So Ji Sub may be starring in a new drama!

On February 7, Star News reported that So Ji Sub was offered a role in the new drama “Plaza Wars” (working title).

In response to the report, So Ji Sub’s agency 51K Entertainment shared, “So Ji Sub has received an offer to star in the drama ‘Plaza Wars.’ He is currently reviewing the offer, and it is not yet confirmed.”

Based on the webtoon of the same name, “Plaza Wars” depicts the story of two gangs that survived a fight for supremacy in Seoul in front of the National Assembly Plaza in Yeouido. The story centers around a man who begins to uncover secrets after the sudden death of his younger brother.

So Ji Sub starred in various projects including the films “Alienoid” and “Confession” as well as the drama “Doctor Lawyer” in 2022. Anticipation is high for whether he will greet viewers again through this new noir drama.

Gong Myung may be starring alongside So Ji Sub in a new drama!

On July 4, Korean news outlet Ilgan Sports reported that Gong Myung was set to star in the upcoming drama adaptation of the hit webtoon “Plaza Wars.” According to the report, Gong Myung—who recently returned from the military—had been debating between several roles offered to him before ultimately choosing “Plaza Wars” for his first project since his military discharge.

However, later that evening, Gong Myung’s agency Saram Entertainment clarified that while the actor was in talks for the role, he had not yet made an official decision. “Actor Gong Myung has received a casting offer for the drama ‘Plaza Wars,’ and he is currently reviewing the offer with a favorable outlook,” stated the agency.

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Plaza Wars” will tell the story of the two rival gangs that survived a fight for supremacy in front of Seoul’s National Assembly Plaza—and a man who embarks on a hunt for the truth after the sudden death of his younger brother.

So Ji Sub is also currently in talks to star in the upcoming drama.

Actor Lee Jun Hyuk is positively considering a special appearance in 'Gwangjang'. As a result, expectations are gathering whether Lee Jun Hyuk and So Ji Sub will work together as brothers. On the 17th, an official from his agency Ace Factory said that the actor is "positively considering" joining the drama.

 

"Gwangjang" is based on the webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of two organisations that once fought for supremacy in Seoul in front of the Yeouido Parliament Square and survived the battle.

Veteran actor Heo Joon Ho will reportedly join the star-studded cast of the upcoming Netflix K-drama Plaza Wars.

On August 24th, media outlets shared that Heo Joon Ho would be joining So Ji Sub, Lee Bum Soo, and Gong Myung in the upcoming action mystery K-drama Plaza Wars.

Heo Joon Ho's agency Story J Company shared their official statement regarding the news. According to the company, "Our artist Heo Joon Ho received the offer to star in Plaza Wars. The actor is positively reviewing the offer. There's no official confirmation yet."

If Heo Joon Ho confirms his casting, this will be his second Netflix original K-drama since its debut. He also participated in the 2023 action thriller K-drama Bloodhounds led by Woo Do Hwan, Lee Sang Yi, Park Sung Woong, Kim Sae Ron, and Jung Da Eun

Heo Joon Ho is also set to star in the upcoming movies Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman and Noryang: Deadly Sea

The actor is known for being part of the K-dramas Why Her?, Snowdrop, Undercover, Missing: The Other Side, Kingdom, and more.

On October 27, “Mercy for None” revealed the cast lineup consisting of So Ji Sub, Heo Joon Ho, Ahn Gil Kang, Lee Bum Soo, Gong Myung, Choo Young Woo, and Jo Han Chul. Furthermore, the casting lineup teased the special appearances of Cha Seung Won and Lee Joon Hyuk.

Based on a webtoon, “Mercy for None” depicts the story of two gangs that survived a fight for supremacy in Seoul in front of the National Assembly Plaza in Yeouido. The story centers around a man who begins to uncover secrets after the sudden death of his younger brother.

So Ji Sub will transform into the leading role of Gi Jun, the man who slashes his own heel and leaves the world of gangs. Returning to the noir action genre for the first time in 11 years since his film “A Company Man,” So Ji Sub is already raising excitement for his portrayal of Gi Jun’s cold journey for revenge.

“Stranger” and “The Roundup: No Way Out” star Lee Joon Hyuk will make a special appearance in the drama as the role of Gi Jun’s younger brother Gi Seok. After Gi Seok leaves his older brother, he grew his organization Joowoon into a corporation and became an executive director, but he faces a mysterious death, sparking a new case.

