I was rambling last night how I suddenly remembered a not-so-positive movie review made by a professional movie critic on Last Present that I've read so long ago. I think this was why I kept waiting.. and keeping the movie aside.. until the lovely girls here shared wonderful comments about the movie. I love reading reviews (personal & prfessional ones), a habit stuck... though I tried not to be influenced by the reviews but somehow... they do... uhh... kinda get to you... sometimes. :sweatingbullets: But contrary to what the reviewer said... aish.. it's at koreanfilm.org, no less... I love Last Present. It's a sweet & beautiful love story. There's something 'ordinary' yet refreshing about it. I mean.. we would usually tend to think that an entertainer's (albeit a small-time comedian) life would be smooth and happy all the time like their onscreen personas but no, life is no bed of roses. It's nothing different from.. say.. a teacher's... an office-worker... or a housewife's life.. etc. They are all people with families... with or without parents, with kids to bring up or even who had lost their child, getting sick and dying somewhere... sometime. It's all part of our daily lives, ups and downs because it happens to someone if not us, ourselves. Of course, the movie have its dramatic moments but I simply saw LJJ and LYA as another ordinary couple, with a story to tell... having problems of their own and eventually getting over them, their way.

Moral of the story: read movie reviews for the fun and the additional info, if any... but watch it with your own eyes & heart to know your own opinion. :D

you're welcome Rubie dear for the pics...there are lots of pics that are waiting to be posted for sure ^ ^

I also love reading reviews for Movies and TV Shows...like you it's my basis if a movie or TV drama is worthwhile to watch...sometimes when I'm an engrossed watching a movie or TV program I sometimes write reviews myself...I just write it in my blog...but anyway reading your reviews or opinions make me realize the diverse characters that LJJ can play....^ ^ he's a very versatile actor and I respect and love him for that...

Ripgal...LJJ is starring with Yoo Ji-tae with the MOB movie you posted...I didn't saw it in his filmography either...

Shenny...I really love those AC caps you posted as well as the 7 faces of LJJ...those were really cute...I think I can survive watching AC if it's just for LJJ and Choi Ji-woo I could bear with it..

I'll be looking out for LJJ and Kim Ok-bin's movie as well ^ ^

here are more LJJ pics that I have...I just can't get enough of this guy...

koalabear ^ that old CF pic, LJJ-ssi was and still dorky as ever. Sexy dorky. And our ripgal is definitely having LJJ dork-fever, really high temp and totally incurable. :P Wonder is she's still playing that AC sexy scene again and again?

Haven't checked for LJJ updates yet... hope there's something later but .. a bit of OT on OTR.. Over the Rainbow's actor, Jung Chan (also in Lovers, recently). He's the one playing Sang In, LJJ's best friend in OTR. I read about him in the Lovers thread before... remembering that I actually saw him in a very old series, Angel in My Heart some years ago. Anyway, there's an interesting article on him at the News thread.

I'll try to get over the scenes by watching other dramas first..hehehe..

Koala, thanx for the info on the movie. No wonder that guy looked so familiar when I saw the pic..it's Yoo Ji Tae..hehhee.. And also for the dorky pics of LJJ...smiles are irresistable..

^ Welcome to the LJJ frenzy thread. :)We might be small, but we speak volumes..at least that's what I do all the time. My posts are sooooo very long..^_^I've seen 6-7 movies of LJJ..And all of them were very good, esp those romantic/funny/sad ones.. I didn't like his action movies as much as his melo/romantic movies. He was superb in all of them..

Romantic/Sad/Funny Movies - MUST WATCH

Over The Rainbow - gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling.. LJJ's sooo adorable here

Oh! Brothers - a movie about 2 brothers with totally different personalities.. it's my 2nd fav movie of LJJ. Loved his character here the most..very goofy and cheeky.

Last Present - This is my fav movie of LJJ starring Lee Young Ae too..yeah the actress from Dae Jang Geum. You can check the previous page for my comments on this movie..I was truly stunned by LJJ's performance here. He was just dang..I don't even know how to describe it now..

Other movies

Typhoon

The Last Witness

An Affair - this movie is meant for 18++ hahaha..you will know by reading thru some comments in the previous pages..

From the AC thread..The Kissing NG

Omo :w00t: the kissing NG! hahaha.. Last night I suddenly had the urge to search for this clip,

Koala darling, I love episode 13 especially those cute flirty scenes so much, I'm still watching it on the daily basis from time to time nowadays, hahaha.. ^^

antisocialnot, like Jo said, there are sooo many of his past movies, but yeah, top three are Over the Rainbow, Oh Brothers, and Last Present :) Not forgetting of course the classic and blockbuster ones, Il mare & Typhoon, which I also enjoyed very much.

I've been meaning to watch "Interview", and got to about 10 mins of watching, but the storyline is quite weird.

it's like they're interviewing lots of people, asking them different questions here and there, and in that less than 10 mins I watched, there aren't as many LJJ scenes as expected. But perhaps I should continue on watching and see how it goes, or how it ends lol.

