The Real Reason Why Teddy Rejected Lady Gaga

A couple months back, 1TYM leader and YG Entertainment producer Teddy Park turned down an offer to produce music for American superstar Lady Gaga. Company president Yang Hyun Suk had explained that Teddy was too busy working on 2NE1's debut album to commit to working with other artists, which seemed to be a reasonable explanation. But let's be real--Teddy is a talented guy who I'm sure is also efficient and good at managing his time. So what was his REAL reason for turning down one of the biggest names in music currently?

In a recent interview with Star News, Teddy revealed that he has a rule that he keeps without fail when producing music for an artist. In order to give a song to a singer, he must first know that singer very, very well. It's only after he knows the singer really well that he can produce music that he believes fits the singer's style and personality.

Teddy explained, "I think that the music producer plays the part of setting a middle ground between what the composer was aiming for and the singer's intention. There were a lot of times when I was offered a large amount of money to compose and produce, but I turned the offer down because I didn't know that singer perfectly. I think that's why I've only worked with YG artists so far."

He also said that although he enjoyed his years with 1TYM, he's happier now as a producer behind-the-scenes. "I think that instead of standing in the front, my personality goes better with holding up someone from behind."

The talented producer has been busy working on 2NE1's full-length album, as well as Taeyang's second album scheduled for release later this year. He said, "Currently, I've finished about eight songs for his new solo album, and you will see a Taeyang that has risen to the greatest levels of vocal and performance."

Oh, well that's great that he wants to know the artist before producing. But it would of been a big step-up for him to produce Lady Gagas album.

YG is really lucky to have him--imagine if he worked for a different company he wouldn't work with yg artist cuz he doesn't know the well enough! so many of my fav songs wouldn't exists
