Eugene = Mr. Sunshine.
Because, despite abandoned by his own motherland, he has been doing all he can to protect it (train future RA, save the lives of those inside the train carriage, including his beloved wife.)I have the feeling it's the moral value of Eugene that the writer tried to display, hence the name Mr. Sunhine.

Lets face it, KES sucks at writing anything else other than romance.......
But she's brilliant in creating characters, but often fell short in plot at the end......
She literally destroyed AeShin 's appeal after ep 19. ANd her involvement in RA hardly contributed anything.....In the end she had to flee the country for her life....
A better plot would be she joins Eugene to US and try to convince the globe of Japan's wrongdoing......!!-

Indeed, very bad script writing in the last couple of episode (except 21).
If it wasn't for LBH and KTR, esp in the final train scene, these episodes would've been ruined.
They were on their way to Manchuria for HE, the writer just had to kill Eugene off.
This is the first time i feel that, it was the lead actors not the script writer that shoulder the whole drama, imho. Which is unusual for KES"s drama. Often, her script writing is core reason for the drama's success, but not this time, especially the last episode. Trying too hard to implement nationalism by sacrificing the development of OTP after episode 19.
AeShin should've followed Eugene to US, given that in the end she had to leave CX also.......
The last fish eating scene just broke my heart into pieces.....it's like watching two different drama and the cutoff point is around EP 18..-

My favorite are the hugs, AS’s hilarious “come here” at the US legation, fishing date, the bakery proposal and the train love confession scene. I also love DM grabbing AS’s skirt in ep 4 (?) I know it was kind of wrong but that scene was breathtakingly beautiful with the rain drops, the music and the intensity from both actors.
Shoe wearing, boat scene, photographing scene, train confession + ring wearing , jail scenes, apothecary hug scenes XD

Looks like MR.SUNSHINE is no longer at No.1 of the Buzzworthy list from the Korean media updates posted late tonight. Well, good things doesn't last forever. Perhaps, by tomorrow we'll see the English news to read.
