little mixed girl
uh, no. the 100,000 bank notes do NOT need any sort of signature or ID number. they are legal tender, and can be transferred from person to person freely without restriction. they are official currency, the only difference is that they first originated from the bank as opposed to the national treasury. i honestly don't know where you guys are pulling your information from. i dunno where you are getting your info from. reglardless of which, the regular soompi poster who is in korea for a short period of time is not going to get handed a 100,000won note. i did all of my money exchanges at woori bank and they never gave me 100,000won. when i took money out of the atm, and i wanted 100,000won it came out in 10,000won notes. i'm saying that regular american soompi person is not going to get 100,000won notes without going through some hassle. Guest Majah Flavah
i dunno where you are getting your info from. i'm getting my info from having lived there for an extended period. i visit twice every year since i moved to the states. hopefully that makes me qualified just a little bit more than you to be correcting some of the things you guys are saying in this thread. getting a 100,000 note is as easy as going to any multi-branch bank (such as woori) and trading ten 10,000 bills for it, without any transaction fees attached. quite similar to going to any wachovia or suntrust next to your house and asking them to change your ten 10's into a hundred. as for the atm not giving you a 100,000 note, even american ATMs do not give you a $100 bill; they usually give you five $20 bills. that's just how ATMs work, regardless if you're in america or korea. go to your nearest ATM and prove me wrong. of course woori bank isn't going to give you a 100,000 note unless you specifically request it - after all, it is a bank note, not a treasury-distributed bill. only those that are unknowledgeable about korea's monetary system will probably carry a pocket full of 10,000 bills. k1D3Ck
Is anyone going to Yonsei in Fall 2006?? Um, I am going to SNU during the spring 07, but if things dont work out, I might head over to Yonsei. And Maja, she simply didn't know. And you never stated till now, that you had to ask for it. Me, I knew about larger notes since thats what I used, till I got tired of carrying money around and open an account so I can simply swipe the card and carry only small bills. Guest ilikestupid
To transfer to Yonsei or Seoul what GPA should you have? I know you only need a 2.5 or 3.0 or something like that but for actually having a reasonable chance for an international student to get accepted what do you need? And for people who actually got accepted, what were your GPAs?

theedqueen
I'm interested in going to Yonsei for the summer in 2007 and was wondering, since I'm not planning on staying long term, would you reccomend bringing a laptop? Do they have computer labs that are easily accesible and possibly in English? I'm just paranoid about something happening to my laptop while overseas. Also, how much luggage did you all bring with you? Just curious... If anyone's going to Yonsei for the summer next year, I'd love to know. It'd be awesome to have a buddy I'm so scared of going alone

k1D3Ck
For international or study abroad, Ehwa is for both males and females. My sister just returned from studying abroad from there and said it was great. She had a blast and made some great friends. Also, alot more classes there are taught in english, and the dorms are good from what I saw. Another thing, since there are 4 other schools really close by, made night life really fun. Guest Jinu86
Mmmmm I went to Study at yonsei last summer...'05 best time of my life... I was there for about 3 months.... aha soju everyday clubbing every weekend and jjajjang myun everyday ahaha.... was good... It helps A LOT if you are semi fluent in korean.... no doubt... If u plan to go there don't live in the Muak dorms.... soo far and up that lonnggggggg/biiiiggg hill..... err as for the korean americans and non koreans... everyone got a long fine when i was there... actually i think the non koreans had more fun than the korean americans.... some korean americans though... seemed more ignorant of their own culture than the non koreans.... I'd say do it if you wanna its a lot of fun... credit transfers buttt.... I forgot to get my evaluation form so mine never did... ahaha... oh well best time of my life.. Guest aznfury
damn i guess i applied too late ... i didn't get into the DIEE at Yonsei this summer coz it was full. However, I did get into Ajou University for the summer in Suwon just south of Seoul. Kinda disappointed but oh well better than nothing
little mixed girl
how did you manage to carry that all with you? haha you can do it. if you're coming from the airport and you don't have someone to pick you up, go to the bus counter outside of the airport. ignore the taxi drivers!!! tell the ticket guy that you need to go to yonsei university. it costs like 8,000won to ride the airport bus. then when u get there, catch a taxi to the international house. the taxi is maybe 3,000won. that way your luggage gets there OK...but then you have to drag it into the dorm & up to your room...that sucks!
