I don't know, I don't think he is evil, but he is morally.... flexible? He's the kind of person who's done everything in life more or less perfectly because that was expected of them. He probably grew up in a rich family with highly educated parents and other family members and learned to perform and obey where he needed to so that he will turn out to be somebody elite and special. This kind of ppl are often swinging between the two extremes of arrogance (no respect for poor ppl, no respect for other ppl at all) and self consciousness (scared of being judged, because they've always acted according to the wishes of someone, envious of carefree ppl) which is a vitious circle. Because being dependent on the opinions of others, they are unhappy despite all they have achieved, and being unhappy, they are angry at those who are happy, especially if those have not done what they were told has to be done growing up, because they can't bear that ppl who should be unhappy (according to what they are taught) because they failed (at things they think are important) are actually happier than them (what did they do all that for then?).

These ppl are not strictly evil, but they are discontent and don't care for others. It's close to evil really.

And about "he fell for her". Really? "We can keep dating after I marry?" Really? Has he no sense of propriety at all? Does he not know what ppl consider right and sensible at all even though he might not care?

I love your explanation! I do feel like he fell for her, if I can take an example from your first paragraph, he still wanted to live a "proper society" life due to social expectations AND keep her as his side piece. He was trying to have it both ways. Of course Ae-ra wasn't having that and had to kick him to the curb. No woman (or anyone) should settle for petty.

I think the landlord lady were the fairy godmother...if sulhee were snowwhite while aerea was cinderella....they both should had wedding were they walk down through their home apartment stair.......

It not like i 100% hate ye jin cause i more hating their bosses who always side on yejin because he know that girl from rich family while looking down sulhee because she from ordinary family....i dont know why i had feeling the kimchi project were from ye jin family conection.

And i know i supposed to hate jong man but maybe due to ahn jae hong bought the character,i kinda understand him. Yep as a girl myself,i hate lie in relationship because from simple lie can turn to big and without knowing reason the relationship start to fade out. Yet i understand when jong man said he dont want sul hee to worries and it only white lie...well guy never understand women feeling....they tough if they said no the others girl will just run away...and i can sense sincerely in jong man word when he said to his family that he might not married sul hee but then he will not married anyone else. And how he get angry at sul hee because she tent to give good stuf to him while she use old/cheap stuff....and when he agry at her due to her kindness get bully by his family...He realy love sul hee for the way she is,but at the same time i know his ego might be hurt sometime when he get all the good stuf from sul hee who sacrife a lot, that why now he made money he want to give more(that what i understand about jong man character.

So next episode we will see if there something happen between dong man and aera i will hate if there news about park hye ran and dong man use to be together or close one...and what happen now since ye jin see jong man and sul hee together...i will hate if one of them make excuses no matter what the reason...why no preview!!!

Episode 7 Thoughts:

Poor DM just couldn't admit yet that he "likes" AR, giving MB the chance to move in on her. But, a jealous DM is so fun to watch:

 ycJmlzh.gif H86AM0s.gif

I really like how they incorporated BoRam into the story, to me it was a totally believable scenario to meet her again like that. RZ8fwjq.gif?1

Continued under the Spoiler tag to stick to the rule of only 3 images per post

Spoiler

MB certainly turned out to the entitled jerk who really hated DM. C1tYE3y.gif   I thought it was funny when he called out his colleague's inferiority complex, considering the huge one he has himself.

DM was right to suspect him all along, MB WAS coming on way too strong and too fast.  The engagement though took me by surprise, I didn't think he was that evil!! It was so sad for AR to find out like that but I really think she handled it with dignity. Ux3Ao3j.gif

I really don't think he had any sincere feelings for AR.  If he could have made AR his mistress, that would have been his ultimate trophy to convince himself of his superiority over DM.  I know that Viki translated the caller in the lobby scene with his colleague as being from his fiance, but I've seen it translated as DM, as well, and I tend to think that is who was really calling because of the huge smirk MB showed when he saw the caller. sh6q2Hr.gif Obviously, I could be wrong, but that is what I see.

I'm so glad that DM was there to support AR. Her knight on a moped. :D  It was so sweet that he knew she wouldn't want to be seen crying and automatically covered her face. LVuWVU2.gif Coupled with the hug, it was the perfect impetus to lead AR to confess her feelings.

Best thing that happened in the episode: MB is OUTTA HERE!!!:glasses:. Best line for me is when they are eating at Coach-nim's food truck and DM says that he wishes AR was a dog because then he could at least keep her on a leash. :)  However, I think the epilogue was the best part of this whole episode.  I still can't stop laughing at it.

