Bacne help?

Hi everyone! I'm a female in my early twenties and I've been suffering bacne (acne on my back) for 6-7 years. My bacne is really bad and I would not wear tops that shows my back. I've been using Neutrogena Body Scrub but it's not working. Did anyone experience something similar? How did you get rid of the bacne? Thanks in advance!

I suggest stop using the Neutrogena Body Scrub because the exfoliating beads will not be able to scrub off the dead cells on your back. Instead, buy a exfoliating bath glove or body brush and use it with body wash. The glove/brush will feel a bit painful but it'll definitely get the job done!

My hubby and I had bad bacne too in our early twenties. Tried a couple of bacne soaps and didn't work, so we gave up trying.

His bacne just disappeared by itself after awhile, and mine I think disappeared since I started taking birth control. So I guess you can just "wait and see" or try birth control?

Or you can try products that are from reliable source. Dermstore.com is a very nice site that sells a bunch of products that are good for any skin problem, more expensive though.

@nek I forgot to mention that I'm also using an exfoliating towel with the body wash but it seems ineffective. :(

@bunnylicious I'll check the website out. Thanks!

My cousin suggested The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil body wash paired with an exfoliating glove and it worked for me. I get the occasional blackhead or pimple on my back but it's nothing I'm self-conscious about anymore. I will say though my bacne was the worst when I was 12-14, and since then it's subsided so my situation may not be super relatable since mine was puberty-related. I also used those pre-soaked wipes from Oxy and Noxema (they're pretty interchangeable) on my back and it seemed to help. Also consider if your stress levels and diet could be affecting your bacne.I think if you try a couple more things and it isn't doing anything for you, you should see a skin specialist.

@glamazon21 Thanks for the advice! I'll try the Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil Body Wash and exfoliating glove method. Where did you buy an exfoliating glove?

i have mild bacne and have been using the clinique acne solutions cleansing bar with a korean body scrub mitt (got mine on ebay for a few bucks). it has been 2-3 months and it looks like it's working because i don't get as many big cystic pimples anymore. you should also try to wear clothes that will allow your back to breathe- so like camis, tank tops, and generally loose clothing. i find that my bacne gets worse in the winter, probably because of all the heavy sweaters i wear

To be honest I use to suffer from bad bacne but now they're scars, like terrible scars. First the reason I get rid of my bacne is because I used this $500 medication called Aczone that came out recently, about three years ago or so but you can only get it prescribed from a dermatologist. I've been lightening and getting rid of my scars by using Witch Hazel as a toner and this Japanese exfoliator called called Cure. It was ranked as a number one product in Japan for a few years so I can tell you it's good. My back scars are slowly but significantly getting lighter. Witch Hazel is nature so using it as a toner is safe, wipe some on your back everyday after a shower (even if you don't shower everyday) because it's basically exfoliating your back. You'll see the dirt come off.
Also for a body soap, try using something that isn't scented. I use Dove for sensitive skin (green color) and it doesn't break me out.

I recommend experimenting with the following :)

1_Exfoliate by using an abrasive sponge or a loofah. However, don't scrub too hard, or you'll increase irritation.

2_Go to the beach. Have your back submerged within the salt water of the beach for about 10 minutes. Sit in the sun for 10-15 minutes. The sun will dry out the pimples. Do not do this for longer though because if you get burnt, it will make your acne a lot worse. Repeat this process a few times more and you will notice results within the first two days.

3_Try out zinc. Not a common household cure for acne, but certainly effective in some cases, zinc is a known enemy of acne. Zinc is a metal that humans need in small doses to perform essential functions. In addition to treating acne, it is used to boost the human immune system. Zinc can be used to treat bacne in two different ways:

Apply zinc directly to skin. Try finding a lotion with 1.2% zinc acetate and erythromycin 4% and rub it into the skin twice daily. If you can't find this, puncture a zinc gel tablet, squeeze some of the gel onto your clean finger or a Q-tip, and apply directly to your back.
Ingest zinc as a part of your daily vitamin regimen. Try taking zinc picolinate daily, about 25 to 45 mg. Do not take more than 50 mg daily, as this could put you at risk of copper deficiency, as larger doses of zinc interfere with copper absorption.

4_Make a natural exfoliating scrub. This will help remove dead skin cells that can clog pores and cause breakouts. Squeeze one grapefruit into a bowl with 1 1/2 cups of white sugar and 1/2 cup of coarse sea salt. Massage into the affected areas, then pat dry.

5_Change your skin's pH. pH is another word for the alkalinity of your skin. Scientists have determined that a skin pH of below 5 — the ideal being 4.7 — is beneficial to overall skin health and bacterial flora that help the skin.[4] Showering and using soap, in particular, can cause the skin's pH to go above 5, leading to dryness, scaliness, and breakouts.

Consider changing your shower head. Invest in a shower head that filters out the chlorine in your water. Your skin will thank you for it. Very decent shower head pre-equipped with filters only cost $25 to $50 and can have a profound impact on your skin.
Prepare a mix of one part apple cider vinegar and one part filtered drinking water in a spray bottle. After showering and before bed, spray the vinegar solution on your skin and let dry. This process will naturally lower your skin's pH.
Instead of apple cider vinegar, use equal parts witch hazel and filtered water for the same effect.

Hello,

Bacne is a terrible problem and I can understand how exactly one feels while dealing with it. My best advice would be to use only cold water while taking bath and not use hot water for bath. This soothes the pores in the skin and reduces skin secretions which otherwise acts as a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Please try this remedy - Always bath using cold water (if difficult due to weather conditions, pls at least ensure you wash your back with only cold water), and after bath let the skin breathe for a while (put clothes on after 15-20 mins). I am sure this will help in at least reducing bacne , if not eliminate it completely. Good Luck dear friends.
