Plot

 

Ra Mi Ran will play Mi Young, detective who used to be the ace of her team until she was forced to put her dreams in the backseat after getting married and having kids. She will be joined by Lee Sung Kyung, who becomes a detective in the serious crimes squad, a job she’s always dreamed about, but her overexcitement about the job causes an accident and sends her to the Public Service Center.

The film will follow them as they unexpectedly find themselves tied up in a crime scene and team up to catch the criminal. Though they bicker with each other constantly, they work together flawlessly when faced with the bad guys.

Ra Mi Ran and Lee Sung Kyung will be teaming up for a fun film!

 

It was confirmed that the two actresses will appear in the upcoming film “Girl Cops” (tentative title). It will be a comic action film where two people working in the Public Service Center find themselves chasing after a crime together.

Ra Mi Ran will play Mi Young, detective who used to be the ace of her team until she was forced to put her dreams in the backseat after getting married and having kids. She will be joined by Lee Sung Kyung, who becomes a detective in the serious crimes squad, a job she’s always dreamed about, but her overexcitement about the job causes an accident and sends her to the Public Service Center.

The film will be helmed by new and upcoming director Jung Da Won, who has been recognized for bringing characters to life through refreshing humor through the film “Garak Market Revolution.” “Girl Cops” will start filming in July after finalizing its cast.

Lee Sung-kyung to feature as detective in ‘Girl Cops’

Lee Sung-kyung will take the role of a detective in the upcoming film “Girl Cops” (working title).

In the comedy-investigative film, Lee co-stars with veteran actress Ra Mi-ran. Taking on the roles of a rookie and a seasoned detective, respectively, the two demoted detectives find themselves accidentally caught up in a major case. 

Rookie director Jung Da-won is to lead the production. He won accolades for “Garak Market Revolution” in 2016, a comedic depiction of ordinary people.

The film will start shooting in July. 

Lee, who debuted as a model, switched to acting in 2014, staring in the drama “It’s Okay,That’s Love.” She is to debut on the silver screen through film “Wrestler,” ready to hit local theaters on May 9.

“Girl Cops” will tell the story of two female detectives who band together to solve a digital sex crime case, where compromising material will be uploaded in 48 hours. The rest of the police force has already given up on the case as unsolvable but the duo are determined to make sure justice is served. Ra Mi Ran plays Mi Young, a legendary detective who returns to the force to solve the unexpected crime and Lee Sung Kyung plays Ji Hye, who isn’t the best detective but is passionate about her job and protecting people.

The film will premiere in May and is already raising anticipation with the release of two film posters. The first shows Ra Mi Ran and Lee Sung Kyung posing with guns in their hands with a fiery backdrop as the tagline reads, “48 hours left, their unauthorized investigation begins!” The other poster shows Ra Mi Ran and Lee Sung Kyung in action as their tagline reads “Investigations are about instinct” and “Investigations are about dedication” respectively.

Lee Sung Kyung Shares Her Thoughts About Working Together With Ra Mi Ran

In the interview, Lee Sung Kyung mentioned the movie that she recently filmed with Ra Mi Ran, “Girl Cops.” “Girl Cops” is about two female detectives who team up to solve a digital sex crime case and is scheduled to premiere in South Korea in May.

“When you think about movies with police detectives, you think of movies that have really tough action scenes,” Lee Sung Kyung said. “I hope that ‘Girl Cops,’ which I worked on together with Ra Mi Ran, can bring the feeling of seeing something new to the audience.”

She went on, “There were obviously some parts where I was lacking during the filming, and Ra Mi Ran really helped me. I’m so happy that I could work with some amazing seniors and have fun while acting. I hope that that sense of fun can transfer to the audience as well.”
