    Why is it the only new staff (aside from the pretty ER fellow) are all in Pediatrics?  New pediatric nurses?  All eligible?  :lol:  LeeShin have a wicked sense of humor.

    @BulmaGoku I think that was what was telling in this ep.  LeeShin was obviously comparing the 2 girls and their love interests.  One got stood up and didn’t get her dream date.  The other had a date.  But it is Bear couple that progressed.  Jang and PaBo’s date was shallow by comparison.  They learnt nothing new about each other.  PaBo lied to her again (about how he found out about her allergic reaction). Bear couple was vulnerable and honest.  They shared a moment.  SH admitted to being scared.  They connected on a deeper level. Jang just told PaBo she would handle everything herself.  The work related question that was asked?  Jang handled it herself.  Bear couple will do battle for the mother and baby TOGETHER in the next ep.  It will cement their bond.  That’s how a relationship grows and lasts.  It’s about connecting on that deeper level.  Bear couple may not have had their romantic date, but they are a team.  MinHa understands SH.  He let her into his innermost fears and thoughts.  He doesn’t do that for anyone.  She’s special to him.  So I have great hopes for their relationship.  It’s gotten past the superficial stuff (missing dates etc).  MinHa has been a real trooper.  No wonder YS said that he was cheering for Bear couple.  I am too. :lol:.  We need PaBo to grow up and learn that shallow is not where it’s at if he wants a long term relationship that will last.  Jang will be his learning experience.

    SHwa is like MinHa.  She will always choose work and the benefit of others over her own interests.  She has consistently done this.  So she’s not going to let her own disappointment in a man get in the way of her calling.  PaBo has regressed as a character this episode.  You can see it in his date with Jang.  He chose to find out about the personal question first.  Compare it with the contrasting Bear couple - work first.  PaBo is ditzy and losing focus.  He needs a wake up call.  I think DLL will be the wake up call.  He will see how hard SHwa works to bring in the funds for DLL and be drawn to her again.  He wandered off the path of altruism and patient first mentality.  That’s why he said in the interview recently when introducing SHwa, he said she’s the “wise doctor”.  And she is.  He now needs to up his game to be worthy of her again.  I have no doubt that Jang has moved on from PaBo.  She showed little interest in finding out anything more about him or his thoughts.  Compared to how she was in S1 where she was going all out to find out about him through Bong’s gossip sessions and IJ.  Now that she has him, why is her personal question, “can we go watch a movie?” Huh?  When you watch a movie you don’t talk?  There’s no chance for a deep connection at all?  What about, “when did you first like me?” Or “why did you pass me the chocopie?”  Or “why did you cry when you kissed me?” Her disinterest in him speaks volumes.  All she talked about was keeping their relationship secret and IJ.  :lol:
     

    Shin promised flashbacks so we will likely see the Hawaii story.  And SHwa’s first love.  Which I believe to be PaBo.  And chances are he’s also the one who gave her the shoes which she hung on to.  Capt Ahn gave her a replacement pair.  The 2 Ahns.  I think ChiHong will make a cameo at the end.  To be with SeonBin.  Did you notice how she knew that ChiHong had transferred to the SongNo branch and started clinical rotations that day (when SHwa asked SB and SM?).  That meant she was still in contact with him and chatted often. :wub:

    Bear couple will go the distance.  Despite the opening scenes in S2.  Let me tell you why I think so.

     

    MinHa’s holding the bear.  And cake (she will take the cake).  At the end of this scene.  She will end up with SH, not his ex.

    And this framed shot.  See how the footprints cross in the snow?  MinHa’s footprints crossover the footprints of SH and his ex.  She will come between them.

    And what about the umbrella?  Isn’t a shared umbrella one of the tropes for KDrama?  It is, but how did SH’s ex get the umbrella in the first place?  It’s care of the ER fellow (new girl who is quite pretty).  SH’s ex got her opportunity to cruise back into SH’s life care of the hospital (her dad’s sickness).  She didn’t bring it herself.  So this scene is just suggesting that she’s coming back into his life and hoping to rekindle their romance.

