New variety program ‘New Journey To The West’ to be streamed online for now

The cast members of new tVN variety program ‘New Journey to the West,’ Lee Seung Gi, Kang Ho Dong, Lee Soo Geun, and Eun Ji Won, left this morning (August 6th) for filming in the Chinese city of Xi’an.

The program team revealed, “We only intended to stream the program online. No decision has been made about airing it on television. We will decide again when we have finished filming.”

Not much else is known about ‘New Journey To The West’ other than the fact that it will be shot outdoors. The program also sees the reunion of Na Young Suk PD with the four cast members from their previous variety program ‘One Night Two Days.’

‘New Journey To The West’ is expected to greet viewers sometime later this month, or early next month.

The cast of upcoming variety show 'New Journey to the West', Lee Seung Gi, Kang Ho Dong, Eun Ji Won and Lee Su Geun head to China for filming

The anticipation towards upcoming tvN variety show 'New Journey to the West' is very high to say the least. That's because the cast members of this show include the original cast members of '1 Night 2 Days'.

 

Yes that's right, if you didn't know already, the cast members are Lee Seung Gi, Kang Ho Dong, Eun Ji Won and Lee Soo Geun as well as the former '1 Night 2 Days' director Na Young Seok! Talk about a reunion!

 

The cast left Korea for Xi'an, China on August 6 to film their upcoming show.

 

CJ E&M's side told 'Sports Chosen', "The filming location for the 'New Journey to the West' team is in Xi'an in China. We don't know if there will be a change of location, but all of the filming will be in Xi'an with no filming in Korea."

This show actually won't be aired on TV but will be released online. 'New Journey to the West' is expected to be released at the end of this month or the beginning of September.

Oh my heart! This is just what I need for a tough week! OB - YB in action! You can sense the looks of excitement, trepidation and conviction on their faces! I am loving the pics although on the one hand it would be cool to just watch everything unfold in the edited show. However, knowing the heightened expectation for this reunion I doubt they'd have been able to avoid the mob. Just look at those presents Seunggi received! Kang Hodong always gracious with fans. A big thanks to AnnMichelle for always bringing us fun and touching fan accounts!

 

At the request of Lianman, this is my fan account of greeting Seung Gi at the Xi’an airport.

First a disclaimer, I was a student of science. Although I graduated already, I am still a science gal through and through. So please don’t expect great literature from me.

The night before, because I was about to see him in person, I was too excited fall asleep.
In the morning, woke up with dark circles almost rivaling Cho-ding’s! But that did not affect my good moods at all.

I arrived at the airport just after 10 AM. Lo and behold, met the legendary Lianman. Such a gentle and nice girl. She came from faraway Shanghai (an overnight train ride, sitting up all the way!), but managed to be ahead of me, a local (I was ashamed). Wow!

Later other Chinese fans arrived as well. Qingtian was so pretty I could not help but keep looking at her. We started to sort through the presents. Even with the limited time, LSG Tieba fans had prepared precious presents. And let me boast a bit, some were bought by yours truly!

Okay, enough with all the mumble jumble and let’s get to the point. Are you happy?

Initially he had not stepped out. But through the glass doors, we saw him already so we waved frantically. He saw us and waved back. At a distance, baseball cap backwards, his suitcase in tow, he looked so handsome! How come a person can look so good even in silhouette…

Finally, he walked through the doors amid enthusiastic screaming from Airens. He wore the same outfit as in Incheon airport, but with sunglasses and the cap. Tall and slim, yet with soft, white skin, so delectable! And his signature smile! I got dizzy already. This was my first time seeing him in person. My brains just went totally blank. He shook hands with almost everyone. Took the presents without a care about their weight.

After that the staff would not allow us to follow. We just watched him get on the escalator and chat and laugh with HD, JW, and SuG. I felt warm inside. I guessed HD was making jokes about his fans being everywhere. Then I saw him smile so happily. We waved goodbye to him at the foot of the escalator. Good-bye! Gradually, the famous Sam-Ryong smile was disappearing from my view. I was so reluctant to leave. I even yelled “Oppa, fighting!” Wow, I really risked all my dignity.

The fact being that I saw him with my very own eyes, why I could not conjure up an image of his face? I believed a lot of airens felt the same. We were just too overcome by emotions. I made a pledge to myself: next time I would just stare and stare at his face.

This was about the extent of my fan account. After all, it was a brief encounter. If I have the opportunity, I will definitely go to his concert or fan meeting. Then I can take a good and long look at him all I want.

Some extra anecdotes:

One, before Seung Gi came out of the terminals, some Korean tourists came out first and passed us. They saw our hand held banners, smiled knowingly, nodding their head saying “Lee Seung Gi.” Some ajummas even told us that Seung Gi was right behind. Every time someone recognized our signs, we gave a happy cheer. I had planned to be a quiet and rational fan; however, by then I was not controllable by any reasoning. I am ashamed to report that I screamed louder than anyone!

Two, after Seung Gi stepped out, HD followed. A big face suddenly showed up in my vision. I was stunned for about a second. Then I turned my head to look at Seung Gi. The comparison…ah, our Seung Gi was really good looking…(Sorry, HD ajusshi!)

This apparently happened after filming, so it shouldn’t be a spoiler. But on the other hand, I do want to watch this footage!

 

After filming at the night market last night, SeungGi came here to buy some food. He actually communicated entirely in Chinese!!! He ordered stir-fried noodles, but with a mix of ho fun and thin (egg?) noodles, and also fried rice. He then asked, “How much is it in total?” And his Chinese was amazingly good! It seems that for a foodaholic like SeungGi, ordering food in Chinese is already a piece of cake!
