Korean cable channel Mnet will launch the biggest girl group project we have seen so far this year. 

According to a music industry official, Mnet has been secretly been preparing a debut project called PRODUCE 101 that is set to launch this September.

 

PRODUCE 101 will be Korea’s first multi-agency girl group project to ever take place as 101 female trainees are chosen from different agencies to compete against one another with the TOP 10 trainees forming a unit group and debut. 

 

The project will take place over the course of a year and the winning trainees will win the chance to not only debut, but temporarily promote under Mnet until they are able to debut under their own label.

 

Undoubtedly, there has been a peaking interest in trainee survival programs such as Who Is Next: WIN, MIX & MATCH, NO.MERCY, and currently, SIXTEEN. However, PRODUCE 101 is the biggest yet as over 90 trainees will be dropped during the year-long competition.

Watched E01 and E02. You can really feel the tension of the girls when they first met each other. They're sizing up each and every members. And you can really see that the air of members from the big companies are really different.

So far the girls from Jellyfish Entertainment and Fantagio are doing great. And I'm also rooting for that one member from Red Line Entertainment. The one who was trained to be an actress and the musical actress as well. I cannot remember their names though...

Kim Sohye Addresses Rumors of Favoritism on “Produce 101″

Trainee Kim Sohye denies having any connection to the producers of Mnet‘s “Produce 101.”

On the March 11 broadcast of the show, the trainees are given the chance to relay their thoughts and suggestions to the show’s production team.

When it’s Kim Sohye turn to speak up, she immediately goes, “I’m not playing any sneaky games.” Addressing the generous amount of footage about her in each episode, she emphasizes, “That’s not something I can decide. I’m not ‘Mnet’s Daughter.’”

Some netizens believe that Mnet is favoring Kim Sohye over other trainees, particularly those from other small agencies. Many are now calling her ‘Mnet’s Daughter.’

“Also, ['Produce 101' producer] An Joon Young is not even married yet. Honestly, that’s not it. We’re not connected to each other,” Kim Sohye denies all rumors of favoritism during the interview.

Meanwhile, Kim Sohye’s agency Red Line Entertainment is taking actionagainst netizens spreading rumors and making malicious comments about her.

It was surprising that a number of trainees who were in Top 11 before were pushed back (the winner benefit is a big help for the trainees). I guess it was the effect of resetting the score completely. Even the no. 1 spot changed as well. It's getting interesting. Looks like Han Hye Ri as a number of fans. I'm not really into her voice.