    But all the other scenes later tell a different story.  SH has allowed MinHa into his private sanctum.  He hates people invading his space.  That’s why he didn’t take the crowded lift and took the stairs instead.  But he lets MinHa into his office.  He’s vulnerable before her.  He talks to her about random stuff (like SHwa getting a new car).  They talk deep stuff like how he’s scared about his decision to take up the difficult case with the pregnant lady (they will battle this case together - bringing them even closer).  He’s open about who the woman is that he’s seen with.  He makes her coffee…in couple mugs. :wub:


    Dinner with his ex was in the cafeteria.  Public space.  Everyone could see them.  And SH didn’t eat his meal (he put down his spoon) when his ex suggested dining together regularly again.  He’s unlikely to go along with her demands.

     

    Bear couple has tracked along nicely.  In a mature fashion.  MinHa learns fast.  Remember how SH scolded her for taking his phone call whilst in the middle of a procedure?  She picked personal (answering the phone) over work things in that instance.  As a doctor, you have to learn to compartmentalize your life.  You have to choose work over personal stuff all the time.  You can’t lose your focus when you’re on the job.  So when SH gave MinHa the choice of picking private or work question, MinHa did the right thing.  She chose work first.  She learnt from that scolding she got.  And just as Fate/God would have it, the clock passes midnight (rewards her) and clever MinHa says, “It’s another day.  I can ask you the other question (private) now.”  Well done MinHa.  Full marks. :)

    I am trying to figure out when we will get the time jump.  Maybe after Ep2 or mid Ep2. After they resolve the existing cases.  The pregnant woman in danger of losing her baby and the girl in need of a new heart?   YS’s Insta post has a calendar in the background and it’s April 2021.  The pic below has come out blurry but when I enlarge it on my phone I can see it.

    In R88, Bora used Trash as a means to get to her real target, SunWoo.  She wanted to make SunWoo jealous by going on a blind date with Trash.  Here I think Jang is using PaBo to get to IJ.  Her affections have shifted to IJ.  Think about it.  Why would she NOT tell IJ about finally getting to be with PaBo?  IJ has been her partner in crime?  He set them up?  He gave her all this help?  Why would she keep it from the very person who helped her get her crush?  Wouldn’t she want to tell him that his plan worked?  She used to tell him everything before?  Why not now?  He did all the hard work on her behalf?  It’s the least she could do?  Why would she shut him out now that PaBo and her are dating?  Wasn’t that the objective?  :lol:

     

    The only reason for it is because she likes IJ.  She wants PaBo to break the news to IJ to gauge how IJ will act towards her.  Will it cause him to spring into action like he did when she intentionally picked PaBo’s surgery after the rose proposal scene?  He yelled, “after all I have done for you?  I hate you” like a spurned lover.   Jang wants to use the same ploy BoRa did when she used Trash to get to SunWoo.  Jang is using PaBo to make IJ jealous.  That’s why she seemed so disinterested during the date?  Remember how she was dying to get every little bit of info about PaBo from Bong?  From IJ?  Now that she has his full attention to herself, why is her personal question, “can we watch a movie together”?  Huh?  She no longer likes him that way anymore.  That’s why she couldn’t be bothered to find out anything more about him.

    What movies were playing in Korea Jan2020?  Writer Lee does her homework.  She will pick one of those.  
     

    And there’s another contender for PaBo’s affections in the new ER Fellow.  The pretty one who grabbed PaBo’s arm and asked for coffee.  He passed her his card to use… trouble is a-brewing already… :lol:

    SH’s ex-wife.  YeonU’s mom.  IJ and SHwa (remember IJ and his ring from med school?).

     

    On the flip side it is also about hanging on.  Feeling the faint kicks of the baby who is still alive.  And refusing to let go.  The lady in danger of losing her baby.  SHwa is going to hang in there with PaBo. I get the feeling PaBo thinks there’s something going on between IJ and her and he’s bowing out.  But we know now that SHwa friend zoned IJ.  We’re in SHwa’s corner now as she fights for PaBo.  In her usual dignified manner of course.  She’s going to take up DLL and put her full heart into it.  She will help fund it by bringing in the VIP clients.  She’s a woman on a mission.  Remember how I said DLL was PaBo’s heart?  It’s a metaphor.  PaBo has lost his focus as a doctor.  He is giddy with this high-school type infatuation.  It’s not going to last.  I think Jang got into it to get IJ jealous. He’s already showing signs of it by asking PaBo about it. And he’s asking Jang too (twice).  She wants IJ to hear about it from his mates - like BoRa did when she blind dated Trash.  She told SunWoo it was to get him jealous.  PaBo sounds like he’s given up on love (like the song) and settling for a fling.  Problem he’s got is that SHwa hasn’t given up on him.  She’s waiting.  Just like she waited for him to make the decision about priesthood.  She made no demands.  No desperate plea to choose me not God.  She will do the same here.  Via DLL.  She’s going to be the greatest Villain.  Bringing in the bacon and funding DLL.  Pouring her heart into it at the expense of herself.  Just like PaBo did before.  That’s the way into his heart.  So indirectly she will steal him back :lol:.  SHwa broke up with Prof Jang.  I anticipate it will be mirrored here as well.  WG has a movie date.  I get the feeling they will bring back R88 parallels.  That scene where the 2 men were vying for DS (trying to get there) was iconic.  We’ll see if they use it as a nod back.  
     