Heo Joon Ho will play CEO Lee Joo Woon of the organization Joowoon that Gi Jun was a part of, while Ahn Gil Kang will take on the role of Gu Bong San, the head of the rival organization Bongsan. Hansan: Rising Dragon” and “Extreme Job” star Gong Myung will take on the role of Joon Mo, the successor to Bongsan, which also became a corporation from its origins as a gang like Joowoon.

Choo Young Woo, who impressed through “Police University,” “School 2021,” and “Oasis,” will play the role of Geum Son, the son of Lee Joo Woon who is currently distancing himself from the gang as an incumbent prosecutor. However, he will raise tension within the drama with his unpredictable ambition.

Furthermore, “The Roundup: No Way Out” star Lee Bum Soo will portray Shim Sung Won who seems to be involved in Gi Seok’s death as the CEO of Enclean, which is in charge of cleaning up the scene of the crime that the gangs committed.

Jo Han Chul of “Rebron Rich” and “Casino” will play right hand man Sung Chul who is the closest to the boss Lee Joo Woon.

Actor So Ji Sub will officially return to the K-drama scene with Plaza Wars (Mercy For None).

Netflix announced on October 27 that So Ji Sub will be the main lead of the upcoming noir action K-drama Plaza Wars (Mercy For None) alongside Heo Joon Ho, Ahn Kil Kang, Gong Myung, Choo Young Woo, Lee Bum Soo, Jo Han Chul, and Cha Seung Won. It was also confirmed that actor Lee Joon Hyuk will be making a special appearance in the series. 

Plaza Wars (Mercy For None) is a noir action K-drama that will depict its story from a webtoon of the same name written by Oh Se Hyung and illustrated by Kim Kyun Tae. It will tell the story of Ki Joon, a former gang member, who will dig into the sudden death of his younger brother. 

The upcoming Netflix original K-drama will be directed by Choi Sung Eun (Tong: Memories). The series will be produced by Yong Film and Studio N. 

According to reports, Plaza Wars (Mercy For None) will officially begin filming after the whole casting is finalized. There are no official reports yet on the release date of the K-drama. It will exclusively air on the global OTT platform, Netflix.

Lee Joon Hyuk will portray the role of Ki Seok, the younger brother of Ki Joon. After his older brother left the gang, he was promoted to executive director but one day, he died mysteriously. 

Heo Joon Ho will play the role of Lee Ju Woon, the head of the gang. Ahn Kil Kang on the other hand will play the role of the representative of Bongsan Mountain who will have a confrontation with Lee Ju Woon's gang.

Gong Myung will portray as Jun Mo, the successor of Bongsan Mountain.

Choo Young Woo will be the son of Heo Joon Ho's character named Geum Son. He is an incumbent and ambitious prosecutor. 

Kim Bum Soo will portray the role of the CEO of ENCLEAN named Shim Sung Won. 

Jo Han Chul will portray the role of Sung Cheol, Heo Joon Ho's character Lee Ju Woon's right arm. 

Lastly, Cha Seung Won will give life to the character named Mr. Kim. He is the bridge of the two gangs.

Nam Ki-Joon defeated other gangs through violent battles and the gang grew into a large company, but Nam Ki-Joon decided to leave the gang. His younger brother Nam Ki-Seok (Lee Joon-Hyuk) joined the Joowoon Gang that was led by Lee Joo-Woon (Heo Jun-Ho). The two gangs were rivals. For his brother, Nam Ki-Joon quit the Bongsan Gang by cutting his left Achilles tendon.

11 years later, Nam Ki-Joon lives peacefully and makes a living by suppling drinks to businesses run by Bongsan. His brother Nam Ki-Seok is now the second highest ranked person in Joowoon, but he suddenly dies. In order to reveal the secret behind Nam Ki-Seok’s death and take revenge on those responsible, Nam Ki-Joon goes back to the gang world that he left behind 11 years ago.

I knew that this drama will have a male centric cast but I wonder if there is an important role for an actress. I wish there is one but I don`t know if the writer could come up with a good role for her. We`ll see. But I doubt it. They will focus on violent gangs.

 

I did not know anything about the webton. They will adapt or they will follow the webton ?
