The ancient Chinese, too, referred to Korea as the “land of wise men where the mugunghwa blooms.”

The name"moogoongwha" was first used by the poet Lee Gyu-bo (이규보,1168 – 1241) of the Goryeo Dynasty.

In 2012, Lee Min Ho did the sageuk period drama "The Faith" set in the Goryeo Dynasty era. He was Choi Young, the Commanding Captain/General of Wooldachi Army, a Royal Guard that personally protect the King of Goryeo.
