The Light in Your Eyes – The One With All the Tears

    DBYIR19-04.jpg

Oh man, this drama just tore me to pieces. I knew about the twist, and how sad it was supposed to be, beforehand, so I was nervous going in. And I was caught off guard by how funny the first episode was. I was thinking, “Wait, did I click on the right drama?” But then I started to pick up on things, make sense of things, and then boom: sobfest. It was a unique experience piecing everything together, one I’ve never had with a drama, or TV show in general.

If you haven’t seen The Light in Your Eyes, I’d say that it’s an important one to watch. It’s such a smart and beautiful take on life and the way we process it. I still think about Han Ji-min and Kim Hye-ja’s character and her wise words to this day. There were still a few things that left me confused, but I appreciated the writer for just laying it all out there for us to decipher. I’d go back to try to pick up even more hints, but I don’t think my poor heart could handle a re-watch. Even so, I’m grateful to have watched it at all.

One Spring Night – The One With the Horribly Catchy Music

    DBYIR19-08.jpg

What I remember most from this drama? The songs “No Direction,” “Spring Rain,” “Is It You,” and “We Could Still Be Happy.” I didn’t even have to look those titles up — they’re still locked away in the back of my mind, constantly playing like distant elevator music. Once I get past that, I remember one of the most real and heartwarming romances I’ve seen, maybe ever.

The pace was achingly slow, with a lot of brooding and confrontations, but there was never one moment where I wasn’t fully engaged in our characters’ story. More than a drama, it felt like a documentary on modern-day love. And when actors make you feel that you’re watching something real, you know they’ve done their job. With this and The Light in Your Eyes, 2019 was definitely Han Ji-min’s year.

Thank you for the great article!  I feel the same way, I cannot rewatch "The Light in Your Eyes" even though I love this drama.  I cannot handle it one more time... lol.

@cometrue Can I talk about it here? Cause it's not ralate to JHI and HJM..

I think many people know the scandal about "Cheese In the Trap". A lot of Park Hae Jin's scenes were cut. He spoke up and then KGE said in an interview that ... "It's really regrettable that the drama became messy because the actors themselves became the controversies" He was not informed about the vacation when CITT ended. He went around promoting CITT alone. He said good things about her. But after all, she said that about PHJ :)

    Thank you :)

I feel the same with you :( I watched "A Muse" and I can't forget her image in that movie. I used to like her in "Cheese in the trap" but after that I saw many scandals about her attitude. That made me dislike her. I know her acting is good but I really don't like watching her promotion with JHI.. Until now I know that "A Muse" and "Tune in for love" are directed by the same director :o

    scandals and attitude ?

OMG.. I hope its ok for me to post this... because you say"  that he will say same thing on his next project."  Have anyone in our group see " A Muse " the movie that KGE  in it 2012..and won lot of awards for it.?  (if  that in the US I think is it consider a soft child porn..)  Holy Molly... and it directed by the same person, Korean a lot more morden than I though... wow talking about  18 +++ rating there. I just wonder if JHI ever watches some his leading ladies works ..at all. Sorry I can't watch any of her promotion with JHI ...because I could get pass the images of her in that movie. I am too old fashion.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts:smiley:! I did not know "A Muse" and "Tune in Love" were directed by the same director until I had read an article.  When I saw the poster of "A Muse", the first impression for me just... wow, the female lead was really ugly (sorry to say that but I still feel that way, it is just my personal opinion, no offensive); and yes, that was 18++++++.  I am not interested in anything of KGE with no bias (except related to Ji Min) .  As I said before, I was not interested in JHI because I did not know him even though he was getting popular after some of his hit dramas.  I know him just because he was pairing with Ji Min, their off screen chemistry was excellent, and in 2014, he had mentioned that Ji Min was the most beautiful actress.  I told myself don't be a shipper anymore because it's really hard and can get a heart attack anytime... ha ha.  However, I was trapped by the BTS:sweat_smile:!

I am pretty sure whenever he promos his new projects, he will say the same thing (I have good chemistry with my female leads).

Its made me very sad ...what he said about OSN.. I love OSN, I love the chemistry between him and HJM, its on my permanent rewatch list ...but now every time I wants to watch it again I will think how much hard time that JHIssi go though ...it take out all the joy that I have for that drama. I wish that he didn't shares that second time around in his interview.. on the same subject.. Especially when he is promoting his new movie.

Don't be sad!  I do not know what is he thinking or what is the real feeling inside his heart.  However, I know that all about promotion, promotion, promotion ....  That means he will say the same thing on his next project (he has excellent chemistry with his female lead) and he will say the same thing again and again.

For me i have no issue with woman with younger man as long as the man has the intellectual and maturity to care for the woman he loves.

Regarding HJM, she mentioned her technique before regarding after drama.  She will hibernate and get herself out of her character.  Last time in rooftop prince, she did mentioned she took quite a long time to stay at home to get herself out of the drama.  Partly she also has back to back from Padam Padam.

She needs that as she will always "transform" herself into the character and in love with the opposite character.

I find she is very protective of herself thus it is quite tough for her to start a relationship or having long term relationship.  Unless the male is very willing to protect her as what she is comfortable of.  i think that she is always the one that getting hurt.  Her younger time admitted that she got ditch my her boyfriend (think around wolf time).  Then her last admitted relationship is during her bff variety show rebuilding the house where she mentioned she has not dated for x no. of years and hope to find someone like goblin.

    I agree with you :)

@cometrue, yes i think JHI fall in love as he acted the character with every co star.

But for Ji Min, i think the line really blurred.  Cos he has already charmed by her during his rookie time.  Also Ji Min personal character makes all her co star feeling very comfortable does not really help for many male co star to jump out of the feelings they have in characters.  She is very easygoing so all sorts of shy co star will feel really relaxed with her.

Seriously i can understand how some stars can end up from reel to real.  These are just so heart fluttering moments.  Many actors and actresses have to deal with these feelings.

I am more worry the ship will sink because of ji min and not JHI (he has already informed the audience he is assertive in relationship and look at him in jenga game, he is so competitive).  So if he gets his mind to it, i am sure he will go for it.  Keke he already said he wanted to date now.

But Ji Min has a great method to detached herself to ensure she will not mistaken reel as real.

So if JHI want us to feel the ship sail, he has to work doubly hard to win all competitors and the lady heart.  Haha!

Ps. JHI already win some biscuits point by able to drink. And he drinks well. One of ji min basic criteria.  Also he is a very kind person.

Did I miss something?  When did JHI inform the audience he is assertive in relationship?  For Ji Min, I am happy that she has mentioned that she will get marry one day as she is getting older.