BTW: the movie they were watching at the drive-in was "Love, Rosie", a friends to lovers story.  And, according to Dramabeans, the last scene is an homage to a drama called "Jealousy" which is about two friends who keep getting jealous of each other's relationships. http://www.dramabeans.com/2017/06/fight-my-way-episode-7/

A big SHOUTOUT to @jeonghyang for your help in resolving my .gif issues.  Thanks so much!!!!!

He is evil. He is literally amoral. I don't think that he realizes at all that what he did to Aera (and Boram) is wrong. He feels justified because Dong Man made him feel bad in high school - which was clearly not intentional, and Dong Man isn't even aware of it.

He has no ability to know the difference between right and wrong. I think that is the textbook definition of "psychopath."

Wow, that means the writer really thought about everything.  Only those who are alert will understand this.

Episode 8 Thoughts:

So far, this ep. and ep. 4 are my favorites.  This ep. was filled with so MANY great scenes and wonderful moments!

I was pretty sure that DM was AR's first love and that he never figured it out, DOH!!  I liked the flashback scene, with AR spending DM's last night of freedom with him.  I didn't know that Fin.K.L. bread was so I looked it up.  From what I could tell it was named after a girl group of the time with their picture on the packages. This is a CF pic that I found.  If I'm wrong, please someone correct me. 5.png

cr: http://kpopkfans.blogspot.com/2016/03/korean-media-in-1999.html

I also like the FB because it showed that DM has really cared for AR above HR and I love the scene where she notices it. :D dbQZ3yX.gif

The next morning when they are both trying to "look good" for the other and dork DM uses Fabreze to smell good.  SH definitely picks up on something fishy between the two of them.  I loved it when JM asked AR if she was practicing for an eating competition. :)

And AR's out then in again moment was so cute!   8zoo1mT.gif

Spoiler

Then there was DM's original reaction to all of AR's outfits GFQU4DO.gif And then his reaction when forced to give a real opinion and both of their embarrassment :) CVlEC3g.gif

I think maybe the funniest scenes were with Coach-nim and the boys!!  The look Coach-nim gives DM while AR is grilling him X1Zzp2t.gif

The look AR gives Coach-nim when he asks her if she doesn't have somewhere else to be 5douPg0.gif

And then of course the scared looks that both Coach-nim and DM get on their faces when she starts with aegyo are priceless ZJmtdJq.gif

No one can use DM as a punching bag except for AR.  DM knows the crazy is coming and he is not disappointed I6li9YN.gif

That jerk so deserved it, as well as what he gets later on in the ep. We then of course get AR's patented "sorry-ya" at lunch while feeding back the jerk's on words to him. But that comes after she's been humming the theme to Rocky :) 1IkZJCa.gif

I also like SH standing up for herself this ep. When she corrects the awful manager on her name nnU0NYk.gif AFTER kissing JM in the copier area. The intern really needs to grow up.  Calling JM her boyfriend already and taking all those pictures is just out of line.

I kind of wish that SH would have followed through with this instead of imagining it.  qz6epid.gif

I was also really happy that she was honest with JM about how she was feeling while they were sitting at the bus stop.  Not real happy that JM "proposed" that way, but she was.  I think he's sincere in wanting to be supportive, but I'm not really sure he knows how. I think the intern catching them is going to put a kink in their plans C15Ej0e.gif

She's well connected and very spoiled so I can see her pulling some shenanigans.  I think SH and JM are REALLY going to hit a rough patch.

Then, of course, we have DM's debut.  All the moments.

The jerk's arrogance 3Lww5rw.gif and his comeuppance CA6G4cR.gif

The reaction of TS and his gang to the KO 8nhFwK9.gif and Coach-nim's (so sweet!!) C5Fwj7a.gif

Perfection was achieved when DM never looks away from AR and totally ignores HR, yeah!!! nQ6ssUu.gif

Although I'm sure that will only fuel her more.  I wouldn't be surprised if she puts out a statement claiming to be in a relationship with DM or some other nonsense.  With all those reporters there it seems like she cause something to go awry.

And there the last scene with DM and AR.  Lollypip at Dramabeans really summed up exactly how I felt about the scenario:

"Well, just excuse me while I swoon forever. Hoo boy, when Dong-man decides to turn on the charm, he really goes all-out, doesn’t he? He was all business during that fight and all man afterward, no trace of the dumb jock at all. It was so romantic, the way he knew Ae-ra was in the audience without even seeing her face, and he knew that she needed him to reassure her that he was okay. Seeing him fight really does tear her up inside, but it’s proof of how much she cares about him that she was there to support him anyway, even if she couldn’t actually watch and even though it made her miserable. I’m hoping that Dong-man’s declaration that Ae-ra is pretty when she cries is him finally recognizing and accepting his feelings for her." http://www.dramabeans.com/2017/06/fight-my-way-episode-8/

I completely agree with her statements and could not have said it better than myself.  I do really think with DM admitting he's "in trouble" it is the start of the next phase.  Fingers crossed

BTW: Did anyone else notice that when DM and AR are up at the Namil bar that when DM is talking about his strategies to get back at MB, the same music is playing that played in the previous ep. epilogue?