    As for Bear couple.  They are tracking along well.  And LeeShin have put in hints there that they will land safely in the end.  Look at this scene and how Shin filmed it.  It was beautiful.  The snow flurries.  The sweeping music.  Like an old time movie.  White Christmas (I’m dreaming of a White Christmas) as background music (whilst she was dining alone).  MinHa’s journey is one where she moves from a dream to the reality.  And she’s tracking well.  Because she’s learning to handle disappointments.  She’s a real trooper.  Maturing nicely.  Love her to bits.  Real life doesn’t play out like a dream/movie.  This was the second time she saw her love interest with another woman.  She kept her cool, she didn’t go crazy jealous and plan revenge.  She gave SH the opportunity to explain to her.  Like an adult.  And by asking nicely and respectfully, she got a similarly honest and respectful reply from SH.


    Where writer Lee plays with scripts and metaphors and double meanings in the lines that she pens, Shin does it with camera angles and filters and props.

    Focus is on SH and his ex under the umbrella. Poor MinHa is shattered.  As if being stood up wasn’t bad enough. :tears:

    Then this frame.  See how their footprints cross over?  MinHa’s crosses over SH and his ex-wife’s.  She will come between them.  SH will not return to his ex.  He has moved on.

    Then this final scene.  She’s holding the Bear.  And the cake.  She takes the cake.   Shin always suggests end game couples in all his dramas by doing this with props and camera angles/frames.

    @BulmaGoku mentioned emergency couples. :lol:  There’s likely a reason there.  You show up at emergency because it’s…well life or death situation.  
     

    Bidulgi showed up there.  They were in “trouble” because of the long distance relationship.  Will they survive?  I wager yes.

     

    SH and his ex wife.  Will they survive? I vote no because SH is keeping her at arm’s length.  Bear couple will go the distance.

     

    WG showed up there.  Will they survive?  Remains to be seen.  Awkward first date.  I don’t think they learnt anything new about each other at all during that date.  Why would JWon lie about turning up to find out how she was during her anaphylaxis?  That was odd?  He didn’t need to hide it?  He told her he found out from IJ.  Why is he still lying?   Actually in their whole conversation, IJ was mentioned so many times.  Is Jang using JWon to make IJ jealous?  Like Bora did with Trash because she wanted SunWoo to hear about it and get jealous?

     

    And thanks to @BulmaGoku IJ and SHwa in the car with the reflection in the above pic.  They were in danger too.  And now we know that SHwa gave IJ his answer…friend zoned.

    Actually thanks to MinHa, my dream kiss theory still holds. :lol:  This is the phone call that MinHa received after she dined alone at the Steakhouse (poor MinHa - I felt for her but I have high hopes for Bear couple.  They will go the distance.  I will write something about them in a Google doc.  I have had no time to sit down and jot down thoughts about Ep1.)

     

    MinHa is walking back to the hospital.  She gets a phone call.  We are not told who it is but I am pretty sure it was Jang.  There were no pleasantries and she was talking to someone who she was very close to (she had told this person about the date).

     

    MinHa - I’m right here. I’m right in front of the ER now.  My gosh it’s snowing so much.

    Jang - I just saw your text.  You’re back already? You said you had a date this evening?

    MinHa - Did I?  I was joking. A date, my foot!  Anyway I am heading in now.  Wait at the station okay? (The she hangs up)

     

    What was Jang doing at the station?  Presumably the ER station.  She was on call.  I thought she was busy kissing Jwon?  Some would say, she’s kissed him and it’s over, and she’s back at her post.  Err..wouldn’t you be gushing to tell your friend after that sort of move by your OTL?  Flustered?  Dazed?  Dying to tell someone?  But nothing like that happened.  It was likely something a lot more sedate.  That’s why their first date in Ep1 was so awkward.  You can’t rewind a move like that.  If you full on make out, the next step would be a bed scene. Or at the very least a lot more skinship.  :lol:

     

    That’s all for now FGrs.  Will write more about the couples after this busy weekend is done.  We’re tracking well FGrs.  SHwa is steadying the canoe.  She was happy to have JWon sit in the middle car seat in the back because it meant that she could see him through the rear view mirror.  And when she had to back up, she would turn around and there he was. :wub:  Eyes on her man.