You have no idea how much I've been wanting to watch Oh! Brothers, but I ain't got no time! I swear, 24 hours a day minus sleeptime, work and school is just not enough for me. But anyhow, yeah.. you gotta add Il Mare to the MUST WATCH list (even if you're not LJJ fan), just because it has gone down as one of the classics (funny, since it's not by any means, old). And I have to admit that I am not one of Jeon Ji Hyun's big fans (yeah, yeah, I'm probably the only one), but still the movie has its unique charm, and LJJ was just as captivating as ever.

Thank you gals for the massive pics-flooding. <3

I read that review too long ago and so disagree with it. I love Last Present. The first time I watched it, I was so mad because the VCD I bought turned out to be Chinese-dubbed. Arrgghhh! It was agonizing to hear LJJ 'speak' Chinese. Still, I watched it to the end and loved it. Then a good pal sent me the DVD version with Korean audio and English subs. Heaven!

Of all the LJJ movies that I've watched, Last Present was the most discomfiting. It was very hard to see the couple's relationship deteriorate because of all their misunderstandings. I thought LJJ was magnificent as the struggling comedian. The first time I watched LYA was in Joint Security Area so I was shocked to see her as this frumpy woman in Last Present. I watched this movie so long ago and have forgotten many scenes but I remember it made me laugh and cry. It's not my most favorite LJJ role but it showed me how versatile he is as an actor. I'm watching Feelings now and he's so adorable. You can't tell it's his debut drama!

Loving all the pics and caps posted. Thank you!!

oh i always thought that Last Present was like the top ten must see of melodrama genre kmovie. ~..

honestly , my first movie of lee young ae was JSA but her performance was not really so dazzingly as the rest of the cast .in JSA and soon later . i watch Last Present ...i still rem it till now .. that scene of them both sleeping on the same pillow reduce me into uncontrollable tears ..~ i was hugging my own pillow and weeping [ if i rem correctly there was this scene how the doctor asked him .that she must have suffered pains and strange that he never heard her ..that one really twisted my heart .] ...i never realise how two person can be so close yet they never realise each other pains and agony .how far apart can one couple be in a marriage . it take so much to just break that wall ..

the japanese did a jdrama version of Last Present .i wasnt sure how it did ..

Oh so LJJ know KMH since Ruby Shoes. Have anyone since this movie by the way?

Synopsis

Woo-in is a government worker in a town office. His work consists of simple tasks like petty paperwork, making sure garbage

is separated properly, the distribution of tax notices etc. Away from his family and not very social, his days are lonely and weary. The only thing Woo-in immerses himself in is internet websites, every night. He opens the many websites there for his disposal, and shrugs off the loneliness of the long night. One night, a woman appears in his sight. She is Mia, the teacher’s assistant in the town office’s cooking class. Woo-in feels a strong pull towards her. He steals frequent glances and follows her. And he finds a new site where he can pick his ideal woman and watch her slightest moves. He matches her to Mia’s face, her eyes, nose, lips… Woo-in creates his ideal. And in front of him appears Asako… “Welcome to my world.”

this taken from http://www.koreanfilm.or.kr/

from what i recall abt the movie ..the sites he like to surf are mostly porn website so he is kinda of a pervert in a sense ..and while he stalk this girl play by kim min hee ..he found a internet site where ..he can pick his ideal woman and .monitor her on the PC ..and i do recall there are scenes of him watching her endlessly through the PC ...the woman he watches is in Japan ..a girl by the name of Aya i think she was trying to reach a place ..so that why she need the money or something ... the story crosses between Japan and korea ..

it was something i caught on TV .very long time back ..it was kinda of slow paced ..so ..er .i termed it as abit too arty ..it is directed by E J-yong who is also the director for An Affair , Asako in Ruby Shoes...is his second movie .

...actually he nearly wanted to work with lee jung jae for his third movie Untold Scandal but then LJJ management office decided not to take the project though i think LJJ wanted it ...

==

i have a making of for OH Brothers ..it was very cute ~ when they went buying shoes together ^

Oh boy, shirl, LJJ in Untold Scandal with Lee Mi-sook and Jeon Do-yeon would be FANTASTIC!! :w00t: Alas, it didn't happen. :tears: I heard Asako in Ruby Shoes is really bad. :vicx: I haven't watched it though. Is it worth watching?

Shenny, I watched the first 15 minutes of Interview and it made me so sleepy I stopped. Returned the set to my friend. This was ages ago too.

~ oh brothers ..lol vastly entertaining movie.~ ! ..LBS was amazing in the role ~ ..it was fun to have LJJ with him in the movie .

^^ ya . the one with BYJ , intially LJJ was suppose to be in that role .er then i rem there were some talks about image issues so the management company decided not to let LJJ take the role ..oohh . there this interview by the director which speaks of this

http://www.koreanfilm.org/ejyong.html

How did you do the casting? Did you have these actors in mind from the beginning?

