Character descriptions

Han Geum Joo (Choi Soo Young) works as a mechanic in a big company and she is passionate about automobiles. She is known as the woman who drinks better than men as she grew up in an alcoholic family. When she is given another title of 'alcoholic', Geum-ju challenges herself to 'stop drinking'.

 

Seo Eui Joon (Gong Myung) is a successful doctor who will go to a rural village and work at Bocheon Health Center. He was known as a specialist in a prestigious university hospital in Seoul. He spreads awareness that alcohol can ruin life and there, he will get entangled with Han Geum Joo.

Girls Generation's Choi Soo Young and Gong Myung will reportedly work together in a new K-drama.

On August 20, media outlets reported that Choi Soo Young and Gong Myung had been picked to lead the K-drama A Very Common Sense Alcoholic (literal title). 

A Very Common Sense Alcoholic will tell the story of a woman who grew up in a family full of alcoholics and a successful doctor who went to a rural village to work at Bocheon Health Center. 

The upcoming K-drama will be the collaboration work of director Jang Yoo Jung (Honest Candidate and The Bros) and writers Myung Soo Hyun (Monthly Magazine Home) and Jeon Ji Hyun. 

According to reports, the production team is currently busy with the casting and after it is finalized, the filming will officially begin. Reports also revealed that the K-drama will possibly be aired on tvN.

 

Choi Soo Young got the offer to play the role of Han Geum Joo. She works as a mechanic in a big company and she is passionate about automobiles. She is known as the woman who drinks better than men as she grew up in an alcoholic family. 

If Choi Soo Young confirms her casting, Gong Myung will be her next 5urprise member to be partnered with. 

Choi Soo Young was last seen in the 2023 K-drama Not Others with Jeon Hye Jin, Ahn Jae Wook, Park Sung Hoon, Kim Hye Eun, and Seo Ye Hwa. 

Gong Myung on the other hand will portray the role of Seo Eui Joon. He is a successful doctor who will go to a rural village and work at Bocheon Health Center. He is known as a specialist in a huge university hospital in Seoul. He spreads awareness that alcohol can ruin life and there, he will get entangled with Han Geum Joo. 

Meanwhile, this will possibly be the third upcoming K-drama of Gong Myung. He is also expected to star in the new series A Week before I Die and Mercy for None. 

Lovers of the Red Sky was the last K-drama of Gong Myung before he started his military duties. The actor was discharged in 2023 and he is preparing to return with different genres of work.

Gong Myung and Girls' Generation's Choi Sooyoung will be leading the upcoming drama A Very Common Sense Alcoholic, according to recent reports. The drama is being written by Myung Soo Hyun who is also known for projects like A Poem a Day, Monthly Magazine Home and Drinking Solo. Gong Myung and Myung Soo Hyung have also worked together in the 2016 drama Drinking Solo. 

On August 20, it was reported that Gong Myung and Girls' Generation's Sooyoung have been cast in the much-awaited drama A Very Common Sense Alcoholic. Soououng will be taking on the role of Han Geum Ju who is a mechanic in a big company and is often called 'the woman who drinks better than men'. Gong Myung will appear as Seo Eui Joon, a university doctor who comes down to a rural health center. 

 

The drama will tell the story of a woman who is born and raised in an alcoholic family and tries to get rid of alcohol. The project will be directed by Jang Yoo Jung. 

Girls’ Generation is a veteran K-pop group which debuted in August 2007 with the song Into the World. They rose to fame with the 2009 track Gee which is considered a classic. Sooyoung is the vocalist of the group. She has also acted in projects like So I Married An Anti-fan, Run On, Not Others and more. 

 

Gong Myung made his debut as an actor in 2013 with the film, If You Were Me 6. Since then he has appeared in several hit movies and dramas like Extreme Jobs, The Bride of Habeak, Be Melodramatic, The Lovers of the Red Sky, and more. His latest appearance was in the film Citizen of a Kind which was released on January 24, 2024. Jo Yoon Hee may be part of the upcoming K-drama A Very Common Sense Alcoholic (literal title).

On September 4, media outlets reported that actress Jo Yoon Hee would join Girls Generation's Choi Soo Young and Gong Myung in the upcoming K-drama A Very Common Sense Alcoholic. According to reports, she will work closely with Choi Soo Young and be part of her family in the K-drama. 

If Jo Yoon Hee confirms her casting, this will be her follow-up K-drama after the 2024 series The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection. In the series, she made a strong impact by portraying the role of Go Myung Ji. This K-drama was her first comeback after four years of hiatus.

Aside from K-dramas, Jo Yoon Hee also appeared in two films this year. She was part of the movies A Traveler's Needs and Spring Garden. 

Jo Yoon Hee also recently participated in a Chosun entertainment show and revealed her daily life with her daughter for the first time.
