아역배우 고주연이 드라마 ‘눈의 여왕’에서 현빈의 꼬마 연인으로 나섰다.

고주연은 영화 ‘청연’에서 어린 장진영을 맡아 주목받은데 이어, 최근 영화 ‘구미호 가족’에서 엉뚱하고 엽기적인 막내 구미호로 열연을 펼친 아역 연기자. 실제 나이는 13살의 초등학생이지만 신비롭고 성숙해 보이는 외모와 영화에서 선보인 안정된 연기로 ‘눈의 여왕’에 전격 캐스팅 됐다.

극중 현빈의 상대역인 성유리가 연기하는 보라의 어린 시절을 맡아 고등학생 현빈과 호흡을 맞출 예정. 캐스팅 초반엔 함께 호흡을 맞춰야하는 현빈과 나이차가 많다는 우려가 있었지만 카메라 앞에서 타고난 여왕의 카리스마를 선보여 우려를 단숨에 불식시켰다는 게 제작진의 후문.

드라마 연출을 맡은 이형민 PD는 “어린 보라는 극의 드라마적 환상을 만들어주는 매우 중요한 캐릭터”라며 “고주연이 나이는 어리지만 당차다. 같이 밤샘 연습을 진행한 적이 있는데, 어리지만 진지하게 보라의 외로움을 누구보다 잘 표현해 냈다”고 밝혔다. 이어 "고주연은 감성이 풍부한 연기자라"라는 아낌없는 칭찬을 덧붙였다.

현재 국내에서 촬영이 한창 진행 중인 미니시리즈 ‘눈의 여왕’은 ‘미안하다 사랑한다’로 2004년 백상예술대상 작품상을 수상한 이형민 PD가 연출하는 신작. 안데르센의 동화 ‘눈의 여왕’에서 모티브를 따온 미니시리즈로 절망적인 상황에 처한 두 남녀가 운명적 사랑을 통해 진정한 자아를 발견하는 내용을 다룬 판타지 멜로이다.

방송전까지 50% 이상의 사전 제작을 목표로 하고 있으며, 오는 크리스마스 시즌에 맞추어 안방극장에 공개될 예정이다.