Five years ago when I first came up with the project, I had Lee Mi-sook in mind for the role of Lady Cho. I had also worked with Lee Jung-jae, but in 1998 I thought he might be too young for the role. But then by last year when we were ready to start shooting, he had grown older, so I thought of casting him. He wanted to take the role, but his management company wouldn't allow him to do it, because it was a risky project. Also, actors make a lot of their income from TV commercials, but the image from this film doesn't fit the image needed for the commercials, and they refused. So I had to find another main actor.

shirley, thanks for the making of Oh Brothers! <3

I have Asako in Ruby Shoes, but no subs.... so your lil summary will help to understand the glimpse of the story... :)

Oh, and even though LJJ wanted the role (perhaps? who knows), but I'm SO very glad LJJ didn't do "Untold Scandal" phew.

*chuckles* in historical custome, with that kind of role, and omg... did anyone see Untold Scandal? ;p

there's this one scene that's really bothering me lol... thank goodness it's not LJJ.

Wow, sounds like you're living such a hectic life, dear.. luckily you'll have that 8+ hours to lurk around soompi and of course, LJJ's thread is such a revival thread nowadays, after AC started airing haha.. XD

I just wanna say, IL MARE is an absolute, a must-see, a requirement for all LJJ fans/newbie fans, and non-fans.

I'm also NOT Jeon Ji Hyun's fans, ever, yeah, I don't see the gogo-gaga over her :| and up until now, still wondering why "My Sassy Girl" is such a famous movie :|

But for Il Mare and Daisy (both featured by her), because of LJJ and the storyline itself, it's no wonder why Il Mare is such a success. This is a phenomenal movie. Certainly not to be missed!

(I even like this better than the hollywood remake one, even though Keanu Reeves is l.o.v.e.)

lol thunder~ okay i feel more safe since i not the only one who er did not have good memories of this movie . .~ ..it cant get me focus ..it has too much silent shots and er ..LJJ does look like a nerd in here lol .and he keep staring and logging into that PC and watching the woman .. .and since it was not my DVD or anything so i er ended up switching channel abit -and find to my "horror " er the scene seem to be just where i left it .. ..or maybe i was just too impatient .. -;;; .....maybe u can try it and see but ..i just dun really find myself understanding the movie .anyway maybe that time i dun really subscribe to such internet behaviour of watching others ..is just soo..intruding .even when the person know she is being watch ..

Woah, I just went for a quick dinner and when I came back, the posts doubled for the page

Anywayz, I didn't watch Untold Scandal..So I'm not really sure about how it did.. From what I've read about it tho, it doesn't seem that good?

Talking about Il Mare, I think it's one of LJJ's movies where he didn't talk that much. But still he was able to exert such convincing emotions, on how he yearned for JJH's love...well despite the time/zone difference. Also liked it a lot more than the hollywood remake.. cos it was more logic. I just didn't get how Keanu and Sandra could have ended up together..

{Edit}:

Ahh..I loved the making. Watching them doing the scenes were just as funny as watching the movie itself.. and yes Shirley, LBS was phenomenal in the movie. He was so convincing as the retarded brother.. and watching his antics in the making just made me laugh all over again.. And when they interviewed him, I was like ..Is this the same guy??? Woah..he just rawks goofy funny roles...

wow...lots of replies since my last post...^ ^

I was reading your reviews on Asako in Ruby Shoes...is it a must watch or I can bear with the movie as long as LJJ is in it? hahaha

and LJJ was supposed to be on Untold Scandal??? I remembered that Bae Yong-jun won Best New Actor for the role that he played in the movie...LJJ wanted to be in the movie so I'm thinking that if it pushed through then maybe LJJ can win the BEst Actor Award? I think the movie was good though I haven't seen it yet...I find all the scenes in that movie hot...(am I turning into a pervert too hahaha)

Shenny...do you have clips on the flirty scenes of LJJ in AC? I haven't seen the Kissing NG yet...but I might catch it later...

Thunderbolt...nice to see you in this thread! I'm expecting a lot of LJJ reviews from you ^^

Wow... excellent sharing at the thread, LJJ-gifs, pics, reviews, comments, lots! It's always so refreshing coming to this thread in the morning! Like the 'Rainbow's waiting. :P

I think Il Mare is a LJJ classic... a must-watch for all first-time LJJ fans and Kmovie fans, too... like K-movie 101 in the romance genre. Though the story started much with JJH's character, it's LJJ part with the real story... the house and everything. Makes you want to have someone talking and sending letters to you in that "time", too... someone to confide, without strings attached but so close to say the least.

Last Present and Over the Rainbow of course, LJJ's sweetest love sharing. I haven't got around to Oh! Brother but hopefully... this weekend as a real treat. But if one wants to be shocked by LJJ's acting... aish.. we all know, right.. have An Affair... I mean watch An Affair. :sweatingbullets:

Love the LJJ-white shirt pic, koalabear! Sexy-cool!