    FG Clues galore even in Ep1.  I need to get screen shots and write it down.  Hopefully I will get some time this weekend.  Remember it’s SHwa’s choice.  :wub:.  Keep paddling FGrs.  Lots of parallels between seasons Ep1s.  It’s in there for a reason.  
     

    Also - what was Jang doing ringing MinHa?  Wasn’t she kissing JWon?  She said she was at the station - so she was on call.  My dream kiss theory is still valid.  Also the dream theory continues because as MinHa is eating on her own, the background music is White Christmas - I’m dreaming of a White Christmas.  :lol:.

     

    We have another 11 eps.  Just keep paddling.  We’re aiming for a marriage, not dating.

    Don’t worry @keutin. SHwa was dating a Prof Jang (LeeShin used the same surname for a reason) in Ep1 of S1 remember?  And they broke up.  I think they will parallel this in S2.  I haven’t had time to watch.  But from spoilers it is very apparent that SHwa is besotted with JWon.  She’s going to be the “greatest villain” :lol:.  She will steal JWon and knock him out with the water bottle.  Leaving the competition in awe at her prowess. Steady as we go.  Only Ep1.  I need to find time to watch and analyze.  SHwa turned IJ down.  Something’s off with the timeline.  I am expecting LeeShin to troll us.  So wait for the analysis.  Probably at BoD so it will be safe from prying eyes.  Shin promised a time jump and it hasn’t happened yet.  It’s coming and it will push us a year into the future.  Plod along like the tortoise.  LeeShin needs the hare to think they are so far ahead that they can take a nap…we will get to the finish line.  Marriage not dating.

    Hello?  What are you 2 doing together in the same spot before they asked you to answer some questions?  Filming a scene maybe?  :lol:.  From the English question asked, YS said he’s doing a Barista course…and he made coffee for MiDo.  She said it was delicious :lol:. And I think (?) MiDo’s question was to name a moment when she felt the 5 of them were particularly close.  MiDo said when they went camping together and they said, “let’s sleep together in the same room”.  YS asked why.  She just said, “it was just a moment I thought we must’ve been very close to suggest that”. :lol:

    I think that scene was supposed to mirror the IS-JWan scene.  Because they encountered a similar issue but handled it totally differently.  Shin PD was trying to highlight that there’s a difference between a 20yo couple Vs a 40yo couple.  The younger couple argued but the older couple talked through it and didn’t make it a huge issue.  A couple in their 40s don’t sweat the small stuff as much.  They are all about a deeper connection and walking together through the problems.  Their expectations of a relationship are different.  That’s why the FG dynamic is so understated.  They already have a deep understanding.  They don’t even need to date anymore, they can just get married.  And that ties in well with the fact that Rosa and Ju both starred in a drama together called Marriage not Dating. LeeShin brings in all these elements into their characters and scripts.  It’s not unusual.  Other writers do it too but this duo take it to another level.

    And MiDo said in the same interview that she is anticipating the relationship between JaeHak and JunWan :lol:.

    A bit off topic so I will keep it in a spoiler.  It is about one half of our ship (SHwa).

    Yes they do but we need to remember why.  IJ behaved badly at the dinner with ChiHong and made things awkward between the 2 of them (IJ and SHwa).  Their friendship was strained.  She stopped eating with him after that episode remember?  So he’s all about repairing that friendship this season.  That’s why his addendum said he wants to stop being greedy with respect to SHwa.  He was bristling when ChiHong threatened to steal his friend SHwa from him (he was “greedy” for SHwa - he wanted her for himself).  Both men treated her like property at the dinner.  No wonder she wasn’t impressed and showed her disgust by shoving IJ off her shoulder in the taxi.  LeeShin never have friends “hate” each other for life.  No matter what difficulties and differences they encounter, they maintain the friendship.  Like in all the Reply series.  The boys remain fast friends even though they liked the same girl at some point in the past.  So it will be the same here.
