I dont know why its so important to you.

Why some non-Asian wearin Asian clothes are labelled as wasians?

If I see Asian walking on the street wearin some clothes made by white ppl I dont think "LMAO WHAT WANNABE, such a loser haha noob go away..."

If I see Asian guy dating white girl I dont firstly think "wtf, asian guy dating white girl. What a wannabe". If theyr happy together then that is what matters.

Same comes to music, if asian listens music played by whites I dont think hes wannabe. Why would I?

I dont know why its so big deal.

Of course its annoying if someone starts to speak some weird mini cooper to you and really wants to be asian. Well that is wasian to you.

But normal ppl who likes to listen Asian music are immediately labelled as wasians..... weird.

wow.. when you say the word wasian out here.. its 50% ppl think you're talking about white/asian mix and other 50% thinks wanna be asians.. u__u and this thread is really racist and some people are very ignorant...

human flaw ftl.

-i've never been called wasian or wanna be korean/japanese or whatever .. i've just been called a fob when i dress a certain way.. *shrugs* then again im from NorCal and we're pretty open-minded and theres an abundance of ethnicities (khmer, mien, hmong, laos, russians etc) & im from Sacramento (which is one of the nation's most diverse city.. u see korean/black, viet/chinese, laos/black, mexican/hmong and so on and so forth every day and its considered the norm. so we dont really judge ppl in the way everyone else is saying)

if we see someone that dates korean guys only and mimic korean culture we would coin them "korean-washed" or something of that sort but its not an insult for not being yourself but more of "this person loves the korean culture and we accept it"

oh and gothic lolita=japanese fashion..helloooooooooo MANAAAAAAAAA created the EGL style of lolitas (which i adore) the japanese started the GL fashion with influences from the europeans.. if you know anything about the rococo era/romantic era.. colors were light and with a romantic hue.. aka light colors and pink which meant that they werent wearing a lot of black

lolita might have came from outside of japan but gothic lolita fashion is sure as hell every bit japanese.

1-hey i eat almost everything with chopsticks if its meant to be eaten with an utensil and if its reasonable (id eat salad with chopsticks if its with other food that i need to use chopsticks for and i eat hot cheetos with chopsticks but i wouldnt eat steak with chopsticks unless i have rice and the steaks all cut up into small pieces)

2-my best friend and i are also huge otaku but no one has ever insulted us for being up in the japanese culture.

I'm Caucasian, and I try not to be a 'Wasian'.

But, I remember watching Sailor Moon when I was little and I suppose that got me into the Asian culture.

As for the phrases 'Konichiwa', 'Arigatou', 'kawaii' etc, I don't use those in a conversation, however, I'm learning Japanese at college and I'm not doing it for the sake of being a 'wapanese'

I'm doing it to broaden my understanding of different countries and cultures. I find the western culture quite boring. haha

It all started with Dragon Ball Z for me...

To quote Wikipedia...

I really don't understand your logic. Lolita is not 100% European, the Japanese put their own special twist on it and then called it Lolita. For example, a style of Lolita, Gothic Lolita, mixes Gothic Japanese fashion with Lolita fashion. The Gothic Japanese style has origins from the English New Wave movement of the 1980's but over time it had evolved into its own unique style found only in Japan, courtesy to the Japanese people who helped it evolve.

This is just like what happened to Lolita. The Japanese took the original fashions from the Victorian/Rococo eras and adapted it, adding some unique Japanese twists into the style that is known today. Gothic Lolita was not taken from the Victorian/Rococo era, it developed in Japan, thus making it somewhat "Japanese". (The same goes for any other Lolita style.)

First of all Wiki should not get involved since it's a biased and non reliable site,

second, Lolita is purely european, not trying to be offensive, but Lolita only became popular in japan

it's just something they like, it doesnt belong to them in anyway.

You might as well say rap isn't black music, or any of the stuff you see black people in america doing/wearing, cause it most likely came from somewhere else.

omgz everyone needs to just shush!

white ppl who speak random words in teh asian language, SPECIFICALLY kawaii, konnichiwa, arigatou or sumfink korean like oppa, are LAME and rather infelicitous

It's like saying why do people like to listen to Jazz music that doesn't have lyrics, because people like how it sounds. Also, you could ask Koreans who don't speak English why they listen to American music.

Wasians... interesting people. I've had a few experiences with them and I'll admit, they can get a bit annoying. The ones at my school are very squeaky and loud and whenever they see Pocky, they chase the person who has it. It's kind of embarrassing to be around them.

Hey it could be worse...you could claim your *insert percentage" of a race (in this case of Asian ethnicity) and diss and use racist slurs about you Asian side...and majority would think there *insert percentage" Asian. because of a stupid popular movie....XD oh and tell you your not part because you don't follow a stero type....that is annoying!! XD

Japan, Korean, Chinese etc. ophiles are what bother me..cause I can't help wondering "what would they be like if the (pop) culture they are obsess with wasn't popular?"

or when they think there a reincarnation of an anime character that was made 2 years ago. XD

I also read that there are some people out there that want to adopt Japanese kids, just because there Japanese......wheres the love???

Wikipedia does not have the highest reputation, but that article (along with many others on Wikipedia) has many references and outside sources.

Lolita is not purely European; you could not find the same dresses and clothing worn if you went back in time to the Victorian/Rococo eras. Just because the Lolita style in Japan has heavy European influences does not make it completely foreign to Japan.

I never denied that, but I'm just saying it's not Japan's fashion to claim

it doesnt go anything further than popularity in japan.

I remember someone here on soompi clearly saying "Lolita should be left for japanese and asian in general"

and I was like  It makes me laugh when people say someone dressing Lolita is trying to be japanese.

I'm not even going to go any further with this, I stand by what I said

Lolita does not belong to japanese people.

about the lolita thing. Lolita is not japanese, Goth culture it's not japanese but those two concepts were brought up together in Japan. So I think you're both right girls.

About the Wasian thing. Well... the people you were discribing I wouldn't say they are wasians, they're just freaks to me. Whether they're anime freaks, japan freaks, porn freaks, anything else freaks. They're all the same to me and I agree that they're annoying. But saying that wearing clothes made in Japan/Korea, eating asian food, driving a Toyota it's being a wasian.... erg... okay yeah no comments v.v Also saying such a things like "kpop for Korean"... Geeze people already got over this debate years ago and some persons bring back this subject. How retarded could they be.