A big SHOUTOUT to @jeonghyang for your help in resolving my .gif issues.  Thanks so much!!!!!

How “Fight My Way” Achieved Remarkable Viewership Rating Success

Fight-My-Way-11.jpg

KBS’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Fight My Way” is a drama with a storyline that isn’t as glamorous as another trendy drama. However, it was able to pull in viewers to achieve impressive ratings of 11 percent after a slow start of 5 percent. Its brand ranking is now third overall and first among dramas.

The most prominent reason why it was able to achieve such success is likely its realism. Many previously dramas relied on the Cindrella complex within viewers for their popularity, but there isn’t a second generation chaebol character in this drama that is so easy to see in other ones. The four main characters in the drama are 29-year-0ld friends who are struggling between their dreams and reality, which are quite different from one another. Everything from their glamorous dream careers to the harsh reality is relatable and realistic.

Gong Hee Jung, a drama critic, said, “Before, dramas portraying the joys and sorrows of underdogs as well as their eventual success were loved. ‘Fight My Way,’ on the other hand, is popular because it takes reality into account and tells its story, not in a depressing or sad way, but in a funny way.” She added, “The stories of the main characters who are fighting their way against reality are relatable to the viewers, who were previously stricken with emptiness after watching romantic comedy dramas with second generation chaebols as main characters.”

The excellent scriptwriting and directing of the drama are also part of the reason for the drama’s popularity. The staff have taken to producing the drama after a solid understanding of the main characters’ emotions, and wrote lines that are natural and alive. This is very different from what is common in previous dramas.

The actors themselves are also able to relate to the characters, which is integral to the drama’s success. Park Seo Joon plays Go Dong Man in the drama, a tick exterminator who once dreamt of being a taekwondo athlete. The actor mused about his past, saying, “I left the military with dreams of being an actor, but I was met with the harsh wall of reality and realized that my existence in the world was like a particle of dust.” He added, “I was able to relate to the line that said, ‘Even if I don’t have a dream, the world goes on turning just fine.'” Kim Ji Won plays Choi Ae Ra, a character who works at an info desk at a department store but dreamt of becoming a news anchor. She said, “I think I can relate to my character in how she found her way in life. I am focusing on those parts when I’m acting.”

Lee Gun Joon, the chief producer of KBS, said, “Since our society nowadays is struggling with youth unemployment and difficulty finding permanent jobs, the viewers are able to relate to stories of youth who have dreams but are defeated by reality.” He explained, “While there were lots of dramas recently with lawyers, doctors, and chaebols as main characters, this is a drama that deals with everyday life, and is especially popular among viewers in age groups between 20 and 49 years old.”

Yes! That part was funny. Here is a link to the 90's cartoon the song is from:

I guess I'm one of the few people, if there are any, who have not been fooled my YJ's act. She's so fake and pretends to be clueless. I peeped her game when she made the passing comment about SH's knockoff sweater, but pretended cluelessness. I hope that no one thinks that her behavior is in any way justified. She is sexually harassing JM. Sadly, her terrible behavior is being swept under. Nobody is that clueless. It's all an act imo, and her true personality is going to be revealed. Just like MB

Ep 8 was great! Agree with many, best episode so far.

My first comments are about JM and SH: I have not backread your posts so maybe someone else brought these up in previous posts ... that scene at the bus stop with JM and SH, towards the end... As he moved closer to her on the bench, held her hand to appear as to publicly declare his affection towards SH -- ohh like a perfect 3 pointer basketball shot, just a few mm short of perfection and the ball bounces off the rim! -- when he gave her yet another "condition" for finally marrying her or declaring his undying love for her.  Perhaps things have evolved that he's no longer into her as much as he was in the beginning. Things change, feelings change. JM should be honest with himself and with SH. It seems like he's pushing the envelope with all of his conditions and she's going along with it and the stakes are getting higher and higher.

That last scene with DM and AR after his fight.. DM is all of us! We are all in trouble.. with episode after episode display of his amazingly hot body. Give me a break it's almost 100F where I live.. just thinking about the AC/ electric bill.. omg, lol. Not even going to think about their upcoming kisses --
