    i got cheoljong (infp)! ^^

    just watched episode 9, and I don’t understand what happened with the two little girls and the well. And how was Jo Hwajin able to wander into the Queen’s house as a child, and how did the Queen as a child know of the king in the well?

    so hwajin has always been kinda jealous of/looks up to soyong, dressing up like her so it's easy to mix the two of them up (the starting scene where soyong's friends mistake hwajin as soyong).

    hwajin and soyong were friends who chat across the wall around soyong's house. soyong was grieving her mother and wants to see her mum again. hwajin (intentionally or unintentionally) replies that we will be able to see our passed loved ones when we die. so soyong decided to try and kill herself by trapping herself in the well so no one can find her. that's where she incidentally met won beom.

    jo hwajin was able to just freely enter her house just because drama setting LEL

    hwajin was teased as fake soyong because the one that gave won beom the courage to live again was soyong. also she saved him twice - once when she went into the well to kill herself and gave him some water. and another time by unsealing the well so he could escape. it was significant to him because the people he loved left him one by one to die (and thus leaving him to fend for himself), but she was the only one who came back. but when he escaped the well, he mistook hwajin as soyong and fell in love with her instead. hwajin didn't correct him, may be because of how much she wanted to be soyong. the book that he handed over to hwajin was soyong's, i'm guessing won beom couldn't read back then. but hwajin subsequently changed the name on the book to hers, so she took the place of soyong in won beom's life.

    The chemistry between Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun is burning! There are sparks flying around them whenever they’re onscreen together. They both have amazing comedic timing but they they’re also intense and hot with passion.

    honestly this afternoon i was already fretting how i will be able to watch and be convinced of future shs and kjh lovelines where they partner up with other actors when i've witnessed this legendary pairing :'D

    Why did the king suddenly hugged So Yong when she saw her? Is it because he don’t want So Yong to call his father in law and to know that he went inside the well? I’m so confused becoz clearly he fantasized hwajin first before he cleared his head and noticed so yong. :expressionless:

    first he saw hwajin, but his vision cleared and realised that it was actually sobong. it was then he proceeded to hug her and confessed his fears because he knew it was the queen who was with him. :')

    this ep we're seeing the king relying on the queen more and more, to the point that the queen is basically one of his only comfort/distraction from the nightmare that he's basically living in. the soompi article wrote it really nicely - everyone wants something from him. he can't seem to be his true self in front of anyone. until sobong came along and apparently wants absolutely nothing to do with him (and i guess also soyong who only wants the best for him? my own greedy little theory cos we don't see enough of her lel) :'))))))))))))) anyway sobong pls give our king a big hug

    Is the King able to read and write? I thought he didn't. There was a scene where his ally was reading a martial arts book to him and explaining the content. What gives?

    adding on to @YongZura⁷ᴮᴱ's reply, i think it's just that inspector hong was more familiar with the content so he was explaining/summarising it for him - it's a more efficient way of learning since he can't take the daytime to read it. doesn't mean he can't read the book himself.
